The 10-week summer internship comprises of two 5-week placements across our business teams. Interns work with the two teams that best suit their skills and interests. Specific dates are tailored around our successful candidates’ availability.

Each intern has a mentor who provides them with guidance and the professional support needed to make the most of their time at Orbis. Mentors help interns thrive and build connections across the business.

Interns are responsible for delivering a project that develops their knowledge of Orbis and the industry. Projects are designed to give interns exposure to different teams across the business, and to leave a lasting impact.

Client Services

We ensure that our retail and institutional investors have an excellent client experience. We have a strong knowledge of Orbis and our funds in order to answer queries and assist with the investment process. We work closely with our external administrator to ensure transactions and records are accurate and, with our dedicated technology teams, deliver client-centric projects.

Team members are energetic, proactive and work well with others. No two days are the same and the team is well versed in prioritisation and managing expectations.

Security Settlements

We are primarily responsible for liaising with traders, brokers and our custodians to ensure that fund transactions settle and clear in the market. We are also responsible for maintaining all of the securities that trade in our systems, and the team plays a critical role in the setup of new funds.

The team is made up of technical people who develop a detailed understanding of financial markets and instruments. Due to the nature of work, time management and attention to detail are crucial skills.

We prepare and verify reports for our clients with industry-leading quality and timing. To maintain such standards, we are constantly reassessing our reports, which leads to opportunities for innovative project work. We also respond to queries from stakeholders across the business on the funds’ performance, holdings and fees.

Team members are quantitative, with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly. They acquire key fund knowledge and develop skills such as project management and problem solving.

Client Reporting

UK Retail

We are responsible for the distribution and marketing of our UK retail funds. We develop relationships with independent financial advisers and wealth managers, and participate in national investment roadshows to raise awareness of the Orbis funds and their unique fee structure.

The team are strong communicators and are well versed in presenting to investors and distributors of the funds. The nature of the role involves working externally in a continually changing environment so team members tend to be people-oriented and resilient.

We are looking for penultimate or final year students from any degree background who are on track for a 2:1 or above.

As we offer on-the-job training, we are less concerned with specific prior experience than with meeting self-starters who are prepared to learn, grow and contribute.
