ESSAYS

1. IMPORTANCE OF SCIENCE IN EDUCATION

No one will argue that we live in the age of technology and science. Technologies are

everywhere. They accompany us from the earliest years of our life. Years ago, the biggest

technology was a TV-set.

A child was smart when it could turn this appliance on and off or change channels. Nowadays, the

situation is completely different. There are computers, smartphones, tablets and robots practically

everywhere. Business, marketing, healthcare, banking, education, agriculture and many other

branches of human activity are connected with science and technology. We depend on

technologies and we should understand and know them profoundly. No wonder, it is vital to

introduce technologies into the process of education as early as possible. It is considerable to

make children become acquainted with computers and other high technologies.

It is not a secret that technologies make educational process easier. Imagine that there are schools

that do not possess enough textbooks. The solution of this problem is simple. Instead of the

constant production of paper textbooks, it is better to possess the simplest tablet containing all

books in its memory. E-books are very useful and economical. This invention helps us save forests

and consume less paper. Then, it is reasonable to use computers to visualize the process of

education. Finally, technologies help students listen to foreign languages and watch films in the

original. It is better to listen to the recorded speech of the native speakers than your teacher’s

speech. The role of science and technology in education sector cannot be overestimated. We

should introduce technologies into the educational process in order to make science close and

understandable to children.

“Science is a wonderful thing if one does not

have to earn one’s living at it.” (Albert Einstein)

2. MERITS AND DEMERITS OF SCIENCE

The earliest scientists, like the inventor of the wheel, were practical people. They were interested

more in making life easier for themselves and their friends, rather than fame and fortune This

tradition of scientists has come a long way and we see that today we have machines for whatever

we imagine ranging from simple bulb to the more complicated computer.

Scientist in the world of health are toiling continuously to find ways to improve our health. They

have found cures to many painful illnesses. The dreadful smallpox, which once claimed to be

incurable and epidemic diseases are under control. Due to these efforts of scientists, the life

expectancy has increased considerably.

“Science is the key to our future, if you don’t believe in

science, then you are holding everybody back.” (Bill

Nye)

We see thousands of machines that make our life easier and richer. Many difficult tasks like

washing clothes and grinding are done easily by machine. A lot of research has been done for

inventing these machines. Besides all this, we have the machines of transportation and the

industrial machines which have given new meaning to our life.

Yet, there are some disadvantages of science. Science has not only invented a robot but has

turned a man into a robot in some cases. Satellites are widely used for spying purposes.

Page 5: SUMMER VACATION TASK 2020-21In Multan, is the shrine of Ghous Bahaul Haq. 4. In Sindh are the tombs of two great saints; Shah Abdul Latif and Qalandar Lal Shahbaz. Q5. What is a ‘Bhit’?

Excessive industrialization has led to air pollution and other health hazards. It is indeed a shame

that so much scientific skills are being misused to create weapons of destruction and death.

Strangely enough, it is the same kind of science that is being used. We, the humans, will surely

have a better life if all the science just seeks to improve the life of man rather than being dedicated

to our destruction.

“Science is a wonderful thing if one does not have to earn one’s living at it.”

(Albert Einstein)

3. RESPONSIBILITIES OF A GOOD CITIZEN / DUTIES OF A GOOD

CITIZEN

"A citizen is the finest fruit of the social evolution"

(Swami Regnant)

A good citizen needs to possess many qualities. As a citizen enjoys some right, at the same time

he has some duties to perform. He has to keep his responsibilities in his mind all the time like he

should not injure the sentiments of others, should protect the weak against the strong, and should

stand by the state under all the circumstances.

A good citizen must be ready to sacrifice everything for the sake of his country. He is also required

to be patriotic and true lover of his country. He has to obey the laws of his country. A good citizen

must respect the cultural heritage of his country. He must always keep in his mind the future of

his country. He should raise the standard of living of his country people by working honestly. He

must study hard to bring good in the country and to develop his country.

“Every good citizen adds to the strength of a nation”

(Gordon B. Hinckley)

A good and responsible citizen must respect the institution of his country. He must be vigilant

against the enemies of his country. He must work with heart and soul for the unity of the nation.

A good and intellectual citizen should have the spirit of friendship and cooperation. All these

qualities make a person a good citizen.

4. WAR AGAINST TERRORISM

“Terrorism is an act of killing innocent people in order to

impose terror on their minds”

The word terrorism comes from Terror. Certainly, it is a horrifying job. According to some wise

thinkers, every act which produces terror among the people is called “Terrorism”.

Today, every person, living in any part of the world is influenced by terrorism. Especially, Muslims

of the world are considered as terrorists by Western countries after the incident of 9/11.

It is very clear that all the people, either Muslims or non-Muslims are not terrorists. There are a

number of people which are doing such activities to spread Terror and are spoiling the name of all

the nations

“Humanity is like an ocean, if few drops are dirty it doesn't

mean that the whole ocean is dirty.”

Whole world, including Pakistan has been fighting the war against terrorism for more than 10

years but no positive results have been seen. Pakistan has given many sacrifices in this war

including soldiers, citizens, land, time and other things but still it is considered as a dangerous

country. Several people are killed in bomb blasts and target killing and several shops are robbed.

No one is safe within the boundary of Pakistan. Western media is showing the ugly pictures of

Islam, Muslims and Pakistan. Western politicians, scholars and journalists are trying their tooth

and nail to prove that Islam means terrorism and every Muslim of the world is terrorist.

In this critical and ironic situation, we have to ponder at a deeper and detailed extend. Rather

than saying yes to all American commands, we have to think that all our sacrifices are wasted by

Western countries and every time we are demanded to do more. The war against terrorists must

be stopped because it has almost brought Pakistan to its end.

Page 6: SUMMER VACATION TASK 2020-21In Multan, is the shrine of Ghous Bahaul Haq. 4. In Sindh are the tombs of two great saints; Shah Abdul Latif and Qalandar Lal Shahbaz. Q5. What is a ‘Bhit’?

Islam is a religion of peace, love and tolerance. Its concepts are totally against terrorism. I firmly

believe that if we follow Islamic rules and act according to its teachings we can get rid of terrorism.

Allah has told in Holy Quran:

“Assassination of a single man is the assassination of all humanity”. (Al-Quran)

5. A PICNIC AT SEASIDE

This is the era of Science and Technology. Man is so busy earning his living. That it often becomes

impossible for him to recreate himself. As far as a student is considered, he also is a part of this

hectic life. He has to study all the time, preparing for the upcoming exams. But it is rightly said

that:

“All work but no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

Luckily, my classmates and I had a chance to go for a picnic, a couple of months ago, right after

the midterm exams, we decided to go to the seaside. We set out for our journey at about 3 o'clock

and reached there in about half an hour.

As soon as we reached the shore, we came out of our vehicle and started running towards the

sea. We kept playing with the waves for a long time. We were so busy and enjoying ourselves

that we forgot everything about the time. Just before the sunset we had some burgers and cold

drinks.

Cold wind was blowing. We were extremely tired, so we sat down near the shore. There, we

observed the sunset view, which was mesmerizing. We were all fascinated to see such a beauty

of nature. Reflection of the setting sun on the water surface made us feel as if we were in the

paradise. Sounds of Maghrib Azan brought us back to reality and we all decided to get back to

home after offering prayers. It was a picnic which we can never forget.
