About Summer SchoolThe Summer School got its inspiration from Lugano Summer School on Health Policy, Economics and Management in Switzerland. Within two years Ukrainian Summer School has become regional platform for education and networking for the health care managers from Eastern Europe (EE).

The Summer School stimulates the process of health systems transformation in the countries of EE, because it responds to specific needs and context of Eastern European audience. The language-friendly environment (official English and Ukrainian; additional Russian) promotes effec-tive communication and sharing experience between participants and professors.

Modules and FormatThe Summer School 2015 suggests three parallel thematic sections, so participants are able to select the one most interesting and relevant. Each thematic section consists of two consecutive modules scheduled across all 6 days of the School.

Section 1. Planning and Financing of Health Care System. The section will be especially interesting for the administrators of health care system, policy makers and civil society representatives. It provides participants with modern approaches and tools for the planning and financing of health care system, supplemented by the regional country examples. During the first 3-day module the participants will work in groups under the creation of local health care system, considering epidemiological, financial and other factors. Within the second module the participants will become aware of effective financial models of health care system and the experience of the countries on financial reform.

Section 2. Management of Health Care Facility. This section is designed mainly for the managers of health care facilities, their deputies and chiefs of departments. The first module will immerse the participants into the theory and methods of change management. In particular, it will discover the topics of leadership, changes in professional organizations, learning organizations, etc. The module foresees the intensive work in groups on practical tasks. Within the second module the participants will further explore the tools of opera-tional management and will study real examples of state and private facilities.

Section 3. Communication in Health Care. This section is oriented towards the managers interested in effective communication strategies for their facilities, regions or civil initia-tives. During this section the participants will develop in groups the communication strate-gies according to the defined problems. In the frame of the strategies the participants will learn to define their target audiences, effective messages, appropriate communication channels, partners, etc. Gained skills will be applicable in the different spheres of life. The section demands active involvement and presentation for every participant.

Morning plenaries and evening discussions featuring the most interesting topics will be organized for all the participants to foster networking and experience exchange.
