They will also be writing to you again during the course of this week just to finalise the detailed arrangements with you and to make sure that you have no last-minute concerns. If you have not heard directly from Forshaw’s over the past few weeks, this is because you are not located within the evacuation zone and are not therefore required to leave your property during the demolition! This is described in more detail, below. Parking restrictions in the area between Talbot Road, Devonshire Avenue, Church Street, Cookson Street, George Street and Buchanan Street will be relaxed from 5.00pm on the Saturday night, to allow for parking from displaced residents in the Evacuation Zone. The previously-notified road closures in the surrounding streets will be put into place from 6.00am on Sunday morning. The closure will prevent vehicles from coming in to the zone after 6.00am but will not stop cars from leaving it i.e. Residents will still be able to drive out of the zone until about 9.15am. Sunday 31 July - Demolition Day is approaching! This newsletter has been prepared for the wider neighbourhood surrounding Queens Park as a final reminder that the demolition of the three remaining tower blocks is now rapidly approaching.

If you live or work within the Evacuation Zone and are therefore required to vacate your property on the morning of Sunday 31 July, Forshaws will have already been in touch with you.

There will of course be some disruption for you, as a result of the temporary road closures and car parking arrangement that are necessary and have been previously advertised. This is described in more detail, below.

Timetable of events:

The main sequence of events for the wider neighbourhood, are as follows:

• We will start erecting the safety barriers around the evacuation zone from the afternoon/eveningof Saturday 30 July, although access in and out will still be possible.

• Parking restrictions in the area between Talbot Road, Devonshire Avenue, Church Street, CooksonStreet, George Street and Buchanan Street will be relaxed from 5.00pm on the Saturday night, toallow for parking from displaced residents in the Evacuation Zone.

• The previously-notified road closures in the surrounding streets will be put into place from 6.00amon Sunday morning. The closure will prevent vehicles from coming in to the zone after 6.00am butwill not stop cars from leaving it i.e. Residents will still be able to drive out of the zone until about9.15am. (See the attached plan for further detail).

• The evacuation of residents from within the Evacuation Zone will commence at 8.15am on Sundaymorning and should be completed by 9.30am.

• Security personnel will be in place by 7.45am on Sunday to control access into the EvacuationZone and from 9.30am, only authorised personnel from the demolition team will have access intothe area.

• Subject to a final evacuation check, the gates to the Evacuation Zone will be CLOSED at 9.45am.

• At 9.50am, a final check will be made to ensure the evacuation of all staff from Lidl, KFC, FarmFoods and Discount Wallpapers.

• At 9.55am, Devonshire Road and Caunce Street will be closed to traffic.

• The blowdown of the three tower blocks is scheduled to take place at 10.00am.

• From 10.10am, Devonshire Road and Caunce Street will be re-opened to traffic.

• From 10.10am, the clean-up operation will begin and post-demolition property inspections willtake place.

• As soon as the ‘all clear’ is given and the initial clean-up has been completed, residents from theEvacuation Zone will return to their homes. They will also be able to drive their cars back into thezone at that time.

• At 11.00am, all barriers and road closures will be formally lifted and the Evacuation Zone will beopened.

Post blowdown clean up

Once the towers have been demolished and the site is declared safe, the clean-up operation will commence – involving street-sweeping and the cleaning of windows, sills and gutters of any affected properties. A joiner/glazier will also be on standby, in the unlikely event that there is some minor property damage requiring attention.

Once again, thank you!

The support and cooperation of the community during the build-up to the tower block demolition has been greatly appreciated by the Council, Lovell and Forshaws and once again, we thank you for your ongoing patience. Hopefully, as we soon move on from demolition into construction, the nature of the project will be less intrusive for all concerned!
