EDITORIAl 1

Welcome to summer edition of Voices magazine!

As this edition is covering both months of July and August I feel even a bit like saying good-bye to you be-fore the summer break. This good-bye recently has been a very popular phrase as we have had to say it to many volunteers from co-organizations and also to our Rami and Sanne. Its sad that people are leaving but life goes on and EVS is just a temporary experience. Thus I have to wish a cool life after EVS and tiny period of adaptation to life back in their country! But how to shorten your time once youre still here in Skopje? Id say move. Not every day you will go to Ohrid or Prespa so be a bit creative and find other ways as well! last weeks Ive started to explore small villages around Skopje. Its so convenient to just take a public bus and go a bit out of Skopje where grass is greener and air much fresher. For me the best discovery so far is Skopska Crna Gora with plenty of mon-asteries in unspoiled nature and villages like Pobozje, Banjani, ljuboten and many more. For the first trip there, being desperately annoyed by the heat in Skopje, I even got up to take the bus at 5 am. And it was a magical experience with singing roosters and nature waking up exactly when we arrived. So use chances, think out of prejudical box and move in order not to get stuck!

SPORTS 3

The beach, the sun, the sea... Associates for summer, vacation and relaxation. Also, asso-ciates for summer sports activities, especially those that can be practiced on the water. Besides swimming, sea surface offers other attractive sports entertainment and Im fas-cinated by surfing. Is it because its something foreign for me and it is that kind of sport that I still havent tried (when it comes to sports, Ive tried, so say enough), or the thought of the smell of the sea draws me to this sport? unfortunately, we dont have the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of this sport activity. We can only admire it through the small (or large) screens of our TV sets or computer.

Anyway, Ill try to bring this sport closer to all of you who share this passion with me, now that is time when most of you are preparing to enjoy the sea coast. Since we cannot practice surfing anywhere in Macedonia, I will spend some time in suggesting you which are the most famous world surfing locations.

For those with a competitive spirit, there are more than a few categories in which you can participate, from an early age and up to senior-level competition. Shortly before the competition begins, all the surf boards will be measured, in which they must meet the criteria, by previous determined regulations. Judges evaluate surfers points from 1-10, which also adhere to the rules and regulations.

Summer is coming and not even single opportunity should be missed by the sea beaches, and if you are beginner you can always do it with the supervision of professionals. Also, we strongly recommend you to try this adventurous sport; you will be amazed by the beauty and the experience you will gain from it. Stay safe and have a splendid summer vacation.

Mavericks (California, u.S.A.)

home of the famous break of mavericks is a world-famous surfing location in Northern California. It is located approximately one-half mile (0.8 km) from shore in Pillar Point harbor, just north of half moon Bay at the vil-lage of Princeton-By-The-Sea. After a strong winter storm in the Northern Pacific Ocean, waves can routinely crest at over 25 feet (8m) and top out at over 50 feet (15m). The break is caused by an unusually-shaped underwater rock formation.

pipeline (hawaii, u.S.a.)

pipeline is a surf reef break located in hawaii, off Ehukai Beach Park in Pupukea on Oahus North Shore. The spot is notorious and fa-mous for its huge waves breaking in shallow water just above its sharp and cavernous reef, forming large, hollow and thick curls of water that surfers can ride inside of. There are three reefs at Pipeline in progressively deeper wa-ter further out to sea that activate at various power levels applied by ocean swells.

Snapper Rocks (Australia)

Snapper Rocks is a sand bottom point break considered as a world renowned surfing spot on the Gold Coast. Snapper, located at Rain-bow Bay, is home to the world-famous Super Bank, regarded in surfing circles as the long-est, most consistent and most hollow wave in the world. The swell here often reaches six to eight feet, and one good, clean wave can trans-port you from Snapper to Kirra, a distance of almost two kilometres. Snapper Rocks hosts elite international surfing events such as the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro, Rip Curl Masters, and MP Classic. It is also a favourite surfing spot of local world champs, Mick Fanning, Joel Parkin-son and Stephanie Gilmore, who enjoy noth-ing more than surfing their own local break when theyre at home.

Im not the most passionate festival attender and I dont go to several of them each sum-mer as good festivals usually cost a pretty big money. however i do like them and the ones I attend I usually enjoy a lot. And now I have to confess I feel pretty sad about the fact that Im gonna miss my hometown music festival Positivus which I have attended for last five years out of six of its existence already. For me its one of the coolest things to experience in summer: two huge stages along with plenty of smaller tents or spots for artists and DJs to perform, thematical workshops and enter-taining spots like Nature stage, Cinema tent, chilling places on the beach and many more. Territory of the festival is magic as its locat-ed on the seaside with dunes in big park with plentiful facilities to party, entertain, educate and relax.

Some people concentrate on travelling during the summer. For some others job is the key when describing their summer, r sports activities, lying under the sun on a beach, drinking beer with friends and so on. But there are also people to whom summer mostly associates with music

festivals and everything that comes along with them.

muSic feStival Summer

After great line-ups on each year I was sure this year will make me sad to miss it. And it does as bands like Two Door Cinema Club, The xx, Sigur ros and many more are coming to perform along with numerous latvian artists. The overall musical format is traditionally a bit closer to rock and pop-rock but I always feel that in program everybody can find something particularly suitable for the person. however the atmosphere of the festival is usually even most important than bands and this is the thing Positivus provides in the best level.

Comparing Positivus festival to other fes-tivals on Europe its for sure not the biggest but still it has got a significant role and repu-tation among the community as the best this kind of festival in Baltics. Its hard to compare it to exit festival in Serbia as in this case musi-

cal format is mostly dance/electro with not that big variety. however exit has a bit bigger capacity of attendants (47 thousand compared to 40) which is still far from the biggest and most popular festivals in europe as hurricane (ger-many, capacity: 75 thousand), glas-tonburry (uK, 180 thousand), Rock Werchter (Belgium, 80 thousand) and others. In fact the far biggest amount of big festivals, as you can see in www.festivalsearcher.com, is held in uK, Germany and Belgium making these countries very desirable destinations for summer festival admirers.

Every story has its own ending, but in life every ending is a new beginning. With the end of the school year, we got a fresh new start of summer with new memories, different stories and unforget-table parties. Everyone leaves the boring life behind and with the start of June we all start to write our own unique summer beach sto-ries. Summer is a paradise, and every paradise starts with the motto: you only live once! There is no time for waiting, just do whats on your mind. Do not regret anything; dont try to make it perfect. With the hot temperature the only thing we think of is the beach, refresh-ing water, ice cream, party all the time, have a drink or two, no worries. We are kids and we are going to stay this way forever. Every one of us has three questions on mind when the summer starts.

First, where am I going to spend the summer? Second, who do I want to spend it with and the last one, what do I look for this summer? People are different, so thats why everyone has a different answer to these questions.

high School Summer Break

There are few types of people when it comes to spending the summer. The most interest-ing are the party people, than we got family types, adventurers, love birds, exploring-the-world types and so on.

So well start with the party people, and I think most of the people who are reading this are going to recognize themselves. Summer starts, and they are here. They already have a plan for the summer, and its a simple one. Go to some place that is far away from home. Also there have to be a lot of caffes, discos, young people. A place where the party nev-er stops . And of course, the most important thing is having the best friends by your side to share every moment, every silly thing that we do. After the loud music its time for a re-laxation on a sandy beach all gathered around a big fire, telling jokes, taking pictures, laugh, dance, sing, play on a guitar, like theres no to-morrow. Because we stay up all night its obvi-ous that the day is reserved for sleeping. Then in the afternoon, the bars and cafes are filled with the same party people who just got up

WORlD 11

By Marija Korunoska

and are trying to recover for the next unfor-gettable night. After the great vacation, the party doesnt stop. There are pool parties, home parties, all the kinds of parties.

Opposite of the party people are the family types. They are on a summer vacation with their family, having a peaceful, relaxed, sim-ple, quiet time. you can see the whole fam-ily playing on the beach, eating together etc. one typical day of this category: its 8 am and they are having breakfast, than 30 min later they are on the beach rubbing sun cream and after that right in the water. Theres nothing much to tell about this group.

This next group is for people who dont know what to do with their life; they do not go out to hang out with friends. All they are doing is complaining about their boring life and just sitting, not doing anything to change that. Memories wont come if you just watch a TV or surf on the internet all day. you have to live it up. This is our time. Come and grab it! Thats how the memories are made.

The adventurers and the exploring-the-world type are similar. First ones love to make changes in their life, take challenges, risks and they are not afraid of anything. This group of people usually spend the summer in not that visited places, places that are difficult to trav-el, but thats what they want. And they really dont take a lot of luggage with them. All they

need is a sleeping bag, few pieces of clothing, food and water. And then we have the peo-ple who love to explore the world. But some of them dont wait for summer to come to do that. Traveling the world means discover-ing beautiful, breathtaking places, places that youve seen only on pictures or on TV, some things that you just have to see with your own eyes. The great thing is that you try delicious cuisins, buy traditional clothes, and meet dif-ferent traditions and customs, trying new ways of living the life.

And if we mix all of these groups we got the working-in-summer type. These people are responsible, its not a hard thing for them to get up early and make some money for the summer. They might seem a little boring, like theres no other thing for them to do except working, but they know what they are doing. And after a couple of hardworking months they have enough money to have the perfect holiday, with the closest friends, on a fabu-lous beach.

No matter how we spend our holiday, we are trying to get the best of it because we know that we wont be teenagers forever. Dont let opportunities pass you by. you only regret those things you didnt do when you had a chance. let me remind you that its summer. No matter how old you are, make summer 2013 worth remembering.

magic of Summer muSic feStivalS

INTERVIEW 15

To illustrate the summer festival magic this time I made an interview with my co-citizen, friend and ex-study mate Agnese. When I think of a summer and festivals she comes to my mind as one of the first persons to support this way of spending summer by having a pretty colourful experience in this area. Besides the biggest festivals in latvia she has been also to one in Belgium as well as to one of worlds greatest music festivals hurricane in germany.

talk a lot about this festival and that time but... the most beautiful and emotional mo-ment was when there played my favorite band Foo Fighters. I am standing with my friends and around 80 000 thousand people, waiting when Foo Fighters will show up on the stage. And they come. Weather is nice, they are play-ing, people are singing along and everything is amazing. And then Dave sings the famous songs Best of you first line: ive got another confession to make, and at that moment it starts to rain. That band, that concert, that moment and those feelings I will never forget.

Do you prefer to visit festivals abroad or in Lat-via and whats the difference between them?I have been twice to the festivals in abroad. This year I have a plan for a festival in Bulgar-ia (Spirit of Burgas). But with my tiny abroad festival experience, I prefer to go to abroad. They usually are bigger and.I even dont know what is that difference. Its just the feel-ing that makes you feel so good. What do you usually enjoy the most in festi-vals?Concerts and nights at camping place. Those are two places where the magic happens.

Do you have a dream festival or musician/band to see in your future? My favorite band, Foo Fighters, I have seen. So the next stop in my plan is Glastonbury fes-tival which for me seems to be the festival of festivals!

What does summer mostly associates to you with?Sun. Music. Beach. Sea. Festivals.

And how big role do exactly festivals have?If I had more money I would go to the mu-sic festivals every weekend. But with mon-ey I have it is at least two music festivals in summer. If it is big, then with one or two is enough, but if its for few thousand people, then with one is not enough.

How many festivals have you been to last sum-mer and whats the biggest amount of festi-vals uve visited per one year? Name the best ones uve been to! last summer I visited 2 festivals. I think my record of music festivals I have been in one summer is 4. the best is hurricane festival in Germany, then come Positivus festival and Baltic Beach Party (since the last year its called Summer Sound) in latvia. And different kind of music festival but still really great one was Brussels Summer festival in Belgium. I say different kind because this festival was in the city centre of Brussels for one week and with-out camping. But bands were great.

What should be provided by the organizers as a basis to call festival a good one?Personally for me I dont need a lot. Bands, place for camping and parking for a car, toilets and beer. As I have seen lately in festivals, or-ganizers offer a lot of things to make the fes-tival cool. For example, showers, a chance to charge a phone, place where to wash clothes, raincoats and sunglasses for free and even the earplugs. The favorite thing from organ-izers is in Positivus Festival, they of-fer coffee in the morning and its for free. Its nice to have all those things, but at the same time, music festival is a place where to go and have fun with friend and listen to good music.

Tell about some great festival experi-ence of yours!the greatest of the greatest was hur-ricane Festival in Germany. I could

Its hard to describe the life after EVS when it seems like it was such a short time ago and I didnt exactly get back in my normal routine or anything close to it. Right after I arrived I went to my new job. This whole summer Ill be working at one of the largest theatrical festivals in the Netherlands, where all the personnel camps in tents or caravans near the festival site, so it cre-ates a kind of separate village in which everyday life is far away for everybody. Im happy I got this chance, cause after all the excitement of being in Macedonia for eight months it would be a hard tide to just get back home not knowing exactly what to do next. For me it feels like Im sort of postponing the actual coming back this way. In fact the only real shock for me till now was the weather.

It is too soon to know precisely what my EVS has done for and to me. Now that Im back I long to be in Macedonia again, but while I was there I quite often missed my home. I remember my time as EVS as very special, a real chance to get to know a com-pletely different country and all its particularities. To work, party and live with people from all over Europe. Culture clashes were bound to happen,

the after evS experience By Sanne Keulen

but luckily they were just a minimal aspect of the greater experience. The best memories I have are from trips through the country with a mixed group of people from Macedonia and other countries. Also I had a great time working with the children in the daily centres in Shutka, for me it was a com-pletely new experience to work with children and I think I have learned a lot from this. Meanwhile I also got more of a sense of the political issues Macedonia faces, even in everyday life they play their role. It was particularly striking to me how many of the local youth are dreaming to leave their home country, something I didnt imagine before to be such a big thing. Among many feelings I had I also sometimes would feel almost guilty for being so privileged to come from a rich country where nothing seems impossible.

When people here ask me how my time was, its very difficult to give them an idea of what it was like. Also telling the same stories over and over starts to bore me quite fast. In general I recom-mend people to visit the Balkan themselves or do an EVS of their own, I cannot be sure exactly how, but I know it will change your life.

Macedonia has been my moth-erland since my birth. living in this country, honestly, made me think in a mature man-ner, since everyday is survival for the most of the population. As most of you would agree, the most crucial issue in this small country is lack of education. We are unable to do things not because we are financially broke, because we are not highly educated in order to solve our problems. As individu-als in it, we have ran from our problem for years, however, those little issues grow larger and powerful over years and made us be against each other. And now we are hun-gry for knowledge.

In a multi-ethnic society, all of us are intro-duced to different cultures, traditions, be-haviours etc. Our behaviours are affected by our culture; therefore, not being able to accept these changes takes our country 10 years back. I can tell that respect, tollerance and moral are some diminished characteris-tics in all of us. A countrys success comes from the accomplishments of every indi-vidual. In addition to this, every one of us is a part of something bigger, but as a small

macedonia, a Better country?

By Dzaner Sengjuler

part we can make an enormous change for the sake of our country.

People say that, uSA is a country that has lost all of their morals. At least when they dine, whole family gets together. So let me ask you guys. When was the last time you gather with your family and do something together? (Believe me, there is more food in your keyboard than you imagine). Times are so difficult but, working and solving our problems together, will divide the is-sues and multiply the happiness. In order to change something, you should be starting the change from within. Furthermore, we must sacrifice what we are, for what we can become.

lastly, we cannot change things in a blink of an eye. In addition, quality of education is the key to a perfect country. Do not forget that the evilest things come from uneducat-ed, and the strongest sword is pencil. We are blind because of our selfishness and ig-norance lets open our eyes to see the best. Educate yourself; you will be doing some-thing good not only for you, but indirectly to humanity.

Surviving the tranSition from high School

The transition from high school to university marks a distinct step in a students academic career. The step denotes the move from a de-pendent to independent learner, from study-ing in a carefully monitored environment with a highly regulated timetable to students learning to manage their own time and make decisions in a more responsible manner. Myself, as a fresh-man now, I understand all of your fear, the fear of failure. In order to diminish that fears there are few steps that will lead you to success.

Firstly, you have to be prepared for larger class-es, more readings, no deadline extensions and taking an exam with hundreds of people. how-ever, in order to be ready for this transition you have to find your passion and study what you love. Since, attending to classes is much easier if you enjoy what you are learning. however, this is not primary or high school. Therefore, you are going to have to study even before and after every lesson in order to be successful. In addition to this, get to know your professors. your university experience does not mean that you are only a number. Take advantage of your teachers experience and knowledge.

Thirdly, and the most important part is that you will have to learn to manage your time. Planning ahead will give you the big picture about your achievements. These tips may be clich, but no one cares to do them. If you are smart, you will be putting lots of effort in the first year and give all what you got in order to be classified as an

achiever. This is the exact period of time, when you cannot let anything distract you. If you are a drinker or smoker, etc. well, that is not a great idea to continue bad habits in university. you will be needing your brain functioning to the fullest.

lastly, there are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure. Anyhow you do not have to fail in order to gain knowledge, try the hardest but the better way of gaining knowledge, TRy NOT MAKING MISTAKES, take your time and let your -brain do the work

whatS your life philoSophy?

By Sophie Novak

Philosophy isnt reserved only for the scholarly and deeply poignant thinkers. Its in all of us, omnipresent. A life is led in myriad different ways, as many people are in this world.

What is a life philosophy then?

A life philosophy is a combination of your beliefs, tastes, interests, prejudices, successes and failures, faces, ac-tivities, conceptions, attitudes, lifestyle and so on.

In short, its everything you are, everything you repre-sent, everything you do and believe in: a summing up of you and your life.

you have a choice to develop it yourself, but if you dont, it will impose itself on you. Whether you know it or not, you do have a life philosophy already.

Mind you, its not easy to detect and define it. Deep in-ner examination is required to find ones own life phi-losophy.

Its not about being poor or rich, successful or not its whats important to you, the core of your being, and your submerging to it. Giving life to your life. Finding a special meaning, even when its difficult to make sense of the stressed, banal and complicated.

The Viennese psychiatrist Viktor Frankl found a meaning in his suffering while in the Nazi concentration camps.Making your Own life Philosophy

In order to come up with your own life philosophy, you need to ask yourself plenty of questions. Make lists of things you like and dislike, your principles, the opinions

you hold, the interests you maintain and what you do and why. Order them by importance.

In sorting these random lists, youll be able to spot a pattern, something that stands out, the truth about you.

If you want to have a family and posterity is the most important to you, it will show up. If youre interested in making a difference in the world, youll see it. If your whole being is inclined towards being successful in any way, it will be ranked at the top.

And it doesnt need to be big and sensational. you may simply want to enjoy life, thus maintain it as a life philosophy. you may want to devote yourself to help-ing people in need or live in Italy.

I, for example, want to remain humble, and its an important part of my life philosophy. Another one of mine is to create, no matter the struggle, the failure and the doubt, to create and keep creating. And to love with all my soul; a love that can make you go to the other side of the world, a love that will make you happy and crazy at the same time, a love that shakes and moves and never stops.

Three words are more than enough. Just one word can be a complete and powerful life philosophy.Changes and Stages

If you change, your life philosophy will automatically change too. Its as flexible as you make it. The more you lean towards maturity, the more it will mature as well.

The Danish philosopher Sren Kierkegaard identified three phases in his life: aesthetical, ethical and reli-gious. This is what he believed in, this is how he lived his life and developed a broad philosophy out of it.

A change is good; it shows development. Sticking to one or trying out a couple before you see which one fits you best is a personal choice.

Also, if you cant find your own at the moment, dont be devastated. Sometimes it takes years to develop one. It shows your commitment to finding the true one, rather than adapting someone elses. And thats what matters.

A life philosophy is individualistic; if you try and copy one you may as well have copied someone elses life. Why not live your own? Its more special. Its just yours.

So whats your present life philosophy? Do you have one?

2pac, gangSter or activiSt By Emir Slezovikj

When I saw a picture of 2pac I get an impression of another rapper that proclaims to be a gangster that sings about be-ing famous and having money, but no, after I dig deeper about him I found 2pac was some-thing more than that. he had a real purpose in rapping where the messages in his songs had deep meaning.growing up poor and being son of a Black Panther activist influenced him to fight for better than the life he had. he was named after Tupac Amaru, a South American Revo-lutionary who was executed because he led an indigenous uprising against Spanish rule. Even though his character in the public was shown as cold-hearted, inside him there was hiding personality of being complex, deep sensitive and soulful.Being real was his style where he is rapping about whats on his mind and showing it as much real as he can. Through his songs he is portraying the life of young American seen through his eyes and all the problems that

is facing. Even though he was discredited by the others of being sexist, some of the most popular songs he had were dedicated to the women as: - three songs where he is respect-ing, praising and appreciating the roles of women in the society. On his other song he would reflect on police brutality, discrimi-nation, especially poverty and loudly asking for change. they have money for wars, but cant feed the poor is part of a 2pacs song where he refers to the paradox of the gov-ernment.All around the world through his voice he connected different groups of people to fight for the common issues in their society. as one of his quote my mama always used to tell me: if you cant find something to live for, you best find something to die for he found his life purpose and like real revolu-tionary he died on the age of 25 years. But 17 years after his death his ideas are still alive between the people listening to his songs which makes them think and act for a better world.

thiS iS not the end,

By Ramona Sanigov

This is it. My leaving party started, all of my friends who are still here, came to say goodbye. We are having the last conversations, last jokes, wishes and promises that we will keep in touch. But what comes to my mind now are all the moments we had during the last 9 months which I spent at my new home - Skopje, Macedonia.

I will never forget how it all started. I decided to come through Albania and I have to say it was a good decision because after that experience nothing could ever surprise me anymore. I took a minivan and everything looked normal until the moment when my friend left me inside alone. There were too many passengers so the driver took some chairs and put them in the small corridor of the bus so all the people could sit. During the way we stopped often in few villages to say hi to the drivers friends and sometimes there were no roads. No sleep. At 4 am we finally arrived to Skopje! After such a long ride, I was finally relieved that Im here. But this doesnt look like a bus station! Where am I? Nobody was able to explain to me what is going on and I had to get out. Fortunately some Bulgarian girls shared a taxi with me to the bus station where my new bosses were waiting for me with a fear in their eyes. And this was just the beginning.

It took me some time to get used to the Macedonian life. The biggest issue was the time - it doesnt exist here! I didnt understand why we always start 15 to 40 min later, why there are horses on the streets, why I cannot buy strawberries in Septem-ber, why there is no bus schedule on the bus stop and where is actually the bus stop? All these small things felt like back in time for me, but now, those will be the things I will miss the most. No stress, no rush, take it easy and enjoy the moment. I couldnt choose a better country and better city for my life changing EVS experience. But what I am thankful for the most is the organization. VCS gave me all I needed. I grew so much thanks to their help and big support. I got an opportunity to learn everything I wanted and even things I would never think of. It was a great time and it makes me happy to know that I shared my experiences, worked hard and was there at the right place. I am glad that there is something I will leave behind the map of Skopje. My small idea became a big project which included both the lo-cals and EVS volunteers and I could put in all I have learnt during those 9 months.

Thanks for everything and especially for chance that lead me here. But now, I have to go back to my dear friends, to say goodbye, to finish this chapter of my life to make space for a new one. luckily I have a great plan travelling - 3 months with my amazing friend on a journey called ramino around the eu-rope. Keep in touch and see you maybe!

ramino - a trip to

rememBerBy Dino ula

The best thing about cartoons is that any-thing can happen, as long as you can im-agine it. your dreams could come true in a second and we often think that only then we would truly be happy. having a world in which possibilities are endless is something most of us crave about. Those people often go searching for that special place somewhere in the world, not realizing that its been inside of them all the time.

Ramino is our cartoon; Ramino is our special place; and yet, Ramino is us.

The idea for it started back in February, when Rami and I were searching for a bigger purpose, that fulfilling feeling of being content with your-self and your life. I was doing the late night shift in a hostel while Rami decided not to party much but instead to come back home early. It was by pure coincidence that we ended up talking late at night about a possibility of doing something more. Being that were two people in love with travelling the topic appeared itself like a light bulb over a coyotes head as he tries to catch the roadrunner. It was only later that wed real-

ized that the idea was there, in front of us, all the time only then the time wasnt right for us to make that step. And with Rami finishing her EVS and me finishing my MA the opportunity appeared.

We want to make this trip not only about visiting places but experiencing them, pushing our own limits and doing things weve never done like playing ukulele in the streets or driving a Vespa through Cinque Terre. And while the good idea is worth thinking of, a great one is worth doing.Currently, were in Barcelona, where the morn-ing streets are filled with flamenco music, after-noons with tourists camera flashes and night parties last until the morning. We had just left Croatia behind us where we visited Plitvice a must-see place on most of the must-see lists, and soon we will be going to Valencia and then Italy.

And the funny thing is we have just started.

youth exchange - dance my culture

From 7th to 17th May 2013 in Struga, Macedonia, was held youth exchange DANCE My Cul-TuRE, supported by the European Commission through the youth in Action Programme, or-ganized by Volunteers Center Bitola. Project in which took part representatives from 5 coun-tries - Georgia, Italy, Malta, Macedonia, Turkey, designed to introduce each other cultures in a different way through cooking, theater, games, dancing, discussions, etc., and at the end was performed jointly flash-mob as creation of several traditional and modern dances at the heart of the city Bitola, Macedonia. In order to bring how significance this event was for par-ticipants you can read what wrote one of the participants - Davit Gigilashvili from Georgia

Dance Performance in Bitola.

Once upon a time, as usual, I was surfing on the Internet, look-ing for something interesting, when unexpectedly I came across a notification from my university, inviting me to macedonia. international project, Dance my culture, Dance, youth from european countries, mac-edonia all these words seemed to be attractive. Especially exotic seemed it-self location, Macedonia, which really deserved title of one of the most un-discovered attractions all across the Eu-rope. Then was boring applying process, interviews, then happy call from sending organization and days full of impatient waiting. From the very first minutes, we arrived in Skopje, me and my Georgian friends start-ed speaking how the nature, mountains, environment resembled our homeland. From the very first minutes I was feeling home and thanks to the warm organizers and hosts, this feeling lasted till the end.

Then, there was one of the most memo-rable 10 days of my life. 10 days near stun-

ningly beautiful Ohrid lake, 10 days with interesting, friendly and warm people. Just imagine, 10 days without boring rou-tine everyday, 10 days of playing, parties, 10 days of dancing, dancing and dancing. Every day, of every nation, arose a strong desire into me to travel to these coun-tries. I have hardly ever felt such a huge responsibility, responsibility to be a repre-sentative of your country, when the first and most lasting impression on your coun-try is depended on you, but its a huge pride too, to be a face and an icon of every Georgian, something like the chosen one.

So, my bridge to Europe is already built. Built with brilliant experience and brilliant memories. Ive become an youth in Ac-tion. I wish to come back again !

A perfect week in nature. The train-ing course Women for the planet, was Indulge in unlimited possibili-ties for relaxation, pleasure and new knowledge and skills in the natural sur-roundings of mountain Pohorje, in Maribor, Slovenia. This year Maribor is announced as European youth Capital.

The goal of this training course was to gath-er 30 participants from 13 different countries and to educate them informally with knowl-edge and skills to work in the field of gender imbalance in the society and in the work-place. We learn how to act in community as a leader, how to communicate with other people in non violent way, and always to care about your feeling and needs. As a young person and volunteer we learn how to pro-mote sustainable development in our com-munity, focus on social, e c o n o m i c a l and environ-mental is-sues.

As a wom-en, from this training course we learn how to express our

feeling, how to develop our leadership skills and how to eliminate the discrimination on the basis of gender, about environmental issues and climate change. The most inter-esting part was yoga session combined with vegetarian food. That session was designed to connect all participants, to think as a un-ion occurring between body, mind and spir-it. Through stretching, strengthening and breathing techniques, the yoga practice cre-ates a more relaxed and resilient attitude, about your problems, to feel that in which part of your body exist.

The training course Woman for the planet I will remember as a combination of nonfor-mal education, yoga session, healthy food and refreshment in the beautiful nature.
