SUMMER WORK - A STREET CAR NAMED DESIRE

Watch the trailer for A Street Car Named Desire on

YouTube. Create a mind-map exploring the ideas the

trailer suggests to you about the themes, narrative

and characters in the play.

Read the play and make notes on the mind-map

from the trailer, IN A DIFFERENT COLOUR, showing

how the actual play matches or contrasts with your

first ideas.

SUMMER WORK - THE BLOODY CHAMBER

Read The Bloody Chamber

Write a short story in the same gothic style as

Angela Carter. You can use a fairy-tale (reworked for

modern context) as the basis or do something

entirely original. Focus on your use of language and

gothic conventions. Do not worry if you find it hard

to plot a completely successful narrative.
