INTRODUCTION
During the month of June 1982 linecutting followed by
ground geophysics and geology was completed on a claims group
in Tisdale Township by personnel of Placer Development Limited.
LOCATION AND ACCESS
The claim group is located in the north half of Lot 4,
Concession VI of Tisdale Township, approximately 10 kilometres
northeast of Timmins, Figure 1. Access is via a gravel road
which connects South Porcupine and highway 655. This road passes
through the southwest corner of the property.
PROPERTY STATUS
The claim group consists of two claims which are shown in
Figure l and listed below in Table 1.

PRESENT WORK
A total of 8.6 kilometres of grid lines were established
over the two claims to provide control for various surveys.
Geophysical surveys consisting of detailed magnetics and
VLF-EM were completed during June 1982.
Geological mapping was also carried out over the claims
and in the immediate vicinity.
DISCUSSION OF RESULTS
Geology:
A complete lack of outcrop on the claim group hinders a
geological interpretation which is largely based on the magnetic
data obtained. A map is provided, Dwg.184-30, which is essentially
a physical features map outlining in part surficial geology.
It is felt that two major lithological units exist on the
property a pillowed tholeiitic basalt sequence to the north and
an ultramafic with unknown komatiitic affinities confined to the
south.
Ferguson, 1968, suggests a major anticlinal axis trending
east-west through the centre of the property but no evidence
exists for the present data to support this.
Geophysics: MagneticsA survey utilizing a Geometrics G.816 magnetometer, with
one gamma sensitivity, was completed over the grid at 12.5 metre
stations along grid lines spaced at 50 metres. The survey was
controlled by establishing 4 base stations and by maintaining
frequent base station reading diurnal noise was significantly
reduced.
contd. ...
3.
The resulting data are remarkably consistent throughout the
length of the claim group defining two rock lithologies with quite
distinct magnetic signatures, Dwg.184-31. The south part of the
property is dominated by a strongly magnetic body of undetermined
width. It has been suggested by other workers that this may
represent a sequence of komatiitic flows but the homogeneity of
the magnetics lends more credence to the idea it represents an
ultramafic intrusion. A second magnetic high occurs in the north
western part of the grid and may be a separate ultramafic body.
The contact with the- tholeiitic basalts to the north is
extremely sharp, distorted by only a localized feature (faulting)
on line 9+OOE, 1+75S. The occurrence of a restricted magnetic low
over the entire length of the contact may be only a magnetic
shadow resulting from the contrast between the two rock types.
The basalts are restricted to the north half of the claim
group and are again very uniform in their magnetic expression
suggesting little in the way of extensive alteration.
Geophysics; VLF-EM
An electromagnetic survey/ utilizing a Geonics EM-16 coupled
with NAA Cutler, Maine was completed over the entire grid. Readings
were taken every 12.5 metres along grid lines while facing in a
southerly direction, Dwgs.184-32, 32A 6 32B, One anomalous feature
does emerge, striking east-west across the southern half of the
property. Although the cross-over is in the right direction it is
not supported by the magnetic data and a first assessment of this
feature is that it is surficial in nature.
contd. ...
4.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
The geophysical surveys have defined two distinct lithological
units that regionally appear to be stratigraphically above the
Broulan Reef geology which is a known gold environment. However due
to the lack of outcrop an assessment of the gold potential of the
claim group cannot be made at this time. It is recommended that a
limited program of overburden drilling and/or diamond drilling be
undertaken to provide a geological base.
