SAMR for Teachers

SAMR is an instructional model designed to help educators infuse technology into teaching and learning. Popularized by Dr. Ruben Puentedura, the model supports and enables teachers to design, develop, and infuse digital learning experiences that utilize technology. This course will help teachers understand the SAMR model and its application to their instruction. (1 credit)

Google Interland

To make the most of the Internet, students need to be prepared to make smart decisions. Google Interland from its Be Internet Awesome digital citizenship program teaches kids the fundamentals of digital citizenship and safety so they can explore the online world with confidence. Kids can play their way to being Internet Awesome with Interland, an online adventure that puts the key lessons of digital safety into hands-on practice with four challenging games. (0.5 credit)

What is Office 365?

What is Office 365? Well, actually, you probably use it every day! This course is designed to explain Office 365: the parts you know, like Outlook email, and the lesser-known parts like Sway. (1 credit)

SAMR: Teaching Above the Line

The SAMR model is an instructional model of integrating technology into the classroom for innovative instruction. Within the four levels of SAMR, instruction is transformed to become more authentic and engaging. In this course, you will learn to teach “above the line” and become a digital innovator in the classroom. (1.5 credits)

Pause, Rewind my Teacher: Flipped Classroom

Flipped classroom is an instructional strategy and a type of blended learning that reverses the traditional learning environment by delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom. It moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom. This course will help you understand and prepare to begin flipping your classroom. Sway is an intelligent digital storytelling app from Microsoft Office that is great for project or problem-based learning. Students can collaborate and use Sway to create engaging reports, assignments, projects, study materials, and portfolios. In this course, you will be introduced to Microsoft Sway and its applications to the digital classroom. (1 credit)

Computational Thinking and its Importance in Education

This course is designed for all educators from all subject areas who would like to know more about computational thinking and how it can be applied within cross-curricular educational settings. (1 credit)

Introduction to Inclusive Digital Literacy

Digital technologies are now ubiquitous in the home, in school, and in the workplace. How can we equip every young person (especially those with special education needs and disabilities) to be digitally literate in a world where government is on-line, banking is on-line, insurance is on-line, shopping is on-line...as well as much of our social and leisure lives too? Young people adapt well to changing environments and demands when it comes to social media, gaming, and streaming media content: but they need more. This course attempts to set the scene for your classroom’s development of digital literacy, whatever your starting point. (1 credit)

Virtual Field Trips with Skype in the Classroom

A Virtual Field Trip is a lesson using Skype that will take students in an adventure without leaving their classroom. This is a great option to meet experts ‘out in the field’ such as museum tour guides, explorers, marine biologists, zoologists, and scientists to educate your classroom and take them on virtual adventure. Prerequisite – None, however, Introduction to Skype in the Classroom is recommended. (1 credit)

Windows 10

This course is designed to help you learn the features of Windows 10 and its applications for the classroom. Using a Windows 10 device is recommended. (1 credit)
