In this week’s parsha, בלק sent messengers to get בלעם, a non-Jewish prophet, to curse B’nei Yisroel. Hashem told בלעם that he could go with them but he could only say what Hashem will tell him to say. בלעם knew that Hashem would not tell him to curse the Jews. If he knew that he would not be able to carry out his mission, why did בלעם bother to go? Rav Shach explains that when a received a prophecy it was נביאnot a clear message, rather it was part of a vision and the נביא had to figure out the meaning. The only exception to this was Moshe who would speak with Hashem just like he would have a conversation with another person. Bilaam’s plan was that when Hashem would give him the
vision of what to say, even if the true intent would be for a blessing, he would purposely “misunderstand” it and twist the meaning into a curse. So where did his plan go wrong? On the posuk “בישראל קם לא in נביא there was never a - כמשהYisroel like Moshe”, Chazal tell us that in Yisroel no נביא received a prophecy like Moshe, but out of Yisroel one did, that person being בלעם. Rav Shach explains that this does not mean that בלעם always received prophecies like Moshe. In general בלעם was like every other נביא. However, this one time, in order to stop בלעם and save Klal Yisrael, Hashem gave בלעם the message with absolute clarity so בלעם had no choice but to bless B’nei Yisroel.
Even with Tuesday off, to enjoy family and fireworks,SDC campers enjoyed a fantastic second week,
filled with special perks. The 40’s jumping on trampoline tumble mats into giant foam pits,
The entire division in trampoline dodgeball, enjoying the somersault hits.
A flip, tumble, and jump, on their fantastic trip to Bounce,Back in camp, the activities were pumping,
the water coolers drained down to the last ounce. The 30’s, 40’s, and Seniors started the highly anticipated Leagues,
Head to head matchups, competitive games, building spirit, sportsmanship and MVPs.
So many campers started off in the2 feet of the refreshing Simcha pool,
The lifeguards teaching them,to float and “crawl” while staying calm & cool.
By the middle of the week, the campers were excelling, in the shallow we could not keep,
So many 10’s campers and 20’s too,are now swimming in the 4 feet and the deep!
The Senior Division was in a totally different zone, with aerial action up to the sky,
Freestyle jump, joust, ultimate drop zone, and sky-slam-dunking way up high.
Their legs and lungs working hard (so were their smile muscles),as they defied gravity and soared in the air.
Back in camp, bunk vs. bunk in baseball, soccer, dodgeball, kickball, the top spot in each division to be crowned - beware!
Over the weekend get a good rest,as we prepare to continue the Simcha fun-fest.Week 3 is almost here – as amazing as can be,Keep the simcha on your face & in your heart,
and a special Gut Shabbos to every camper from SDC.
