GREEN SCREEN 2012A season of films exploring our changing environment

A TUR TL E ’S TALE (U)

A spectacular animation following the adventures of

Sammy the sea turtle as he searches the ocean for his one

true love. During the epic journey which all turtles must

accomplish before returning to the beach where they were

born, Sammy dodges every possible danger; he battles with

piranhas, escapes a fish eagle and searches for a

mysterious secret passage, in the hope of meeting Shelly

again. Throughout this fifty-year voyage we see the effects

of global warming take their toll on the oceans though

Sammy’s eyes.

Telling of the rise of the sharp-suited Bugsy Malone and the

battle for power between Fat Sam and Dandy Dan, this

Chicago-set gangster movie is a classic of the genre with

one big twist – all the gangsters are children and the gang

wars are fought not with bullets but with ‘splat guns’ that

cover the victims in cream.

Ok, it won’t end up in a custard pie fight, but let your

students let down their hair after their exam stress with a

screening of the fabulous BUGSY MALONE!

the school year with a selection of films!

Come along to your local Picturehouse cinema from Friday

6 July up until the last day of term, when we be showing

daily 10am and 10.30am screenings of recent children’s hit

movies! Tickets are £2.50 per pupil.

R EQ UE S T A F I L MPicturehouse Education have access to a wide selection of

films which we are more than happy to book for a private

screening on a weekday morning.

We can get hold of almost anything as long as it’s in UK

distribution and is at least 10 weeks after its cinema release

date. You can choose from popular recent films or request

an all-time classic!

Tickets for private screenings are £3.50 per student for 50+

students or £175 flat rate for a smaller group. We need

around 10-14 days minimum to guarantee your booking.

B BF C WO RKSHOPS

Have you ever wondered why some films are rated U and

some PG? What makes a 12A? Who decides?

Come along to our clip and discussion based cinema

workshops hosted by a British Board of Film Certification

examiner. Find out the background info on such things as:

many films a day the BBFC have to view, the process of

classifying a film, which films have proved the most

surprisingly controversial, and get a flavour of the history of

the BBFC’s 100 years of film classification plus much more!

This event is expected to last 90 mins.

their art displayed in cinemas across the country! As part of

the BBFC's centenary they are offering children the chance

to design a new BBFC black card - entries have to be in

Prices start from £150+VAT per hour, for a morning event in

one of our cinema screens.

If you’d like to book a group to see a film on general

release we are very pleased to be able to offer a special

Educational discount! To book your group in to see a

general release film please get in touch at least a week

beforehand to discuss options. Once we’ve confirmed that

the discount is available for the show you’d like to see we’ll

send you an invoice via email.

PUBLIC SHOWS before 5pm (please note showtimes are

confirmed on the Monday of the week before)

£4 per student for a standard film

£5.30 per student for a 3D film (+70p 3D glasses, we can try

to source recycled ones for you, but they are used!)

PRIVATE SCREENINGS 10 or 10.30am weekday shows (Films

are confirmed on the Monday of the week before – e.g.

Mon 7 May for films showing Fri 11-Thurs 17 May)

£4 per student for a standard film for a group of 40 or more

students, or £160 flat rate for a smaller group

£5.30 3D film (+70p 3D glasses) for a group of 40 or more

students, or £212 flat rate for a smaller group (+70p per pair

3D glasses).

These discounts are available on any general release film

except in the first week of release (although for smaller/

independent films this may be possible). Requests must be

made at least a week in advance.

HOW TO BOOK

Ticket prices for our EDUCATIONAL EVENTS PROGRAMME are

£2.50 per child. There is no minimum booking.

Tickets for PRIVATE SCREENINGS are £3.50 per child for a

minimum of 50 children. For a group of fewer than 50 pupils

it costs £175 flat rate.

Accompanying adults are admitted for free.

contd.Please be aware that as our cinema education programme

runs before the cinema’s usual opening hours we don’t

have the kiosk open for snack purchasing that is not pre-

ordered.

For Educational Events we prefer not to have snacking in

the cinema as it disrupts the interactive introductions.

If you will have trouble making it back to school for lunch &

want to bring your packed lunches with you, we can

reserve space for you to eat. We need requests at least a

week in advance to be able to request space and it is

limited so we can’t guarantee it.

We want to make our offer for schools as valuable as

possible for you, so we want your input to find out how we

could be doing more to meet your needs and support your
