It’s almost summertime! I say almost because in my book, summer doesn’t really start until school is done. Summer brings about a different kind of busy, doesn’t it? For many families, summer is a little less structured; vacations, summer camps, time at the pool.

It’s important to embrace the seasons of life. Different seasons mean different rhythms, different tasks, different experiences. I hope that summer is a chance for you to refresh, to renew relationships, to be with your family a little more than usual. I hope that summer is a time for you to renew your relationship with God, to spend time in his Word and prayer. I hope that summer is a time to get some things done that you have been putting off.

Summer is different at Redeemer too. It’s a different kind of busy. Not as many programs are going. Many weekly programs take a little break in the summer. A lot of work is done to get ready for the fall when school and a new ministry year start up again. Lots of planning, lots of cleaning and fixing, lots of coordinating and meeting.

What is coming up for you this summer?

Here’s a few things I am looking forward to this summer:

Celebrating my parents 60th wedding anniversary in June. Reading a few books I’ve been putting off – hopefully while sitting on the beach in Half Moon Bay. Watching the Warriors win another championship! Working on “Launch” – a new four-week introduction to a life of discipleship that we hope to implement at Redeemer in the Fall. Cleaning and organizing my office at church. It’s amazing how messy things can get when you are busy. I have too many books! Celebrating Beth’s 50th birthday, our 27th wedding anniversary, and Elise’s 15th birthday. Watching Sam play summer basketball for Sequoia. Studying the parables and miracles of Jesus for the summer worship series. Forming a team to help lead the capital campaign in the fall which will help fund new initiatives in Redeemer’s

Okay – time to stop. My list is getting too long! What does your list look like? I hope it has some fun and exciting things to do! I hope it doesn’t get too long that you are overwhelmed.

Here’s what I do know – no matter what is on your list, God will be at work in your life, helping you to know Jesus better and to grow in love for him and your neighbors. Enjoy the season of summer! And enjoy the blessings of Jesus.

Redeemer members, you are invited to join the Board of Directors and Pastor Schult at the bi-annual congregational meeting, Sunday, June 10 at 12:15 pm. The board will lay out the ministry plan for 2018-19 and the congregation will be asked to vote on the budget necessary to support the plan.

May hands make light tasks! Redeemer needs additional volunteers to help with Sunday services and tasks around the church. Training will be provided, and people will work with you to cover your spot if you need to go out of town for a weekend. Contact the church office or talk to Paul Soule.

Poland Mission Door Offering June 3 The Poland Mission will be taking a door offering on Sunday June 3 to support program costs such as purchasing craft supplies, sports activity supplies, t-shirts and program support. Any amount of financial support helps the program bring the message of Jesus to day camp children in Poland. Most of all, your prayers of encouragement, guidance and endurance are needed as the team prepares for their journey which will take place July 13—July 25.

If you can’t make it to church but would still like to support the mission, feel free to use Pushpay, go online to www.redeemerministries.org or mail a check to the church office.

The BOLM is seeking to fill several positions. According to the constitution, Lay Ministers can be male or female, at least 21 years old, faithful and active confirmed members of the congregation. Meetings are the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm. The BOLM helps oversee the worship and spiritual well-being of the congregation. Today was our Mother’s Day lunch and Madel decorated the tables in Fellowship Hall in a May Day style which was so beautiful. Thanks again, Madel, you always have great ideas! Pastor Paul opened us in prayer and then led us in song for the Birthday babies this month. And then of course what we all wait for…his jokes and here are a couple of them – 1) The child comes home from his first day at school. Mother asks, 'What did you learn today?' The kid replies, 'Not enough. I have to go back tomorrow.' 2) A little girl came home from school and said to her mother, "Mommy, today in school I was punished for something that I didn't do." The mother exclaimed, 'But that's terrible! I'm going to have a talk with your teacher about this ... by the way, what was it that you didn't do?' The little girl replied, 'My homework.' Ruth lead us in a warm up exercises, she does such a good job, thanks Ruth. Officer Schrum of the Redwood City Police Department was here to advise us of all the scams going on. He was very informative, talking about the IRS calling us and he warned that the IRS never

calls and to beware of any phone calls you receive asking for money. He said they mainly target the 65 years and older groups. Never give out any info on the phone such as your bank account, credit cards or medicare numbers, and if someone calls or comes over saying they are the police, ask them for their name, badge number and tell them you will call them back after you have verified the info you got. There were many, many scams he talked about, he was very informative. Our Life Enrichment fellowship is so generous, you donated $77.00 this month for Street Life Ministries. I know they are very grateful for your support of this ministry. You are helping a lot of people, thank you! Madel prepared a spaghetti & meatballs lunch for us and it was delicious, we also had a green salad and French bread. Thanks again Madel!!! We thank God for another day when we can join each other to eat, laugh and have fun. Thank you God and thanks to all of you who put this together each month, we are so blessed. There is no luncheon next month but we can all get

together again in July where we can share God’s love and have another fun time joining each other for lunch and Bingo!!! Another reminder, that if you need help, a ride or any kind of assistance, please let us know and we will try and get you the help needed. Hope to see you all in July, and remember to bring a friend if you can.

Redeemer has new hearing assist aids for our friends who may have a need for them. No need to take out your own hearing aids, if you use them,, as they will fit right over your hearing aids. They will be available to use during the 9:30 and 11;00 services. They will be on both tables, in the narthex, leading into church. The ushers will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

A big THANK YOU to Al Diaz and Mike Mancini for ordering and setting them in place for us to use. The people already using them have said they work really well and have made a huge difference to them in hearing the Lord's words being preached in our worship services. These aids were financed by the Fred and Lois Turner bequest.

A MESSAGE FROM MR. M

ANOTHER GREAT YEAR!

Wow! It is hard to believe that the year is already almost over and summer is upon us. I want to thank each and every one of you for such a memorable year. God has put us all in a very special place.

I am very excited for the changes we will be implementing in response to the TAG report that you participated in creating. Change can be a slow and difficult process yet I know that God will continue to bless Redeemer School as He has done for the past 61 years! I look forward to how these changes will continue to improve our organizational structure, our academics, and the quality by which we expect all of our staff to work.

God has allowed us to touch the lives of many families and has helped us produce fine Christian students. We are very proud of our graduates and what they have become and are becoming. We will continue to prepare our students for the ever-changing society that lies ahead and give them the tools they will need to be successful Christian men and women in the years to come.

I look forward to welcoming back all our families who will be returning for another year at Redeemer. It will also be a thrill to welcome our new families in the Fall. We DO have an awesome God who continues to bless us to overflowing. We pray for His continued presence among us this summer and in the 18/19 school year.

GRADUATION 2018

Can you believe we are two weeks from graduation? Our 25 eighth grade students are preparing for their special night. These young men and women have been a part of Redeemer Lutheran School from as little as one year to as many as nine. They will now begin a new journey in their lives. We are so proud of their accomplishments and look forward to hearing great things about each of them in the years to come. We will miss them all!
