Guidepost Discovery & Cultural Tours in Indonesia Sumatra Orangutan Adventure 3 days - IND-T-20 KUALA NAMU - BUKIT LAWANG - TANGKAHAN - MEDAN Day 1 Kuala Namu - Bukit Lawang Arrival in Kuala NamU Sumatra Orang Utan Adventure Arrival this morning at Kuala Namu International Airport and with your local tour guide outside the main building for the start of your program. Leave Kuala Namu Airport and proceed to Medan the capital of North Sumatra, an interesting melting pot of Chinese, Malay, Indian and Batak people living together in harmony and here you make a tour around the city to see all its high lights. Begin with a visit to Maimoon Palace, built in 1888 by the Sultan of Deli, the former name of Medan, this beautiful palace is combining traditional elements of Malay, Islam as well as Spanish and Indian, architectural elements. The palace is until present day inhabited by the Sultan who remains a symbolic figures for the Malay community. The tour continues to the Great Mosque, built in 1906 by the first sultan and still considered as one the most beautiful mosques in the country. You also visit Vihara Guning Timur, an impressive Chinese temple. Lunch at leisure. After lunch you leave Medan and continue to Bukit Lawang at the entrance to Gunung Leuser National Park. Upon arrival at Bukit Lawang cross on foot the impressive wooden suspension bridge over the Bohorok River and check in at your lodge in Bukit Lawang. Dinner at leisure. Overnight in Bukit Lawang. Day 2 Bukit Lawang (Breakfast: Hotel ) Sumatra Orang Utan Adventure Breakfast at the lodge. Bukit Lawang at the entrance to Gunung Leuser National Park and is one of the last sanctuaries of the Sumatran orangutan. Start your trek early at 07:30 behind Eco Lodge (with an additional local English speaking Jungle guide). The first part is an easy climb to the forest for about 30 to 45 minutes the local Guide always sends a tracker ahead to check where the Orangutan s are. If some are seen in 1st part of the trek guide will suggest people who have difficulty to walk to return to the lodge with the tracker while accompanying other participants deeper inside the jungle (total about 3h up and down in the jungle it is quite challenging and can be slippery. Good shoes are recommended). After observing Orangutans continue down to the Orangutan information Centre on the bank of the Bohorok river (30mn), cross the river using an inflatable raft pulled by a rope (2 min crossing) and walk back to Eco Lodge along the river banks and main village of

Day 1 Kuala Namu - Bukit Lawang

Day 3 Bukit Lawang (Breakfast: Hotel )

Sumatra Orang Utan Adventure Breakfast is served at the lodge. After breakfast and check out cross back over the Bohorok river using the suspension bridge and continue by motorized becak to Timbang Lawang Eco Farm. Here you will see several local activities such as the making of palm sugar, coconut oil processing, permaculture system, rice treshing, After your visit the driver will be waiting for you with your luggage and drive you to Kuala Namu airport for your flight to your next destination.
