SUNDAY: 29 JANUARY: 4TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
FROM THE PASTOR Dear Parishioners, Today we begin National Catholic Schools Week. The theme is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” I want to take this opportunity to thank our principles, Dawn Shipp & Virginia Morein, their staff and faculty for doing such a great job. I want to thank all of you parents for sending your children to our catholic school. I know it is a financial sacrifice but the benefits are incredible. Today some of us from the school are returning from the March for Life in Washington, D.C. along with many other Catho-lic school students from around our diocese and indeed the whole United States. These are some of the wonderful opportunities that Catholic education promotes. Thanks to all of you and have a great Catholic Schools Week.
We have moved the Holy Hours to the Thursday preceding the first Friday of the month. So we will have the Holy Hour this Thurs-day, February 2nd from 5:30-6:30pm.
Right after that we will have our first Charismatic meeting in the Meeting Room in honor of the 50th Catholic Charismatic anni-versary. It should begin at 6:30pm or soon thereafter. All are invited to attend.
In filling out the application for the ACTS retreat for men, please make your checks out to Sacred Heart Church. There was a mistake on one side of the registration form. Sorry for the inconve-nience. The retreat is March 16-19.
The 2017-2018 Sacred Heart School Registration will begin on February 1st through February 20th. Applications will be available on the website shsvp.com, Renweb, or may be picked-up in the elemen-tary or high school office.Sincerely in Christ,
Fr. Thomas Voorhies

ADOPT A BABYIT’S MY BIRTHDAY!
Thank you so much for all of your prayers. Because of them, you gave me the best
gift ever…
THE GIFT OF LIFE!!!Happy Birthday Spiritually Adopted Baby!
Your spiritually adopted baby was born this month –
nine months after his mother conceived him.
The only change at birth is a change in the external life support system of the baby.
He is no different now than he was before birth, except that he breathes and eats
differently.
He is truly a miracle. He began as a 46 chromosome cell and has developed over
the past nine months into this unique human baby. Never before in history, nor ever again, will anyone exist who is just
like your spiritually adopted baby.
YOUR PRAYERS SAVED HIS LIFE! Thank you for your prayers for him and his
mother. Please continue your prayers that he will grow into an adopted child of our
Heavenly Father.

+ School News+ National Catholic Schools Week
Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week is the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January
and runs all week, which in 2017 is January 29 - February 4. The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2017 is “Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” Through these events, schools focus on the
value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation.
Here are just a few things Sacred Heart School will be doing throughout the week:
+ In order to develop Faith, each day of the week will reflect a different aspect of our Faith life. At the end of the week, the activities will combine to form the
word SAINT, which is what we are all called to become.
+ In order to build their knowledge of the Faith, students will have “trivia” contests throughout the week.
+ In order to practice Christian service to the poor, the Sacred Heart student body will help raise money for Cross Catholic Outreach, in particular for the
Kobonal Haitian Mission. Two years ago, Sacred Heart already earned enough money to help a Haitian family become owners of a hurricane- and earthquake-resistant home; own ½ acre of land; and pay for their children’s education. The
family is being taught farming skills. They are subsidized for approximately three years while learning a trade to continue to provide for themselves. Last year we continued to raise money and we are now only $2,000 from earning
enough money to build another house.
2017-2018 SHS REGISTRATION
The 2017-2018 Sacred Heart School Registration will begin on February 1-20, 2017. Applications will be
available as a document download from our website shsvp.com, Renweb or may be picked-up in the
elementary or high school office.
