It was the largest ever gathering of the P2P lending industry in Europe. The most recent LendIt USA conference in New York in April 2015 had more than 2,500 attendees and featured former US Treasury secretary, Larry Summers, as a keynote speaker. The Peer-to-Peer Finance Association (P2PFA) was launched in 2011 by Zopa, FundingCircle and RateSetter as the representative body for the sector. Christine Farnish was appointed independent chair in 2012, joined in 2014 by former ombudsman Tony Boorman as Independent Director. The P2PFA works to promote understanding of peer to peer (P2P) lending and encourage a regulatory, fiscal and public policy environment in which P2P lending can flourish. The P2PFA works closely with government and regulators, and also sets standards of good practice in the market through rules and operating principles which apply to members.
