In the story, an Austrian Chinese called May, has come to Hong Kong to visit her three cousins, Danny Andy and Leon. Ant they decided to have some fun in Cheung Chau. They rent a small house from a strange old woman called Chan Po for a couple of nights. But one night, May heard some strange noises from the kitchen, she thought it was curious that the noise did not stop. So she went to the kitchen and tried to find out what was happening. Can you guess what May saw? She saw the ghost of a girl! Just after that, the ghost lived in May’s body and she started to act strangely. Fortunately, her three cousins discovered all these things and finally May was rescued by them, and she was also free. Reflections May left the deepest impression on me because she was so brave as to go to the kitchen and find out who’s making the noise. Besides, she could even keep calm when she met the ghost! I’ m very timid, if I were May, I would jut pretend that I did not hear anything. So I think her bravery is very admirable, and I will also learn to be brave. About a scene The most memorable scene to me is the part when May went into the kitchen and met a ghost. I wonder what May will see, at first, I thought it must be the strange old woman Chan Po, but I was shocked when I found out that it was not her! Beside this part is really exciting and scary, so I’ll never forget it. If I were to change to part of the scene, I would change the ending so that the three cousins would encounter some difficulties when they were saving May. In this way, the story will be more interesting and attractive. About a lesson learnt I have learnt that we should not believe others easily in our daily lives; otherwise, we might be in danger. Apart from this, I also learnt that we should give a hand to others when they need help.

  • Fok Yan Yin 1A (13) Title : Dragon Master Author : Brian Mulcahy Publisher : Manhattan Press (H.K) Ltd. Year of publish : 1995

Dragon Master is a marvelous story. It is about the adventure of a boy called Billy Kwok. This story is very amazing!

This story happened after Billys father, Jack came from Japan. Jack was a scientist. He

developed a new computer game of Chinese zodiac. One night, Billy couldnt sleep well because he really wanted to pay the game. So he stole the tools of the game from his fathers case. Then he started his special adventure. In the next morning, his parents found that Billy was playing the game. Unluckily, there was no supply of electricity from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If there was no have electricity, Billy would disappear! At last, Billy completed all the puzzles and reunited with his parents.

Billy left a deep impression on me. He was very calm, brave and clever. Although he went to a

terrible place alone, he still could overcome all the challenges calmly. He coud also answer some difficult questions when he was in danger. I learnt that we need to be calm even in danger from him.

In Thirty Seconds is the most memorable scene to me. This scene is the last scene of the

book. It is very exciting. This scene was about Billy want to see the Dragon Master. The Dragon Master was a very kind old man but after Billy answered the question wrongly, it turned into a dragon! And want to stop Billy from going back to the real world. At last, Billy was pleased with answer and went back home.

If I were to change part of the scene, I would make Billy stay with Chinese zodiac happily ever

after. It is because I think it is more creative. I learnt that we can not be too naughty and addicted to playing computer games. I think they

are very important in my life because if I were addicted to playing computer games, it would make my eyes bad. Also I wont get on well with my family members because I wont have time to communicate with them.. I need to listen to my parents advices too because their advice is very important for me!

  • Ho Wing Ki 1A (17) Title : Railway Children Author : Edith Nesbit Publisher : Oxford University Press Year of publish : 1993 The story is about family problems. The story happened when Roberta, Peter and Piylls were still children in London. After their father had been caught by the police, their mother took them to a little white house to live. There was a railway near by the house so they always had adventure around it. But they had not forgotten their father and Roberta tried to save her father. At last, their father came back. Roberta left a deep impression on me because of her bravery and confidence. She always wrote letters to an old gentleman to get help from him. She never forgot her father and was brave enough to save her father. I think I should learn from her. The scene of how their father came back and they embrace is the most memorable. It was because they wore a sweet slime of suffering. If I were to change part of scene, I would change the first part of this book because it is a bit boring. I have learnt that we should be brave and confident, also treasure the time we spend with our family. It is because bravery and confidence can help is succeed and we will live our lives with more hope; more important still family is the most important in our life.

  • Law Yik Lam 1A (24) Title : Ks First Case Author : L G Alexander Publisher : Longman Year of publish : 1975 Summary: It is a detective story. Its about a rich man who is dead. It happened on 17th November in England. Rich man Michael Gray, his wife Elizabeth, the clever detective Katrina Kirly and the housekeeper. The major happenings in the story were that Michael was killed with weapon, but the room didnt have any weapon and the room was locked. The ending of the story was the housekeeper killed the rich man and I felt very scared about it. Reflections A. About a character

Elizabeth left a deep impression on me because she quarreled with Michael before he was dead. So I think that Elizabeth was the murderer. The detective is my favorite character. She is smart and calm. I have learnt that when making decisions, I must be prudent and careful. I cant judgments without thinking thoroughly. She was considering carefully when she was inspecting the murder.

    B. About a scene

I think the scene in which the detective knew that the housekeeper was the killer was the most t memorable. The housekeeper told everyone that she wanted to kill the secretary, in fact. It is because I think it is very special scene in the story. I would change the book in such a way that the housekeeper really killed the secretary. Then, Michael could be happier with his wife forever. I think it is a good ending for his story.

    C. About a lesson learnt

I have learnt a lot of things about life. For example, we cant use violence to solve the problems. Its because it isnt a good way to solve the problems. Also we cant focus too much on money. I think family and friends are more important than money because money cant buy relationship and emotion. For more, we must spend more time on family. We can talk more with them to know more about them. I will remember those things in my life.

  • Chung Suet Wah Sheena 1A (10) Title : The Witches Author : Roald Dahl Publisher : PUFFIN BOOKS Year of publish :

This story is about a small Norwegian boy, his grandmother and the witches. His father had a business in England, so he moved and studied in England. Whenever his family had a holiday, they went back to Norway to visit his grandmother.

Once, when they were visiting his grandmother, his parents had an accident and so the boy with his grandmother and stayed in Norway. His grandmother told him many things about witches such as how they would harm children but wouldnt kill the children. They would for example turn them to a chicken and the childs parents didnt notice and ate the chicken. The witches couldnt be easily recognized. Although they had no hair on the head, no toes on the feet and had claws, they hid them perfectly. They would wear a wig on their head, could still wear pointed shoes and wear a pair of gloves to cover their claws so that they looked like ordinary women. The boy had met the witches twice. In the first time, luckily, he escaped from the witches. However, in the second time, he was found by the witches and was turned into a mouse, he could not turn back into human being again! But it was worth the while, because he saved all the children in England and turned the witches into mice. He and his grandmother then lived happily ever after. I liked this story very much, because I think that this story is very interesting and realistic. It will make you feel like that you are the little boy in the story. The plot is very creative. It is a fantastic adventure. Although it is a bit horrible and sad. I can learn from the boy, we must stay calm when we are in danger and be brave to over come the difficulties. Everything can be solved if you determination is strong. I strongly recommend my classmates to read this book because it is wonderful book which can provoke many different feelings from readers.

  • Chan Huen Yuk Felicia 1A (2) Title : Home Alone Author : John Hughes Publisher : First Scholastic Year of publish : 1991 Summary The story is about a naughty boy called Kevin who stayed at home alone because his parents and relatives had gone on a trip without him. While his family was on a trip, Kevin thought that he had made his family disappear because he had made a wish that he didnt want a family. He was very happy. He ate junk food, drank soda and watched movies all morning. Marv and Harry were burglars. They knew that Kevins house was full of valuable things. They also knew that his family was away for Christmas but they didnt know Kevin was at home alone. That night, Kevin saw two strangers outside the house, he knew that they would try to sneak into his house. He decided to fool them. This time, he made some grown up sized puppets out of his parents clothes. When the burglars looked through the window, it loked like there were lots of people inside the house. Later, Kevin set his traps for the second time, the burglars stepped into all traps and finally the police came and arrested them, by the time Kevins parents realized tat Kevin was not with them, there were very worried. The next day, they al came back and were relieved to see that Kevin was safe and sound. Finally, they had a great Christmas together. Reflections A. About a character

I have a deep impression on Kevin because he was smart and clever. His traps were tricky and funny as well as very impressive. He knew how to handle a difficult and dangerous situation alone. He acted like an adult without any fear. I have learnt how to calm down myself and fool the burglars. I hope I can be as smart as him if I face the same situation.

    B. About a scene I think that most memorable scene was when Kevin tried to fool the burglars for the second time, the burglar, Harry, climbed up the stairs to the roof which were covered with ice! He couldnt climb up the stairs because they were very slippery. The other burglar, Marv stepped on some Christmas ornaments and hurt his feet, they were all morons! If I were to change the scene, I would let both of them climb up the stairs to the roof and get stuck there until they became two pieces of ice.

    C. About a lesson learnt Through reading this book, I have learnt to be nice to my family because being nice to them can make them like me more. Furthermore, family is very important in my life. I cant live without them. At the same time, I have also learnt how to calm down myself if I face a dangerous situation. I think as long as we try overcome a problem, we can be successful.

Summary This story is about Geronimo who wanted to invite Benjamin and Benjamins classmates to visit his office for the school trip. Their business nature was newspaper printing. However, the teacher asked them to go to Niagara to see a waterfall, then Geronimo agreed to go with them. He thought that they were going to visit his office but Geronimo did not want the children to be upset, so he paid all charges of the school trip such as going to Niagra to see the pretty waterfall and learnt many things in there. B. Comments I think this story is very funny and it is easy for us to read. I have already read all Geronimo Stiltons books in Chinese, but this is my first time to read his book in English. Also I have just realized that I have to read more English books to improve my English standard and learn more different kinds of words. I think Geronimo is generous because he always does something which is good and also he always helps people too. We should learn this spirit from him and apply it in our lives to exalt the spirit of True Light Girls college.

Title : Eve of the Emperor penguin (Magic Tree House) Author : Mary Pope Osborne Publisher : Random House Childrens Book Summary : The magic tree house took Jack and Annie to Antarctica to search for the forth secret

of happiness for Merline. Antarctica is a place of ice and snow and penguins. Jack and Annie had to find the cave of the cave of the ancient crown. They have to face much danger. They have to climb over mountain and had to get away from the deep crack in the ice. Finally, they reached the penguins cave. They saw many penguins and discovered that the ancient crown was on a penguins head! They quickly stole it away and went back to the Magic Tree House.

Comment : I think this book Eve of the Emperor penguin is interesting and exciting. I have

learnt a great deal of information about history and the world around me. The story was very fluent and exciting that make me stay up all night reading it. Although the picture is not colourful in the book, it draws many detail things that make me understand the story easier. So, I think that illustrations are very important. The story teaches me to be brave at all time. We should overcome the difficult problems. Also, we need to be environmental friendly because the penguins will become extinct if the ice melts away in Antarctica. After reading this fantastic story, I know how to write passages and articles better.

  • 1B Ho Yen Kei (12) Title : The Witches Author : Roald Dahl Publisher : The Penguin Group Summary: A boy lived with his grandmother in England and his parents died in a car accident when he was seven. His grandmother always told him that real witches were the most dangerous of all living creatures on earth. They hated children so much therefore they worked out all kinds of terrifying spells to get rid of them! Also, his grandmother taught him how to recognize a witch: witches did not have finger-nails, witches did not have hair, witches spit was blue

One day, he realized the witches plan about killing children by turning them into mice accidentally and the witches discovered him! They used the mouse maker to turn him into a mouse! Later on, our poor little mouse tried to revenge for the children all over the world with his clever grandma. At last, all the witches were turned into mice! So, our hero lived with his grandmother happily ever after! Comments: After reading this book, this story becomes my favourite story and Roald Dahl becomes my favourite author. When I was small, I thought that witches are divided into two groups: one are good and always use their magic to help others , the other one are wicked and always bring people troubles. But in this story witches are like normal human beings, and uneasy to find out females around us are witches or not. The plot is exciting and the characters descriptions are funny. I am going to introduce this book to my friends, hope that they enjoy it!

Title: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Author: C.S.Lewis Publisher: HarperTrophyPublisher Summary: Owing to a war,the four children Peter,Susan,Edmond,Lucy were sent to an old Professor's house.Accidentally,Lucy, the smallest among her family found a magical world called Narnia. So did Edmond. However, he met a cold-hearted white witch who wanted to kill him and his brother and sister. Yet, he believed that she was a good person.Later, they came into Narnia and Edmond was captured by the white witch. To rescue Edmond, the others got the help from the real king of Narnia. They won the war and they became the king and the queen of Narnia. Comment: After reading this book,I think the storyline is attractive because there are different challenges for the main character and I want to know how the characters can solve all these problems. I wanted to skip reading the part the part when the real king of Narnia, Aslan, got shaved by the orge because the author could make me imagine how Aslan was being shaved by his enemies in my mind. It made me feel horrified and it was a shame that a lion was shaved by others in such a cruel way. My favourite character in this book is Aslan because he could win the war and he got shaved by his enemies for a chance to reborn,I think everyone should learn from his attitude. The most unforgettable scene in this story for me is the part that Aslan and the others helped to fight in the battle because I support the good side since I started reading this book. I was afraid Peter would lose without Aslan's help .Luckily, Aslan didn't die.I am thrilled after knowing that Aslan won this battle. Only one thing that I am not satisfied is that the illustrations aren't very good. It seems that the characters are robots. When the illustrator drew the picture of the battle ,he or she didn't show the power of both sides The illustrator just made me think that only a few people from each side joined the battle. Also, I think the queen could have been drawn in a more powerful way. She was just like an ordinary woman. Overall speaking,I think it is worth reading the book.

Second, when he skis, there is a dark mouse which skis very fast. Suddenly, they roll up and form a snowball. At last, Geronimo has the Christmas in hospital. Comments: I think this book is very interesting and funny. When I read this book, I laughed very loudly. In this book, I learned we should be optimistic like Geronimo. Although he needs to stay in the hospital at Christmas, he is still very happy, but not sad at all. Also, we should be generous like Geronimo because he forgives the dark mouse and they become a good friend. What s more, he is rave because he does not cry when he got injured. • 1C Yip Wing Tung (34) Book Title: High School Musical 2 The Junior Novel Author: N.B. Grace Publisher: Disney Press Summary: Its summer, and East High Schools students were in a surprise, since Troy Bolton accidentally got his friends jobs in Sharpay and Ryan Evans parents Country Club, Lava Springs. Troy promised to his girlfriend Gabriella Montez that he would stay with her for the whole summer. Sharpay tried to steal Troy from Gabriella. At the same time, the club was putting on a club talent show, and the Wildcats, East Highs students, planned to join. Because of fame and a scholarship, Troy decided to help Sharpay to do the talent show, instead of singing with Gabriella and the rest of the Wildcats. On the other hand, Mr. Fulton, the manager of Lava Springs, sent out a note that said the employees could not enter the talent show, including Gabriella. Gabriella felt fed up with Sharpays plans of stealing Troy from her and left the club. After that, Troy even had an arguement with his best friend Chad Danforth. At last, Taylor McKessie, Gabriellas best friend and Chad went to take Gabriella back to the club and they pulled Gabriella and Troy back againwith a song. Comment: I think the message that the book conveys is that friendship and love is more important than fame and scholarships. In the book, Troy lost both his best friend Chad and girlfriend Gabriella because ofhis want ofgetting a scholarship to university. In my opinion, although learning is inevitable, friendship is more essential because you can buy anopportunity of going to school, but you cannot buy friendship in any case. Also, I think that the author re-wrote the story pretty well, because the book was not an original work. The story that the author re-told is simple and it clearly states the meaning clearly. As a closing, I would say that this book is a great book to read and I would like to share it with my friends.

Title: Geek Street Author: Jim Schembri Publisher: Pearson Education Australia Summary: Geoff wanted to join the school athletics team very much. But before the try-out, Nathan let him drink a glass of chocolate milk which was mixed with lots of laxative. After that, Geoff was sick for two days. Then, he couldnt join the athletics team since he missed the try-out. Geoff was so angry that he played lots of tricks on Nathan with Lionel. Finally, they knew a big secret of Nathan. They asked him for confessing what he had done. Otherwise, they would upload the photo on the Internet. Therefore, Nathan confesse everything and all of them became happily ever after. Comment: Lionel found the information of Nathan and knew his secret so he asked him to confess. I think he was very clever that he thought of a great idea to make Nathan confess what he had done and let Geoff become a member of athletics team. Therefore, he is my favourite character in this book. When Geoff dressed in special clothes, I think that it was so amusing. Thats why it is my favourite scene. I think this book is just suitable for me to read because the words are a bit difficult. However, after I check the dictionary, I know the summary of this book and I have learnt a lot of things from it. After Nathan gave a drink which was mixed with laxative, their friendship was ruined .From this story, I have learnt that we cannot play tricks on others. Otherwise, we will have bad consequences. Also, I heave learnt that friendship is a very important in our daily lives. Friends can help us a lot such as thinking some ideas for us and solving problems for us when we encounter any difficulties. This book is so interesting that I will share it with my friends. I hope all of them will like reading this book and have lots of fun from it.

Title: Dear Dumb Diary (The Problem with Here Is That Its where Im from) Author: Jim Benton Publisher: Aquarius Summary:

The book shows Jamie Kellys Diary describing her school life. At the very beginning Kelly was very hatred about her school since lots of unlucky things happened in her school life. But after the other school (because their schools air-con had broken) moved in for a while, she changed her attitude of school life as she thought her friends had become friendlier. The most important point is she loved her school more and more! Comment:

The book Dear Dumb Diary is a very interesting book since its plot is really amazing. It can show the most authentic feeling of students. Although sometimes it is really difficult to do homework and we dont understand at all, we still enjoy school life since we have classmates working together happily every day.

My favourite character is the heroine of this story book, Kelly. She is a cheerful person. Also, she is optimistic and sensitive to her friends feeling! Therefore, she has lots of friends and all of them appreciate Kelly a lot. At the very beginning, Kelly didnt like her school since lots of unlucky things happened. But after some meaningful events happened, she found out that going to school was interesting and she changed her attitude of school. Its not terrible at all. After that, she enjoys her school life! I really like her characteristic and I will learn from her.

Compared with Kelly, I am not like her. I like schooling very much since I studied at primary

school because I think going to school is a very valuable chance for me to acquire knowledge. Many poor children have no chance to be educated. Therefore, we should treasure our chance of education. Learning with classmates is an enjoyable thing because we can feel and get a lot from it. Moreover, the teachers are brilliant too. They help us to tackle things we dont know patiently so we must be graceful to them.

I hope Ill have a substantial secondary school life and I will treasure every chance I have!

At the end, I think this book is a really interesting book. I like it a lot so Ill recommend this book to others.
