PRESIDENTS REPORT
My name is Deborah Watson and I have been the President of Sunbury Little Athletics Centre for the
2012/13 season. I have two children involved in the club and they have loved their experience at SLAC.
Firstly I would like to thank our dedicated committee and volunteers who work so hard each week to ensure
we are able to put a program on for all of our members to enjoy. Sometimes things may look very easy but a
lot of time and dedication has been put in by the scenes so that this seamless appearance is possible.
I would like to thank Sunbury Helping Hands for their generous contributions this year. We have been able
to purchase new hurdles and have a wonderful new discus cage because of their kindness.
I would also like to thank our sponsors Sportsco, Sunbury Cycles, O’Shannessy Meats, Bakers Delight
Sunbury, Slipstream Signs, 3D Paint and Colour, IGA, Western Water, McDonalds and the other Sunbury
businesses that have donated for our raffles. Your support is greatly appreciated.
I have really enjoyed my time as President this year and have loved working with the under 6s and 7s at On
Track. This is an amazing program that allows the children to practice their skills with modified equipment
in a fun and engaging manner.
The children have enjoyed the program and have formed great friendship bonds. I look forward to
delivering this program again in the 2013/14 season. I would like to thank Mark Chatman and the parents of
the under 6 and 7 children who have helped to make this program a success.
This season we hosted the Northern Metropolitan Region Track and Field event. The feedback we received
for this day was excellent which is a testament to the volunteers who assisted on the day.
As the 2012/13 season comes to a close I encourage all members to become actively involved in the club
and help to secure its future success. We have a great bunch of children at our club and we need passionate
and committed volunteers to help them “be their best”
I look forward to seeing you all again next year.
Kind regards,
Deborah Watson

SECRETARYS REPORT
My name is Mark Chatman and I have been the Secretary of the Sunbury Little Athletic Centre for the 2012/13
season.
We have through the 2012/13 season made some substantial improvements to our facilities through Grant
money. The support from Sunbury Helping Hand has allowed us to construct a permanent discuss cage and
the purchase of new hurdles. A special thank you to Scott Dean who with the help of some dedicated Sunbury
volunteers built the discuss cage for the club. We have also ordered new high jump stands which will be ready
to go for next season. The Grant we recently received from Hume City Council will allow us to send committee
members to Centrefest where seminars and training are available from LAVic to develop the people that
volunteer to run our great club.
Thank you to our sponsors this year, Sportsco, Sunbury Cycles, O’Shannessy Meats, Bakers Delight Sunbury,
Slipstream Signs, 3D Paint and Colour, IGA, Western Water, McDonalds and the other Sunbury businesses
that have put forward prizes for our raffles. It is through your support that we are able to raise funds for renewal
of equipment and the upgrade of club facilities.
Congratulations to those athletes who have made it to Region & State. Sunbury athletes have put in some
outstanding achievements through the year and we wish the team heading to State next weekend every success.
It has been great to see so many centre records achieved this year and of course the PB’s that we see on a
weekly basis are the reason we are all involved in Little Athletics.
The Sunbury Athletics Centre’s holds monthly meetings right through the year. Even if you are not taking a
role on the executive committee I encourage you to attend and play a part in the club’s organisation. It is a
rewarding experience and an opportunity to meet new friends who have like interests in their children’s
sporting development. The minutes from each meeting are published to the webpage so all of you can view
what is discussed at these meetings.
I would like to thank the current committee members for the effort, passion and support they put into Sunbury
Little Athletics Club. The recent Sunbury Little Athletics Dinner Dance is great example of people taking a
leading role in the clubs financial and social strength with a fundraiser that brought families together for an
entertaining night out.
I am standing down from the Secretary position but look forward to contributing from the General Committee
working with existing committee members returning and hopefully many new faces to plan a successful
2013/14 season.
Regards
Mark Chatman

REGISTRARS REPORT
This year we had 188 financial members for Little Athletics, a bit short on last years 192.
We held two registration days in September and started the season off in October with the vinyl registration
patches ready to go.
There was some confusion along the way with the circular IGA patch which were to be sewn onto our tops.
The correct side is the left hand side above the number 83 which most of us have already done to be able to
compete at regionals and states.
To make the recording of results easier Dave Thies introduced the results HQ and barcoding system to our
club. This is used at many other clubs, but is our first year of it and it is running smoothly and our kids are
pretty excited to be told if their result is a PB or not.
As of next season 2013/2014 barcodes will be mandatory for all results to be recorded.
Thank you to all committee who have assisted me throughout the year. I will be standing again for the
Registrar’s role and look forward to another smooth transition in September with the registrations.
This club is made up of volunteers, like everybody here – we all have children competing and like to watch
them in their events – some committee members don’t have children competing but they volunteer their time
to assist the club.
So if you want to help or make a difference with the Sunbury Little Athletics Club - think about standing
for a role on the committee.

Treasurers Report
Sunbury little athletics financial year was from the 1st of March 2012 to 28th of February 2013. The financials for the 2012/13 year have not been audited by an independent auditor at this time, due to the time between the end of the financial year and the AGM During the financial period Sunbury little athletics had income of $32,425.48, with expenditure of $33003.70, leaving a loss of $578.35. The current closing ledger balance is $18,326.39 During the year we had 2 major fundraising days being the cross country open day and the Region multi, between these 2 events we managed to raise $2,611.35, well done to all that made these 2 days a success. Again this Year the canteen was our biggest revenue raiser with profits of $3,558.56, and big thank you needs to be given to Nicole for putting up her hand and taking over the canteen manager’s role. We also received 2 grants, a grant from Hume city council to assist with general expenses. This grant will be used to help sent a team to represent Sunbury at centrefest, later in the year which is a bi annual event run by little athletics Victoria, and provides information & training sessions for all clubs across Victoria. We also received a grant from Helping Hands Sunbury to help with the cost of purchasing new collapsible hurdles. The biggest expense this year was the purchase of new equipment, this included a computer, victory podium, Seiko Stop Watch with Printer, hurdles, new mat used at high jump, marker cones, measuring tapes, High jump stands, and the discuss cage. These items are all important to making sure that Sunbury little athletics can continue to improve the facilities for the future of the club. The expenses and income received for the first Sunbury little athletics dinner dance held on Saturday 2nd of March have not been included in the 2012/13 report. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions regarding the financial performance and management of Sunbury Little Athletics Centre, either formally as part of the AGM, or to me separately. I have the full set of financial records available should anyone wish to inspect them. Rhonda Cherriman Sunbury Little Athletics Treasurer

TEAM MANAGERS REPORT 2012 / 2013
The 2012/13 season has been my 1st significant role within the club as Team Manager. I was initially reluctant to
assume the position because of work commitments and unfortunately I have been absent from 4 of the 6 region and
state events. I cannot commit to any positions for the next season because of high work demands so again someone
else will need to fill the role. I want to thank those who have stepped into the role during my absence namely Steve
Rodwell, Carolyn Evans and Leah Wilkins.
For the new Team Manager I offer my support and service where needed for a successful transition for the 2013/14
season.
This season Sunbury team has travelled far and wide. The athletes have competed in the following events:
1. Northern Metro Multi Championships Nov 2012
Held at the Boardman Athletics track in Sunbury. 44 Athletes competed with many great achievements and PBs
by all those who competed.
2. Victorian State Multi Championships. Dec 2012
Held at Lakeside Athletics Centre in South Melbourne. 9 Athletes competed. Sunbury had 1 bronze medalist
Georgia Bertrand u13 girls
3. Northern Metro Region Relay Championships. Nov 2012
Held at Keilor Athletics Track with 9 teams entering. Out of the 9 teams 3 progressed to state
4. Victorian State Relay Championships. Dec 2012
Held at Lakeside Athletics Stadium with 3 teams qualifying. U12 boys 4 x 200 won gold and silver in the
4 x 800 medley. Although the under 12 boys are experienced campaigners it was wonderful news to hear the U9
mixed team consisting of Abbey, Bella, Darcy and Daniel 4x100 relay finished 4th which is a fantastic
achievement for first timers. Hopefully next season they can do one better and bring home a medal.
5. Northern Metro Region Track and Field Championships. Feb 2013
Held at Aberfeldie Athletics Track in Essendon with 37 athletes competing. We had many great performances
and PBs and some surprising results. Congrats to all those who competed on this hot weekend
Victorian State Track and Field Championships . March 2013
In a couple of weeks we will have 19 athletes who will now compete at State Track and Field which is held in
Bendigo Latrobe University Athletics complex on the 23rd and 24th of March. Due to the untimely event of Easter
and the early finish to the Sunbury Athletics season all results will be posted on our website at the conclusion of
the championships. Again I won’t be attending this championship event but wish all athletes the best and to aim
high.
Good luck to the under 13 athletes who may be given an opportunity to represent Victoria
These events cannot take place without the help and support of parental participation. I would like to thank all the
parents that filled duties at short notice.
Regards
Robyn Wilkins
