Durable Solutions: Börger Rotary Lobe Pumps

in the Sugar Industry

In various stages of sugar production pump

demands may fluctuate. Without reliable and

resilient pumps sugar cannot be produced.

Börger has been in the pump business for over

20 years and has experience in virtually every

area of sugar production.

The Börger MIP-Design is a unique advantage

to minimize downtime and maintenance. MIP

(Maintenance In Place) allows for the quick and

convenient replacement of all wetted parts

without the removal of pipes, drives or other

pump unit components. This can be done

onsite by your own staff.

Quick, Easy & Inexpensive.

Börger offers rotors in various designs and

materials. For highly viscous and abrasive

product the Börger Premium rotor (in steel or

stainless steel) is recommended. The Premium

rotor has been successful in the sugar industry

because it is driven at low speed and is suitable

for continuous operation. Börger offers

19 pumps with a wide selection of casings and

protection liners. Diverse configurations and

additional components create a suitable pump

for every application!

Coated Screw Rotor:

The helical design of thescrew rotor ensures analmost pulsation-freeoperation and gentle handling of the pumpedfluids.

Pump Casing Protection Plates:

Constructed in wear-resistant steel, stainless steel, plastic or ceramic.

Premium Rotor

· Pressure Stability · Suitable for viscous and

abrasive product· Improved suction

Molasses | A producer of alcohol extracts ethanol and methanol from

molasses. The molasses is stored in storage tanks. For daily production a

Börger Rotary Lobe Pump conveys molasses to a production tank (also-

called a D tank). The pump is able to convey viscous product, is easy to

service and is resistant to pressure. For controlling overpressure a

Variocap should be used.

Fruit juice concentrate | A large ethanol producer uses a pump for

emptying tankers in which fruit juice concentrate is delivered. The pump

must be self-priming and pressure-resistant, up to 120 psi, to deliver the

viscous fruit juice concentrate. For two years the ethanol producer

experienced great success with the Börger Rotary Lobe Pump!

Raw sugar treacle | A large sugar producer requires a pump for the

conveying of raw sugar treacle. In the crystallisation phase, water is

extracted from the thick juice with evaporation crystallisers. The customer

selected a Börger Rotary Pump because of the high maintainability and

the elaborate sealing construction.

Remelt syrup | A sugar producer requires a pump for conveying remelt

syrup. It was important to the sugar producer that the pump ran smoothly

during the campaign, and that it can be serviced on site without the need

for dismantling and without major effort by his own employees. The

customer selected a Börger rotary pump and is highly satisfied.

Liquid Sugar | A food producer produces syrups, concentrates, vitamin

mixes and emulsions. Among others liquid sugar is used in the production

process. Since 2003 the beverage base producer has been using a Börger

Rotary Lobe Pump. A control unit combined with a frequency inverter

regulates the speed of the pump so the liquid sugar is conveyed in doses

from a storage tank into the mixing container.

Lime milk | Raw juice for sugar production is made from sugar beet or

sugar cane. Non-sugar substances have to be removed from the thin juice.

A French producer has been using a Börger Rotary Lobe Pump for 9 years

and is impressed by the reliability and the long service life.

Fill mass | A sugar producer is using a Börger pump for the conveying of

fill mass. In addition to low price and resistance to sugar crystals, the

Börger pump was installed because of it's high maintianability. The pump

is equipped with a seal flush and Premium steel rotors.
