For the last few days, I’ve had on my mind the word “appointment.” There are appointments that everybody’s going to make, and there are some that I’ve broken and won’t have to meet. Appointment with Spiritual Birth The first appointment that I’d like to mention to you is one that many people have missed. It’s God’s will for sinners to be born again. The Lord loves every sinner on the face of the earth. “For God so loved the world,” and that’s big enough for me! It’s not His will that one should perish. God has set up another birthplace for you. And that’s the one you have to use your sense of hearing and choose for yourself. Because “faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Broken Appointment with Hell Now then, I want to speak about some broken appointments. When I was born the first time, I had an appointment with hell, with sin, and with the devil. And one July night in a little country church, an old-fashioned, tall, slender preacher told about Jesus and how I had broken that appointment. The devil had it all set. I was to meet him, and I was going home with him. And he was my father. He had it all fixed up. I was to live with him throughout all eternity. When the preacher presented Jesus, I broke that appointment with the devil and said, “I won’t be showing up! I’m not coming.” Oh, I changed directions that night! Jesus saved me! When I broke that appointment, I made an appointment with heaven. I made a permanent appoint- ment. HE gave me eternal life, and HE sealed my soul. HE wrote my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life. I’m glad that Jesus gave me something eternal when I broke my appointment with hell. Appointment with Death to Self There’s another appointment many people ought to keep, but they never do. I believe that God has set up an appointment with death for every child of God. I believe that every person who ever gets saved ought to die to the flesh. Paul said, “I die daily” (I Corinthians 15:31). Paul had an appoint- ment every morning when he got up and said to the undertaker, “I want you to haul old Paul off today, and I want you to bring Jesus back when you come.” He said, “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me” (Galatians 2:20). The biggest need in our churches today is crucified church mem- bers. When you get crucified, your feelings won’t get hurt anymore. You can’t hurt a dead man! Have you come to a place where you have died to self? God’s people need to keep an appointment with the undertaker. For the last few days, I’ve had on my mind the word “appointment.” There are appointments that everybody’s going to make, and there are some that I’ve broken and won’t have to meet.

Appointment with Spiritual BirthThe first appointment that I’d like to mention to you is one that many people have missed. It’s God’s will for sinners to be born again. The Lord loves every sinner on the face of the earth. “For God so loved the world,” and that’s big enough for me! It’s not His will that one should perish. God has set up another birthplace for you. A Testimony of God’s Grace

Seventy-one years ago, I first heard the name Evangelist Lester Roloff. A group of us country boys were playing sandlot baseball on a Sun-day afternoon in Riviera, Texas (south of Corpus Christi). Someone had mistakenly left the radio on in a nearby pickup truck. “This is station KWBU in Corpus Christi, Texas, and The Family Altar Program with Evangelist Lester Roloff.” Then a voice began singing, “One sat alone beside the highway begging, …Then Jesus came and set the captive free!” And somebody yelled, “Turn that radio off! Nobody wants to hear that loud-mouthed preacher!” HOW WRONG WE WERE!

When I returned home on furlough from the Air Force, I found a group of young people who had been praying for my salvation. God had lit a fire of revival in many hearts and homes across America. He was using the preaching of Evangelist Lester Roloff to renew Bible hope in the nation. In the midst of that revival (Sunday April 21st, 1949), I received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Then I remembered the preacher who interrupted my life by singing: “Jesus came and set the captive free!” A few days after that, I

comes to live. He said, “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above” (Colossians 3:1).

Appointment at the Judgment Seat of ChristThere’s another appointment that we are going to have to keep. God will see that we keep this one. Every Christian is going to stand before the judgment seat of Christ—each of us. And every ugly thing, and every deed done in the flesh, and everything we have done has to pass through the fire test. And He said that there is hay, wood, stubble, gold, silver, and precious stones. You know which ones will stand the test. Do you know what the gold, silver, and precious stones are? I know what the gold is, and that’s the Word of God. And everything we do that’s going to pass before the judgment that will stand must be done scripturally. I’ve got to be born of the Word of God which liveth and abideth forever; that will stand the judgment. Fact is, that will fix me up for the judgment seat of Christ—and not the White Throne Judgment—when I’m born of the Word of God. Jesus said, “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7). Christian, there is an appointment we are going to keep. We are going to stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Appointment with DeathThere is another appointment we are going to have to keep—that’s death. Dear friends, that’s an appointment you’re going to have to meet. I don’t know why people think they aren’t ever going to die. There’s an appoint-ment, and you are going to keep it. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Dear friends, I believe that it’s possible for every Christian in the will of God to live out his days. Paul said that he finished the course. He graduated with honors. Dear friends, let me ask you this: does death hold any fear for you? I believe that if God gives me living grace, He’ll also

give me dying grace. I want to live like a Christian; I also want to die like a Christian.

Appointment at the White Throne JudgmentThere’s one more appointment, and I missed this one: that’s the White Throne Judgment. It’s going to be a private judgment for a public crowd. You talk about a solemn moment! Every sinner is going to be present and on time—poor, trembling, lost sin-ners! Loved ones, kinsfolk, neighbors, anybody without Christ will be there. Speechless and with no argument, they will stand before the Judge of all the earth—waiting for the Judge to pass the eternal sentence. All sinners are going to be there. That’s the most horrible morning the world will ever know. Poor, trembling sinners will bow their sinful heads and say, “Jesus could have saved me, but it’s too late now.” And we’ll see them as they turn their backs on heaven and go down that long, black corridor towards hell. They will hear before they even get there the screams, and they will walk inside those black gates from which they will never return. That’s an appoint-ment every sinner is going to have to keep. Unsaved friend, just as surely as my life is eternal, your death will be eternal. There will be no penitentiary sentence to serve. It will be permanent — away from the Lord and away from God’s people. Would you like to know Christ now? This is the way: admit that you are a sinner. Admit that you cannot save yourself. Admit that Jesus died for you and rose again the third day, according to the Scripture. Do it today! Make NOW the time! Jesus will save you and wash you from your sin in His own precious blood, if you’ll put your trust in Him!

Every man without Christ may be hearing and facing his last opportuni-ty to be saved. Every Christian that’s backslidden: your next stop may be the judgment seat of Christ. If there’s a person that’s not right with the Lord

Appointments, continued and not right with your fellow Chris-tian, you ought to make it right now. It’s a shame for God’s people not to love one another. Dear friend, are you right in your heart tonight? Do you have that sweet peace that passeth understanding?

met Brother Roloff personally and heard him preach, “The Just Shall Live By Faith” (Romans 1:17). I was only a nineteen year-old soldier boy, but I knew I had found what living was all about!

Betty Sue and I listened to Brother Roloff preach that “He is a reward-er of them that diligently seek Him.” We witnessed the evidence of Bible faith in his life. We chose to walk in his footsteps of faith, and we found that path to be the substance for every step and every stop in our journey. Brother Rol-off ’s example of victory can be a pattern for all who want to live by faith. He always said of Hebrews chapter 11, “I see in every verse a bottomless well of God’s prom-ises that never runs dry.” He also said, “I cannot give you faith. It is the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the child of God who chooses to hear, to believe, and to obey the Word of God.” We thank God that the Family Altar Program continues

to broadcast the uncompromising message of hope to this generation. At eight-six years of age, Betty Sue and I want to give our testimony to the faithfulness of our Lord and to the result of living by His Word. Our witness is based on the six-ty-six years of missionary experi-ences. By His grace, He has allowed us to give the Gospel message to millions, to establish many New Testament Churches, and to train hundreds of faithful leaders for Christ in Peru, South America, and Mexico.

Now we can report today that our opportunities are expanding! Eight hundred volunteer sowers are now helping us put the Word of God into the hands of thousands each day. Our teams are giving a person-al Gospel witness in the huge flea markets on our southern border and throughout Mexico. As we give this witness, we know it is largely because of the churches and indi-viduals who, by faith, have held

up our hands. Through the years, our God keeps a perfect record, and He IS a rewarder of them that diligently seek him! Thank you for your love and prayers.

Letters from Our Listeners

“Just a note to let you know how much I appreciate the Family Altar Program on WKXV radio in Knoxville, TN. Brother Roloff is one of the three most inspirational people in my life. What a GREAT help his preaching the true Word of God has been in helping me build better Christian character! What a privilege to have such great, pow-erfully anointed preaching available right here in the comfort of my own home!” F.E., Knoxville, TN

“Thank you for continuing the min-istry years after Brother Roloff has gone home. I love hearing his voice on WZYN in Valdosta, GA.” T.K., Valdosta, GA

“I have listened often to the Family Altar Program. What a blessing and challenge Brother Roloff ’s messages have been! I was given his “Bible on Cassette” albums by a godly friend of mine shortly after I was saved in the 90’s. Brother Roloff was a courageous man of conviction who loved His Lord because He first loved him (and us)!” C.F., Macon, GA

“May the Lord bless in all the good work you are doing for the Lord. We are in this old, sinful world, but we are not of it. I like Romans 8:18. One day it will all be over, and how happy we will be. Keep up the good work. Jesus is coming soon.” L.W., Walland, TN

“I want to thank you so much for continuing to air Brother Roloff ’s messages! His messages are so needed in the hour in which we live. There is and has never been anyone like Brother Lester Roloff! He fought the good fight daily. Praying for your ministry—that it will win the lost and bring back the prodigals to the loving Saviour’s arms!” G.M., Denton, TX

THE NATIVE VOICES PROJECTThe Native American community is America’s first mission field. God has raised up some dedicated believers living in tribal communities who are effectively reaching their own people for Jesus Christ. The missionary team at Regeneration Reservation has helped record their testimonies of salvation onto a DVD entitled, “Native Voices.”

This effective tool of evangelism continues to reach new reservation communities as well as reserves throughout Canada (To learn more, visit www.regenerationreservation.org.) There are at least 200 native people groups in the U.S. and Canada yet unreached with the Gospel. Many individuals in reservation communities have yet to receive a copy of this free, evangelistic gift.

The native people have done their part by sharing their faith. That is something that we cannot do as effectively as they can. They need our help to do what we can! We can purchase and provide for them this effective tool of evangelism to reach their tribal people for Jesus Christ. DVD’s are not expensive; we can purchase them in larger quantities for about $1 each. Certainly among God’s people there are those who could give a gift to purchase a thousand or more evangelistic DVD’s. A gift of any amount can allow us to help them to share through their testimonies of salvation that Christ is the Answer! “We are labourers together with God.” I Corinthians 3:9

For those who partner with us to purchase at least 25 or more of these evangelistic DVD’s ($25 gift), we will send a free DVD copy of Native Voices.
