Gregor is sponsoring a mini Balloon Fiesta, organised by Flying Enterprises, at this year’s South Glos. Show. The show will be held at Westerleigh Park on the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd of August and is set to attract over 20,000 people. Gates will open at 10.30. The Gregor Heating Balloon Fiesta will take place from 6-7pm on both days and (weather permitting!) will involve up to four balloon flights tethered by Gregor vans. Show goers will also see a few other fun stunts throughout the day.

Gregor acknowledged for excellent Customer Service

We are delighted to announce we have successfully secured a five year contract for the gas servicing, maintenance and installation across hundreds of Knightstone properties.

The selection evaluation process which Knightstone and its resident committee carried out was incredibly thorough and included interviews and site visits. We demonstrated our commitment to Knightstone throughout the process whilst also highlighting our very successful apprenticeship program and other social value offerings we currently undertake along with our proposed plans going forward. The contract is commencing from 1st July and we would like to take this opportunity to welcome Knightstone residents to Gregor Heating.

New recruits on board As a local company that installs over 1000 boilers a year in the Bristol and Bath areas plus the electrical services and other renewable energy technologies we provide, it goes without saying that the team is expanding. Here’s a low down on some of the new faces.

The lowdown on Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (DRHI)This is a new government scheme that offers grants to encourage the take-up of renewable heating systems (e.g. air-to-water heat pumps and solar thermal systems). It went live on the 9 April 2014 and replaces the Renewable Heat Premium Payment.

Successful applicants to the scheme will receive a grant in the form of a series of payments based on the output of their installation and a tariff/kWh dependent on the technology installed. Payments will be received quarterly for a 7 year period from the date of grant.

The Energy Savings Trust estimates these payments could be worth between £805 – £1,280 per year in the case of an air-to-water heat pump, between £2,325 – £3,690 in the case of a ground source heat pump and in the region of £300 for a solar thermal installation.

Gregor launches service division for renewable technologiesIn the last five years we have been installing a wide range of renewable technologies for customers looking for an alternative way to heat and power their homes. Earlier this year, in response to customer feedback, we launched our renewable technical services division. Lee Belcher (pictured), technical services manager explains; “This service was designed to provide quality aftercare for both service and maintenance, so customers can get more from their renewable technology and to help them to save money on their energy bills. We now offer full service and maintenance for air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps and solar thermal.

Get more out of your Solar PV system Did you know that on average, 50% of electricity generated by domestic PV systems is lost? Read on to find out how you can stop this.

With the cost of utility bills on the rise consumers are trying to reduce their consumption wherever they can. Peak generation generally occurs during the middle part of the day when the majority of Solar PV system owners are at work making it very difficult to consume all generated electricity. One answer is to better match your demand for electricity to that being generated by your Solar PV system, especially at this time of year when generation is much higher.

There are a number of devices that can help you do this. The most commonly used are the Immersun and ERS manufactured by PowerFlow (pictured) that monitor your electricity usage and PV generation very accurately diverting excess electricity to an immersion heater or similar. In effect they let you store the electricity you have generated as heat energy for you to consume at a later point. This will in turn reduce the usage of the fuel (gas, oil or electricity) heating your hot water saving you money.

She rang in asking for a boiler replacement, but it had to be a specific day she lived in Edinburgh & was only back in Bath for that same week. We accommodated this and we attended on the day requested. The quote was sent and approved within 48 hours. She asked us to do extra works such as new bathroom, shower, tiling and plasterboard. We booked all of this in arranged a final survey quote for the extra works. When booking in the installation Mrs Baxter again had to have all works done in a particular week & all had to be done within 5 days to fall in line with her tenant’s exam study period. We accommodated all of this.”
