ARAB 424, 15 Credits(ARAB 421, 422 and 423 combined)
This course emphasizesArabic language acquisition
and cultural exploration in an immersive environmentthrough listening, speaking,
reading and writing. The mainfocus will be on developing
communication skills with theultimate goal of preparing
students for advanced Arabicstudy.
ARAB 496, 3 Credits
Students in this course will
participate in many importantdiscussions focused on
dominant cultural themes intoday’s Arab and Islamic
world. Using their own day-
to-day experiences, studentswill engages in a series of
cultural debates that willbring them to a closer understanding of Arab and
Islamic societies.

IntensiveArabicandCultureinMorocco isaneight-week program integrates
two courses that focus on studying Arabic and exploring Arab and Islamic
culture.TheprogramisbasedinthemedievalcityofFes(Fez),theculturaland
intellectualcapitalofMorocco.
During the first seven weeks, students will primarily focus on completing
Intermediate Arabic (second year). Throughout this portion of the program,
studentswillcloselyexperiencelifeandculturethroughhome-stays,guidedfieldtrips,andvisitstomarkets,shrinesandworkshops.
The lastweekof theprogramwillbededicated tovisiting the imperialcityof
MarrakeshandculminateinEssaouira,homeoftheGnawaMusicFestival.
