• the Biennial International Conference on Computational Linguistics (COLING) is the top conference in the literature of natural language processing below the ACL (ranked second in all the conferences in the NLP category by ArnetMiner: http://arnetminer.org/page/conference-rank/html/NLP.html).
• COLING 2012, was organized by the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB), at IIT Bombay. The conference is organized under the umbrella of International Committee on Computational Linguistics (ICCL: http://nlp.shef.ac.uk/iccl/).
• There were more than 1000 paper submissions, of which 173 accepted as oral presentation, 138 as posters, 66 demonstrations and 22 reserves.
• The total number of registrants has exceeded 700, with delegates coming from 60 countries.
• 15 focused and topical workshops and 6 high quality tutorials (two days before the main conference and one day immediately after).
• The organizer IIT Bombay: the premier institutes of technology in India (world-rank 227 by U.S. News).
