Summiters Escape from the ordinary

ellarimala forms a part of a high

hill range known as the „Camel's

Hump Mountains‟, a part of the

Western Ghats. Situated at an

altitude 6,333ft Vellarimala lies in

the heart of the Western Ghats in

Kerala. River Kanjirapuzha, a

tributary of the River Chaliyar,

meanders through the rocky terrain,

creating cascades and many

breathtaking waterfalls. The land's

beauty and topography is truly a

trekker's paradise.

The tallest peak in this range is

called Vavulmala, at an altitude of

7,678 ft. The view of Vavulmala peak

wall in the evening is a feast to the

eyes. Flowering plants such as

Rhododendron arboreum found in the

high hills of Himalayas can be seen

at Vellarimala hill ranges. The

absence of beetles, crickets and

cicadas makes it appear as if one is

trekking in the popular Silent Valley –

in absolute silence. Come to the

mystic mountain – Come to

Vellarimala

FAQ

Q: Who can do this trek?

A: If you can walk 5km on an uneven

terrain, then you can! If you have specific health issues like asthma, heart issues or the likes, consult your doctor.

Q: How cold does it get?

A: It can get pretty chilly at night.

Make sure you have a warm jacket and a bed-sheet.

Q: What should we carry?

A: The following items are a must-

carry:

Shoes: A good pair of shoes is a must - a good pair does not mean your Adidas/ Nike/ Reebok/ Puma sport shoe. You need a pair that can withstand the wear and tear of walking for many days. A bad shoe can ruin your trek by causing blisters. Ask us, we can help you in choosing the right one for your budget.

The other things you need to carry are : a backpack, a sun hat/cap, your personal clothes, a raincoat/poncho, toiletry kit, a good pair of sun glasses, a water bottle and your personal medicines (if necessary).

Your sleeping mat and tent will be provided to you by us.

Q: What food do you provide?

A: We provide simple vegetarian food

that is light and suitable for trekking. Don‟t expect a pizza hut or an Anand Bhavan - nor will you have to go hunting. You will have enough and when you are tired – anything served will taste superb!

Q: Is the mountain water safe to

drink?

A: Yes. It‟s as pure as it can be. But if

you are finicky – you can buy mineral water for yourself.

Q: Should I carry a first aid kit?

A: Safety is always first. The group

leader always carries a complete first aid kit. You need not carry one.

Q: How can I prepare myself?

A: Take daily long walks or jogs.
