    Pastoral Letter Dearly beloved,

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I

am sure the prayer season of Lent was beneficial to you. The Lord

would bless your soul and recharge it with His strength. Now, let us celebrate the

Easter! It promises glory and victory for the future. A smart person should always

include the resurrection of Jesus our Lord in his thought processes. It helps him to

have hope of victory and a sense of never giving up in leading a god-pleasing lifestyle.

At times of failure, the very thought and impression of Lord’s resurrection would

personally minister to us and evoke confidence and a hope of victory. Even if the

issues we are facing are violently drowning us to hit the rock bottom, we should reso-

lutely know that there is a way out and an escape and help will come in time. There is

a rising to new life even after banging the floor. The Lord has seen all the end points

for us in his death and has come out victoriously. For our sake he suffered and died

and is able to help us. That is the message of Jesus’ Resurrection for us. Charles Allen

said, “When you say a situation or person is hopeless, you are slamming the door in

the face of God.” Peter wrote “…the Spirit of Christ who was in them (the prophets)

… testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.” I

    Peter 1 :11

Why don’t we rise up from a failure and work on its victory. Victory is assured for us

in our resurrected Lord! Jesus promised that those who die (by living) in Christ, both

physically and emotionally, will resurrect again to a future. The proof is this: Jesus

has already resurrected from the death and we will also rise like him. Therefore, let

us believe and impress in our minds that nothing on earth and heaven is going to

    stop our eternal future.

Let us wisely plan our lifestyles with priorities to worship the resurrected Christ, live

and work for him and even die for him if situation calls. The militants in Iraq pitiably

do not know about the glorious hope that the Christian children and adults whom

they mercilessly killed had believed in. Even in our nation, will a law on Conversion

turn around a believing heart that has been captured and filled with glories by the

living and resurrected God? What about us? As we celebrate the resurrection of

Christ, let us believe in a god given future! Happy Easter to all of you!

In this month, I am sure our children have finished their exams and are excitedly

getting ready for the Vacation Bible School. May God give them good results! Chil-

dren from Sadharamangala area are also joining our VBS this year. A special VBS is

going to be conducted in Whitefield outreach as well. Then there is VBS for Irula

The Boy who held his hand

In the book of Judges, we come across a remarkable man named Samson.

His name literally means ‘sunshine.’ He was brought up a Nazarene, set apart for God, and his charismatic anointing enabled him to accomplish

many amazing feats of strength but his life was ruined by his excesses

and his lack of self-control. One folly follows another and finally we see

that the Spirit of the Lord departed from him. He was captured by the

Philistines, blinded and made to work on a grinding stone. Stripped of

everything, Samson repents and the Lord helps him – one last time. This

poem reflects Samson through the eyes of the little boy who leads him:

The boy who held his hand

    They gouged them out,

At first I could not bear to look:

    Empty and raw and cruel.

    I would not look:

    The shock of emptiness,

Knowing that he would not see.

I watched the shaven head bowed low

Rocking with the rhythm of the grindstone. Round. Round. Round.

    I watched the needless shackles:

    Heavy and hard,

Biting the flesh that needs no binding.

Now, it does not matter that his eyes are gone:

I am his eyes, he sees through me.

He has to see through me, there is no other way.

And I have wept the tears he cannot weep, For all those careless years.

And I have learned to love this broken man, while he has learned at last to

    fear his God.

So, I am not afraid to die:

Happy to be his eyes this one last time.

Taking his hand, leading with practised care

Step by guided step into the place where he can pray, “Lord, O Sovereign Lord.”

And as the pillars fall, I cry “Amen.”

(This poem is excerpted from the book Unlocking the Bible by David Paw-

    son)

    A SIMPLE GESTURE

Everybody can be great ....You only need a heart full of grace, a

soul generated by love. - Martin Luther King Jr.

Mark was walking home from school one day when he noticed

that the boy ahead of him had tripped and dropped all the

books he was carrying, along with two sweaters, a baseball bat,

a glove and a small tape recorder. Mark knelt down and helped

the boy pick up the scattered articles. Since they were going the

same way, he helped to carry part of the burden. As they

walked, Mark discovered the boy’s name was Bill, that he loved

video games, baseball and history, that he was having a lot of

trouble with his other subjects and that he had just broken up

    with his girlfriend.

Mark went home after dropping Bill at his house. They contin-

ued to see each other around school, had lunch together once or

twice, then both graduated from high school and finally the long

-awaited final year came. Three weeks before graduation, Bill

asked Mark if they could talk.

Bill reminded him of the day years ago when they had first met.

“Did you ever wonder why I was carrying so many things home

that day?” asked Bill. “You see, I cleaned out my locker be-

cause I didn’t want to leave a mess for anyone else. I had stored

away some of my mother’s sleeping pills and I was going home

to commit suicide. But after we spent some time together talk-

ing and laughing, I realized that if I had killed myself, I would

have missed that time and so many others that might follow. So

you see, Mark, when you picked up my books that day and

walked home with me, you did a lot more. You saved my life.”

Prayer Diary Compiled by Mrs. Anne F Sangeeth Sunday:

    AUSTRALIA: Key Facts

Australia is officially called the Commonwealth of Australia. Australia is a developed country and one of the wealthiest in the world, with the world's 12th-largest economy. With the second-highest human development index globally, Australia ranks highly in many international comparisons of national performance, such as quality of life, health, education, economic freedom, and the protec-tion of civil liberties and political rights. Although Australia has no official language, English has al-ways been entrenched as the de facto national language. School attendance or registration for home schooling is compulsory throughout Australia. Education is the responsibility of the individual states and territories so the rules vary between states, but in general children are required to attend school from the age of about 5 up until about 16. Life expectancy in Australia in 2010 was 79.5 years for males and 84.0 years for females. Australia has no state religion. For much of Australian history the Church of England (now known as the Anglican Church of Australia) was the largest religious affiliation. However, multicultural immigration has contributed to a decline in its relative position, and the Roman Catholic Church has benefitted from recent immigration to become the largest group. Similarly, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and Judaism have all grown in Australia over the past half-century. Nearly three out of four Australians say they are either not religious or that religion does not play a central role in their lives according to a survey. Capital: Canberra, National Language: English, Demonym: Australian or Aussie , Government: Feder-al Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy, Monarch: Elizabeth II, Prime Minister: Tony Abbott, Gov-ernor-General: Sir Peter Cosgrove, 1. Mission: Church Growth Missionary Movement (www.cgmmindia.org) History - The Church Growth Missionary Movement is an indigenous, interdenominational mission-ary movement started by the late Rev. J. C. Bose Meiyappan at Madurai in 1975 with the primary aim of reaching the unreached people. Mission - It is the mission’s great burden to proclaim the Gospel to the people who have not yet heard about the Lord Jesus Christ and create awareness in the churches in mission aspects, enhance the people to worship the LORD and boost the believers to preaching the Gospel through sending, church planting, training all over India, especially in tribal groups and village community and pro-vide them better education, health awareness, and assist them to develop their socio - economic condition. Ministries - These include tribal ministry, tribal homes, village ministry, gospel on wheels, church planting, social development, training for ministry, seminars, challenge meetings and training pro-grams for lay leaders, spread across 14 states in India. Missionary Profile - EMIL JEBASINGH

    Compiled by Dr. Dilip

Dr. N. Emil Jebasingh was a gift to our nation whose thirst for perishing souls bombarded many young men to pour their lives for the sake of Gospel. Among the servants of God, he had

a unique place in preaching the Word of God, in His prayer life, vision, humility and leadership. His pen was mighty while his speech transformed many hearts to do soul winning. He penned 135 songs which gave new life to missions. His songs and messages are available at http://m.emiljebasingh.com/ . His songs were soul stir-ring and tremendously powerful and had the ability to bring people to their knees with tears in their eyes.

Emil Jebasingh was born to Rev. Y.C. Navamani and Mrs. Grace

Navamani on Jan 10, 1940. At the age of 17, he was lead to Jesus through Mr. P. Samuel and Mr. Jeevanantham. From the day he ac-cepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, he obeyed the Last Com-mandment of Jesus Christ sincerely. Answering God’s call for fulltime mission work, he resigned his job as a professor in Pope’s College, Sawyerpuram. During those days, he was actively involved in the VBS (Vacation Bible School) ministries. His heart always pounded for the people who had not heard the name of Jesus Christ even once. He was one of the founders of the Friends Missionary Prayer Band (FMPB). He was also the Regional Director for South Asia of

TransWorld Radio. He utilized Radio as a means to send the Gospel to many remote villages and many language groups of the Indian sub-continent. He founded the ‘BLESS India – Vision 2020’ in order to unite the entire missions in India.

He operated his ministry on the principle of Romans 15:20 “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s founda-

tion.” He and his co-workers in Christ prayed and started ‘Vishwa Vani’ on May 1, 1980 in Rabbit Island of Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu. Vishwa Vani now has over 3000 full time workers across India. Mission fields were

opened one after the other and first generation believers flourished.

In order to strengthen the first generation believers ‘India Believers Fellowship’ was started as a sister organization. The church bells chimed in many unreached villages through India Believers Fellowship.

Emil Jebasingh was married to Ananthi, a college professor with a Doctorate in Linguistics, and they had 3 children. Moved by the needs of the poverty-stricken people of Tuticorin area and in order to uplift the social status of Indian people groups, they both founded ‘The Good Samaritans’, ‘Vishwasi Sangati’, which transformed many needy families. Like all Indians, Ananthi saw poverty in the streets everyday of her life.

One fateful day, God decided to use her to change hearts of children in a slum of 25,000 people across from her apartment. That day, a small boy knocked on her door to beg for food. In addition to

feeding him, Dr. Ananthi felt called to teach and love him as well. A week later the boy returned with 25 children wanting to attend the “school.” After teaching more than 100 children from her home, she received permission to establish a school within the “toilet complex” of the Alakananda slum in 1991.

By 1998, she was teaching more than 600 children of all ages within the slum community with the help of 18 volunteer teachers. With a passion for these children, Dr. Ananthi manages a staff of over 150 in New Delhi, India, providing free education, nutrition, and medi-cal care to more than 1,000 of India’s impoverished children. The chil-

dren and families of the communities call her “Mummy-ji” which in Hindi means “honored mother”.

In 2000, Dr. Emil Jebasingh was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. In the midst of his weakness, he was strengthened in the Lord and continued to actively involve in ministry for the next 13 years. He referred to God’s Word in whatever he did. His prayer life, active lifestyle, zeal for missions, love for his brethren, kindness in

helping others, and loving everyone equally without favoritism depict-ed the Savior of his heart – JESUS. Emil Jebasingh passed away on De-cember 19, 2013, and the outpouring of affection at his funeral was a testament to his immense contribution to the nation. He lived as he preached – in daily obedience to his Master and Lord.

Farewell to SEA College students On 1st of March our church youth team organized a farewell party for

the eleven nursing students of SEA college who are graduating this year.

After the Sunday service, few of the students along with the graduating ones

had a time of worship led by the African students. To make the day more

blessed, our pastor, Rev. David Livingston, gave a special thought for the stu-

dents. The students also gave testimonies on what the Lord has done during

their academic journey and their stay in Bangalore and shared a few prayer

points to pray for and Mr. John Prashanth came forward to pray for them.

After the program, everyone enjoyed a fellowship lunch together.

40/ 40 Morning prayer During the time of Lent, our church has organized a 40/40 prayer for

both Tamil and English congregation members from 6.30 am to 7.10 am at

our church premises and all are welcome to come and join in prayer. It is or-

ganized such that each day we pray for a few of the families so that in the 40

days all the families are included, and the families allotted on the particular

day are requested to come to church to pray. The list of the families and the

dates specified are mentioned in the church front desk or you can get the

    details from Bro. Vijay Santhaseelan.

English VBS and Mrs. Sharon or our pastor, Rev. David Livingston, for the Kan-

nada VBS. Transport facilities are also arranged for the children. Parents kind-

ly ensure that you register your kids as soon as possible. Do encourage your

neighbour kids also to participate. We expect children from Sadaramanagala

as well to join the VBS this year.

    Testimony

    MY STRUGGLE WITH MY SISTER-IN-LAW

The home I married into is quite similar to the one I grew up in in the most important matters of faith, values, etc., but of course, there are small differences in the way we do things. I liked to learn their way of doing things and my in-laws were kind and loved to teach – most that is except my sister-in-law. She apparently did not take a liking to me and made it obvious – hurtful comments, suggestions and judgmental statements made me dread the thought of meeting her. Each visit to my husband’s place was a happy one but for her words – they seemed to be aimed to pierce right through me and they did just that. I was filled with bitterness and resentment towards her and though I did not show my true feelings towards her, inside I knew I was a hypocrite. As the years went by, I had a neat pile of memories stored inside me – many little incidences and words that were much better for-

    gotten.

Is it okay as a Christian to feel bitter about someone and do nothing about it? I knew it was not. Though I may not have knowingly done anything to make the situation between us bad, I realized I may have unknowingly done so. Also, I had to admit I had not taken effort to do something good. This especially was not easy because bitterness had taken root and I needed God’s help to physically uproot it from within myself. God was willing to help but was I willing to be helped? All my ‘ifs’ and ‘buts’ and ego aside, I finally asked for God’s help for humility and truthfulness on my part to deal with the situation. God showed me that my innermost feelings towards my in-laws (even my difficult sister-in-law) were what He would judge me by. I knew

that my attitude towards her was the litmus test of my Christian faith.

How could I practically go about loving a person I did not love? God asked me to begin by praying sincerely for her daily. It is very difficult to con-tinue to feel bitter towards a person you are sincerely praying for and I can-not explain the process but I knew as the months went by that my feelings towards my sister-in-law had changed dramatically. I saw clearly the instanc-es where I had been wrong, where I should have been more loving, where I had been rude, where I had unnecessarily mistaken her. As each instance came to mind, I asked for God’s forgiveness and prayed for ways to show my affection for her. My phone calls to her increased, my enquires were more

sincere and I wanted to speak words of encouragement.

The God who dealt with me was dealing with my sister-in-law too. She saw the change and gladly returned my friendliness. There was no spec-

tacular event but God’s miracle of love worked in our relationship and now
