KARATEFocuses on physical and mental training, teaching you the basic fundamentals such as blocking, striking and kicking. These moves will be combined in a sequence of movements which will help coordination, flexibility, strength and balance. Through hard training, students will learn about the mental training of karate. Uniform can be purchased through the instructor after the first class.

Y FIT PROGRAMYouth Strength Training

It’s never too early to learn the importance of exercise and being healthy.

At the YMCA of Greenwich, children must be 14 years or older to use the Wellness Area. Our Y Fit program teaches children ages 12-14 years old how to work out correctly and safely use the Wellness Area.

Upon successful completion of the class, youth will receive a pass and certificate of completion that will entitle them to use/ be in the Wellness Area, Monday – Friday before 8:00pm and regular hours of operation on the weekends.

Dates: June 23- August 13Mondays: 4:00pm-5:00pm orWednesdays: 4:00pm-5:00pm

*If your child has to miss a day, they may take the other class occurring that week so they complete the course by the end of the program

In order to receive a certificate of completion and pass allowing the participant to be in the Wellness Area, they must complete the full 8 hour training and test at the end of the program.

SWIMMING LESSONSSwimming is a vital life skill and we strive to instill a love of the water in all our students combined with respect for the water. We are a comprehensive learn to swim program for all ages. We provide skilled instruction in learning to swim, stroke development, and water exercise, as well as competitive swimming and private aquatic instruction.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:In-water evaluations are required for placement in all levels. Please fill out registration form and submit to the front desk. Upon confirmation, an email will be sent directly from Samantha to all participants. Parents may observe lessons from the mezzanine level observation deck.

NEW SUMMER SCHEDULE!Choose from one of our three options:

Option 1: 2-week intensive programEach participant that chooses this option will be in class Monday – Thursday for 2 weeks, for a total of 8 lessons. This choice will run 4 times throughout the summer, perfect for families who need lessons to work around their vacation.

Option 2: 4-week program

Each participant that chooses this option will be in class 2x per week: Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday for 4 weeks, for a total of 8 lessons. This choice will run 2 times throughout the summer.

Option 3: WeekendsEach participant that chooses this option will be in class Saturday or Sunday or both (depending on what suits your family best), for 7 weeks, for a total of 7 lessons.

PARENT /CHILD PROGRAMA special fun time for parents and children to interact. Classes include water adjustment, breath control, balance, locomotion, and water fun. Children should wear swim diapers and swim suit. No disposable diapers please.

FREE TO FAMILY MEMBERS!

blue marlin (6-15 months)For the beginner who has no experience in the water. Class focuses on creating a comfortable environment for both parent and child.

black marlin (16-36 months)Focuses on preparing child to be away from parent. Children will learn basics skills such as breath control, sit/jump and returning to the wall.

striped marlin (24 months- 3.5 years)Class begins with parent assistance and then progresses to an independent child class, with parent in the water. Focuses on expanding skills from black marlin as well as how to be safe in and around the water

PRESCHOOL AGES 3-5 RATIO: 1 instructor: 4 studentsThese classes are for 3-5 year olds who are ready to learn to swim without parents in the water. With the aid and encouragement of the in-water instructor, the beginnings of the front and back crawl are perfected. Children must be comfortable in the water without a parent present. Each class builds upon the skills taught in the previous level. In-water evaluation required for placement in swim program. Please call Samantha Lusher to schedule an appointment.

pikeRATIO: 1 instructor: 4 studentsDesigned for the non-swimmer or beginner, this class is designed to help children adjust to the water and develop independent movement. It teaches basic front crawl, back crawl and kicking skills, floating and pool safety

eelRATIO: 1 instructor: 4 students For children who are comfortable in the water and swim with minimal assistance but cannot yet swim the length of the pool. Child must be able to put their face in. Children are taught to float, kick, and perform progressive arm movements across the pool.

raysRATIO: 1 instructor: 4 studentsThis class is for children who can swim 15 feet with face in the water and no flotation device. It reviews and improves stroke skills on front, back and side, builds endurance and teaches treading water and rotary breathing.

starfish RATIO: 1 instructor: 4 studentsThis class is for children who can swim 25 feet with face in the water and no flotation device. It reviews and improves stroke skills on front, back and side, builds endurance and teaches treading water and rotary breathing.

YOUTH SWIM LESSONS AGES 6-12Each level is divided into five components: personal safety, stroke development, water sports and games, personal growth, and rescue. In-water evaluation required for placement in swim program. Please call Samantha Lusher to schedule an appointment.

polliwogsRATIO: 1 instructor: 4 students This beginner level class is for children who are uncomfortable or inexperienced in swimming. It teaches basic skills including stroke work, gliding, floating & kicking as well as beginner rotary breathing.

minnowsRATIO: 1 instructor: 6 studentsFor children able to swim 25 yards on front and back without a flotation device. It teaches stroke skills on front back and side, and rotary breathing. Children will be introduced to other components of swimming and butterfly kick.

fishRATIO: 1 instructor: 6 studentsFor children able to swim 50 yards of freestyle with rotary breathing, sidestroke, backstroke & breaststroke. It refines breaststroke, teaches butterfly, and improves other swim skills.

sharkRATIO: 1 instructor: 6 studentsThis class is for children able to swim 100 yards of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and sidestroke as well as 15 yards butterfly. This class improves all strokes and

MOMMY MEET UP PLAYGROUP!Looking for something to do during those hot summer days?

Our Mommy Meet Up Playgroup is the place to burn all that extra energy!

Meet new friends in a safe, free play environment while connecting with other parents of young children ages 6 to 24 months! We will have biweekly speakers coming in to discuss important parenting topics.

that the pool closes and reopens 30 minutes following the last thunderclap or lightning flash.
