The 9th Annual Golf Challenge for Children Tournament, presented by EDG Consulting Engineers, was held on May 7th, 2013, at WILDCAT Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
Over 120 golfers and volunteers came out to support Texas Center for the Missing, Houston’s Amber Alert Provider.
The day began with a Shotgun Start
sending 29 teams scrambling on WILDCAT’s unique Highlands Course, with an Awards Dinner following the day’s play to honor all the tournament’s competitors.
The 1st Place Championship Team was sponsored by Glazier Foods Company, and included Al Prendergast and Stuart Williams, with Al also winning the Closest to the Pin Contest. The Longest Drive Contest was won by Glasson Rogers from The McCole Family Team, and the Putting Contest was won by Rick Brooks of EDG Consulting Engineers.
Overall, the tournament raised $56,612 for Texas Center for the Missing – approximately
13% more than last year’s tournament. Thank you so much to our donors, board members, and volunteers who made the day a success!

Texas Center for the Missing is proud to reveal our
new logo!
In early 2013 we began working with the talented
designers at Limb Design, in Houston, TX, to find a
logo that spoke to our many strengths, roles, and
served demographics and yet was simple and timeless -
and we couldn't be more pleased with the result.
We are excited to explore the versatility of this logo, as
it represents who we are to children, partner agencies,
law enforcement, donors, and searching families. Both
professional and yet playful, we are glad for a fresh
look to help share our story.
We are looking forward to putting this new logo to use
as we continue to serve you and our community!
Texas Center for the Missing was once again proud to
facilitate the Texas Level of the National Missing
Children’s Day Poster Contest for 2013. Entries for
this year’s contest were received from across the state,
including Arlington, College Station, and Huntsville.
Criteria for judging included
creativity, coherence with the
theme, and the student’s written
description of her work. All
posters were required to include
the phrase “Bring Our Missing
Children Home.”
The 2013 Texas Level Winner is
Kylie Stanley, a 5th-grade student
from Huntsville, Texas. Kylie
wanted her poster to “help draw attention to children
who need our help, because every child deserves to be
happy and safe.” In addition to drawing, she also
enjoys reading, writing, and science.
Beth Alberts presented Kylie Stanley her award during
the week of National Missing
Children’s Day. Kylie is pictured

Beth Alberts, and Huntsville
Intermediate School Principal
Dr. Ivan Velasco. Thank you
Kylie for using your artistic skills
to educate others about missing
children!
June is Internet Safety Month! In order to combat ever increasing internet dangers, we are striving to strengthen our Internet Safety Fund (ISF) this summer. This Fund ensures we have the resources to
bring internet safety trainings to children and parents in our community. Go online to tcftm.org/donations to donate online, with all gifts received between now and July 15th designated to ISF. If you know of an organization that could benefit from an internet safety training, email [email protected]
with contact information.

Houston’s Regional Amber Alert
has a 94% recovery rate! So far
this year, TCM has issued 8 Amber
Alerts for 9 children with all 9
children recovered successfully.

We’re proud to welcome Video
Intern Taylor Greenwalt to our
team for the summer. Taylor is a
Media Studies Major at Austin
College, and will spend the summer
compiling videos, photos, and
testimonials to be used in our
outreach material for years to come.
This project is made possible by the
ExxonMobil Community Summer
Jobs Program.
Thank you to the Houston
Young Lawyers Foundation who
awarded TCM $3,500 in support of
our Missing Child Education and
Awareness Project so that we can
update and print new educational
materials. Thank you HYLF!
Our Case Manager Melissa
Rangel has worked 45 cases since
her hiring in November of last year,
representing 19 Missing Adults and
27 Missing Kids. She has also
served 48 searching family members
and investigating officers. We are so
grateful to everyone who made
funding her position possible!
Social Media is our #1 medium
for case referrals as more and
more families are finding TCM
online and reaching out to us via
our Facebook and Twitter pages.
We trained 81 Volunteer Trainers
on the NetSmartz Internet safety
program during the month of May.
That’s 81 new community members
that are prepared to teach children
and parents about internet safety!

Help Us Welcome Our
Newest Board Member:
Vincent Pilegge Manchester Terminal,
LLC
We at Texas Center for the Missing have been honored
and blessed to work with so many great leaders and
board members over the years.
Todd Saha joined our Board of Directors in 2006 and
served as our Board Chair from 2009-11, during which
time our board and special event funding grew
exponentially. Mark Farrell, of Vaughan Nelson
Investment Management, joined our Board in 2007
and just completed his term as our Board Chair
from 2011-13. Allen Shindler came onto our
Board in 2009 and has recently been selected as our
newest Board Chair.
As Todd rotates off our Board, Mark steps into his role
as Immediate Past Board Chair, and Allen begins his
Chair term, we can not thank
these talented individuals
enough for sharing themselves
with us. Your combined impact
on TCM is immeasurable!
We are always excited to partner with new leaders, companies, and community members. Please send your statement of interest to [email protected] to be considered for a role within TCM.
Sometimes your best supporters are
your closest friends, and nothing could
be more true in relation to our Board
Member and Fundraising Chair Cliff
West.
Cliff joined our Board of Directors in
2009 and became TCM’s Fundraising
Chair in 2011. He has been
instrumental in garnering special event
sponsors and community donors for
both our annual fall fundraiser and
spring golf tournament.
Cliff has also served as TCM’s amateur
comedian at our Champions for
Children comedy nights three years
running. But his dedication to TCM is
no joke. Using his Jones Lang LaSalle
real estate experience, he even
negotiated a reduction on our office
space lease!
Cliff, you have made us all proud to
have you as a Board Member, a
volunteer, and a friend. Thank you for
all you have done for TCM!
