Suggested Learning Activities: Physical Wellbeing/Food and Health

Pick and choose activities that suit you. These are only a suggestion!

Check out ’Netflex’, which has been added to our Additional Home Learning section. ‘Netflex’ is the ‘Netflix’ of fitness and workouts, so have a browse and pick an activity that suits you. The document is fully interactive so all you need to do is click

on the image that you wish to view. ’Netflex’ has something to suit everyone!

Active Schools have set up a family orienteering course around our school grounds. There are 9 different flags to find which

all have a letter on them. Can you work out what the flags spell out?

Why not take part in a virtual climb? Miss McFarlane recently completed her own virtual climb, climbing 31,922 steps to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. You could climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower which is 1,665 steps or what about climbing 1,860

steps to the top of the Empire State Building in New York? All you need is a set of stairs to climb up and down. If you really want to challenge yourself you could give Ben Nevis a go - 8,810 steps or younger pupils might want to give their legs a rest

and climb up to the top of Big Ben, which is 632 steps.

Pick a song you like that has a good beat and create a fitness/dance routine to it.

Fake Away time! Having a take away is always a treat but can you create a healthy version of your favourite take away? e.g.

pitta pizzas.

Handwashing is of extra importance just now. Can you design a poster outlining how to wash your hands properly?

Why not have a game of family game of Fitness Monopoly? Or the Wheel of Fitness? These challenges are a fun filled game for all the family. Please scroll down to find further information.

Get creative with food e.g. make a train from peppers, create your own animals out of fruit etc. You could even make a

sculpture from grapes. All you need is some grapes and some toothpicks. Fun to make and tasty to eat!

Just Dance is a great way to have fun and keep fit! Visit their YouTube channel and find some fun dances to

follow. Click the link to go straight there:- https://www.youtube.com/user/justdancegame

Think before you drink! Lots of drinks have hidden sugar contents. Can you investigate the amount of sugar in a variety of drinks by investigating their labels? You could display your findings in a poster or a graph/table.

Create a poster about the importance of brushing your teeth.

What could be more empowering than learning vital first aid skills during lockdown? Check out this home learning pathway

Virtual Health

Week 2020

Tips to play at home

• Use ‘freeonlinedice.com’ if you don’t have a dice

• When playing in a group, decide the winning number of points (first

player to receive 10 points wins)

• You could play individually and count the number of points you get in

a set playing time (e.g. 20 mins) and try to improve that next time

Choose your level

• Bronze – use reps on board

• Silver – add 5 extra reps/seconds to every exercise

• Gold – add 10 extra reps/seconds to every exercise

Can you move 2020 times? We are living in the year 2020 …what a fabulous

number that is. Can you move 2020 times? DO 2020 sit-ups, keepie ups or

hoola hoops? What about jumping on the spot, bouncing on a trampoline or

bending down and touching your toes. YOU DECIDE.

Guidance

• Track your moves, use a tally chart to help you. You don’t want to end up

doing too many now, do you?

• Chunk it up, maybe start off slow, try 50 reps, 100 or maybe 25 and have a

break. Maybe you will do 500 moves at the start of every hour? When and

how you break them up is totally up to you. We don’t recommend you do all

2020 in the one go…that might be a bit crazy!

• Why don’t you choose 4/5 different exercises and do a little circuit, maybe

20 moves of each and repeat until you have moved 2020 times.

• If you want you could time yourself, add up all your chunks and see your

total time to complete all 2020 moves

• If you feel 2020 is a lot to do by yourself, share it out with a family member,

giving each person a certain amount…you choose.

Can you complete 2 different activities each lasting 20 minutes each? Maybe

you can do something in the morning and something else in the afternoon?

Guidance

• This can include your daily exercise – a walk, jog run or cycle.

• It can be something you do individually – Put on some music and dance, do a

HIIT session or yoga. • It might be something you do with a family member –

playing Swingball, Tennis or throwing and catching a ball
