Summer Camp at CBC is a time of excitement, challenges, outrageous fun and memorable moments for kids of all ages! Ultimately our goal is to provide an opportunity for your child to deepen their walk with the Lord through discipleship, bible study and worship. We are so excited that your child has been given the opportunity to join us this summer!

PARENT INFORMATION

GETTING READY FOR CAMP Although you may not be going to camp with your child, you may still feel like you are! Make sure you read all the information pertaining to camp in this packet including the frequently asked questions and the packing list! We are looking forward to sharing this exciting time with your child!

DAY OF DEPARTURE – SATURDAY, JUNE 8TH Campers should begin checking in by 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 8

th. Lines for check-in will be in the main foyer and

designated according to the camper’s last name. They will receive their name badge, luggage tags, and wristbands (if some have been purchased). You will be able to also drop off any letters and/or packages you would like delivered to your child while at camp. After luggage tags have been labeled and assembled to your child’s luggage, please help them load their luggage on the bus and find a seat. Their counselor should be on the bus waiting to greet them. *Please do not arrive any earlier than scheduled. We want our staff and volunteers to be 100% ready for your children!

WRISTBANDS You may purchase wristbands which are sold in $10 increments that your child can wear throughout their camp stay. The wristband consists of $1 tab increments which are torn off the band as they are spent. They can be purchased using the on-line form on the Kids Camp Webpage. Wristbands will NOT be available for purchase the morning of departure.

PHOTOS The Camp Tejas staff will be our photographers through our entire stay at camp. Photos are downloaded each day on their website camptejas.org for your viewing and purchase. Please be sure to check the website each day to see how much fun your camper is having!

DAY OF DEPARTURE – WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12TH We are scheduled to return to the CBC foyer by 3pm. Occasionally there may be slight delays due to traffic or weather. Please know that we will have staff members available in the CBC foyer who will keep you informed of any delays in our arrival. Please help your child unload their luggage from the bus upon their arrival. Before you leave campus, please make sure that you have all of your child’s belongings! Please check with the nurse at this time for any remaining medications (inhalers, epi pens, etc.)

HEALTH INFORMATION

We have a fully trained medical staff on site 24 hours a day in a well-equipped facility. We hope that your camper will never need to experience our nurse’s station, but if they need us, we are here to help them get back on their feet! We are committed to calling you if there is ever an issue

that affects your child’s camp experience. This would include the following circumstances: ● If your camper needs to spend the night in the clinic. ● If your camper needs prescription medication. ● If your camper needs to visit a doctor in town, get x-rays, or lab work. ● If your camper’s schedule must be changed due to an illness or injury.

HEALTH FORMS If there are changes to your child’s health condition or medications after their registration form has been completed, you may update their information on the “Camper Medical Info” form included in this parent packet and turned in during the parent meeting or at the time of departure.

MEDICATIONS Campers are not permitted to keep any medications in their cabins or in their possession. There is no need to bring over the counter medications as we keep such items in the nurse’s station. A designated medical professional will be available to dispense any over the counter medications as needed. Prescription medications must be brought to the parent’s meeting before camp or to the nurse’s desk at check-in the morning of departure. We prefer that prescription medications be in blister packs with only the amount needed for the camper’s length of stay at camp. If you are unable to obtain blister packs then we require that all medication be in their original prescription bottle with the original prescription on the outside and only the amount required for camp. Please give your child any morning medication for the day of departure. Once we arrive at camp it takes several hours to get our Medical Stations and prescriptions ready for dispensing. If your child must carry an inhaler or other emergency items with them, we must have a doctor’s note allowing for this exception. When camp is over, please make sure to pick up all remaining medications from the nurse including inhalers and epi pens!

ALLERGIES All allergies should have been noted on the medical portion of the registration form to include allergies from stings, foods, medicines, etc. If you are unsure of what you have completed on the registration form, you may simply complete the “Camper Medical Info” form included in this packet and we will ensure it is listed on your child’s registration form. We can provide special dietary needs for those campers that are under medical supervision or an allergic reaction is known.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ● Over the counter medications except maintenance medications that are taken daily, such as Zyrtec. ● Any vitamins or supplements that your child can be without for 3 days. Our medical team’s first priority will be

prescription medication. ● Your child to check-in if they have been running fever in the last 24 hours. Please let us know that your child is ill and

we can make arrangements for a late arrival to camp.

CONTACTING YOUR CAMPER

LETTERS Campers love to get letters! Since “snail mail” can take three to five days for delivery, please send letters before camp begins or put it in the mail bins at check-in!

PACKAGES You may send things that fit in an envelope to your child at camp by snail mail or via the mail bin at check-in. Remember it is not recommended to send large quantities of food items due to it bringing insects into the cabins. Also please remember to limit your envelope size so that we are able to transport them easily to camp and get them delivered.

THINGS TO REMEMBER ABOUT SENDING MAIL

● You may bring letters/or envelopes and turn them in the morning of camper check-in and put in the mail bins according to your child’s cabin.

● Allow plenty of time for snail mail to work. Send your letters/packages several days before camp. ● Mail will not be delivered on the first or last day of camp. Deliveries will be made on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday only.

If you will be dropping off mail at check-in, please include the following information: Child’s Name Cabin Counselor Please use the address below if sending mail via snail mail: Camp Tejas Attn: CBC Kids Camp Child’s Name/Counselor Name/Cabin 1038 PR 2191 Giddings, TX 78942

PLEASE DON’T ● Tell your camper how much you or the family pet misses them. It will only make them homesick. ● Ask your camper to email you – they can’t. ● Expect a letter in return – your camper is too busy having a blast!

UNDELIVERED LETTERS AND PACKAGES Letters that arrive late to camp and have not been delivered to your child will be brought back to CBC. We will hold these items for at least two week after camp before disposing of them.
