I The mission of Stillpoint is to provide a

faiths that genuinely seek the Divine,

and those who desire to embrace the

This October, we begin

Stillpoint’s 15th Anniversary

Year: Boundless Compassion.

This celebratory name

honors our 15th Anniversary

speaker, Fr. Greg Boyle, and

his best-selling book, Tattoos

on the Heart: The Power of

Boundless Compassion. The

name also reflects how Christ

— and we — are called to

live. As Henri Nouwen wrote,

“Jesus' whole life and mission

involve accepting powerless-

ness and revealing in this

powerlessness the limitless-

ness of God's love.”

When have you felt power-

less? Have you experienced

the Divine’s boundless

compassion and caring in

times of feeling powerless?

Join us during our

anniversary year to grow into

a deeper relationship with

the Divine and a more

compassionate way of living.

Discover your Stillpoint.

Relationship with The Divine One – a relationship that leads to personal

and social transformation was Stillpoint’s founding focus. This included

Spiritual Direction and Prayer; both traditional and contemporary.

Over the past 15 years, we have grown to offer a vibrant calendar full

of complementary programs such as Enneagram and special offerings

to support this foundation with your soul journey in mind.

As we embark on our 15th Anniversary, our featured speaker, Fr. Greg

Boyle shares "Kinship is the only strength there is.” We invite you to

experience Stillpoint as a welcoming gathering place for individuals

and groups of all faiths seeking the Divine and desiring to embrace the

sacred. Our programs provide nourishing opportunities for your spiritual

development, personal and social transformation.

As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Stillpoint’s mission and operations

are funded by fees and donations. Minimal program fees or goodwill

offering suggestions are listed.

PRIVATE SPIRITUAL COMPANIONSHIP

» FOR SPIRITUAL SEEKERS

Spiritual Direction offers the

opportunity to notice, reflect

and discern God’s presence

in daily life and to draw

closer to the loving —

ongoing — relationship we

long for. The sacred ministry

and art of Spiritual Direction is

central to Stillpoint’s mission.

Our Spiritual Directors serve

as companions on your soul

journey. They are not

counselors but are individuals

of deep, varied faiths and

have the relevant training to

support you in identifying and

trusting your experience of

God, integrating spirituality

into your daily life, discerning

difficult choices, and living

the essence of faith.

» FOR SPIRITUAL DIRECTORS

Stillpoint provides Spiritual

Directors who have formal

training or formation — and

are actively engaged in

serving directees — with the

peer supervision and

continuing education that is

an ethical standard in

therapeutic practices.

nourishment you need to be

present to the soul journeys of

others, contact Stillpoint.

1n 2004, Delise Sartini, Mary

Alice Neilson, and Dr. Roisin

O’Loughlin brought forth Roisin’s

call to found a spiritual

development center in southern

Nevada. Their experience might

be described as a ”trek of faith”

Bringing the Stillpoint mission to

fruition required much

contemplation, conversation,

conceptualizing and planning. It

required discernment and

listening for the Divine’s

direction. Finding the right place

to plant the dream proved quite

challenging and for a time the

dream went dormant.

One day, Delise happened on a

space for lease that looked out

onto a garden. When the three

women walked the space

together, they knew this was the

place for the spiritual oasis

Roisin had envisioned.

For 15 years, our founders, Board

of Trustees, spiritual directors,

instructors, staff, volunteers, and

members have companioned

Stillpoint’s mission of serving as a

hospitable gathering place

nourishing to the spiritual life of

people of all faiths who

A HOSPITABLE PLACE OF RESPITE AND RENEWAL

Stillpoint Board & Staff

genuinely seek the Divine as a

path to personal development

and spiritual transformation.

The trek to Stillpoint is analogous

to the spiritual journey in that it

required deep, difficult internal

work. It required our founders to

patiently wait in liminal space —

the crucial time when the

dream seemed stagnant yet

work happening deep within

them led them here.

Stillpoint has become a place of

personal and community

growth, kinship, and of

individual and shared spiritual

experiences. It is a source of

respite, renewal and living into

the relationships we are all

called to. It is our continued

prayer that your engagement

with Stillpoint has moved you

farther on your spiritual path

and deeper into your knowing

of and relationship with the

loving Divine.

With gratitude as the journey

continues.

Lectio Divina — or divine reading — is an ancient, Scriptural

prayer form that promotes “An encounter with God”. This

transformative method of prayer includes four steps: lectio

(reading); meditatio (meditation); contemplatio

(contemplation); and oratio (prayer). At Stillpoint, we also

engage in written or art journaling to go beyond our normal

preoccupations and bring forth our prayers.

Date: 6 pm to 8:30 pm

INDIVIDUAL & IN COMMUNITY

Centering Prayer is a meditative method of cultivating the

interior silence that prepares us for contemplative prayer —

prayer in which we experience God within.

Centering Prayer is a method of prayer and a discipline to foster

a deeper relationship with the Divine. Centering Prayer does not

replace other kinds of prayer, it adds depth of meaning to all

prayer — and facilitates resting in God.

» CENTERING & CELEBRATING THOMAS KEATING

introductory practice and gathering to break bread and share

reflections on the life of Trappist monk, Fr. Thomas Keating as

we mark the first year since his passing.

In the midst of the world's

sorrows and our own

difficulties, honest complaint

to God as modeled in the

Psalms is a tool toward healing

and hope. We are invited to a

deeper relationship with the

Divine as we wrestle with

disorienting events.

Come spend some time being

present to God and to your-

self, as we explore lament

through Psalms, thoughtful

writings, and contemplative

exercises. Leave with a vision

of hope and the awareness of

God’s compassion and work

in our lives and in the world

around us.

Spiritual Director Kathy Ruud

recognizes that the Divine seeks

deep, transformative relation-

ships with each one of us.

The circumstances that lead us

to transformative encounters

can be difficult as Kathy knows.

After presenting a retreat on the

power of Lament in late 2017,

she was to present it at Stillpoint

in early 2018 when her husband

unexpectedly passed away. Her

program was postponed.

Learning to live a new normal,

Kathy saw how developing a

lament program had prepared

her to pray through sorrow —

and, how her own unfolding un-

derstanding of living with loss

informs her in how to take others

deeper in their journey to live a

whole, healing spiritual life.

providential love. When

difficult times come, we

What is Stillpoint? Stillpoint is a center for spiritual development

and personal growth. We offer spiritual direction, prayer groups,

classes, retreats, guest speakers and a place to be still.

Do I have to belong to a church, parish, synagogue, mosque or

other place of worship? No. Stillpoint is open to people of all

faiths who are genuinely seeking a relationship with The Divine.

We do not exist for conversion but to support one’s soul journey.

May children or teenagers attend a program? Most Stillpoint

programs are designed for attendees 18 or older. However, we

do offer periodic programs for younger people, and

attendance by children may be possible on a program-specific

basis. Please contact Stillpoint to inquire.

How do I enroll in a program or class? To ensure a quality

experience for our attendees, most programs require or suggest

an RSVP or preregistration. Some require pre-payment.

What is the registration, payment and refund policy?

Registration can be done online, by phone or at the center.

Refunds may be granted, but are not possible for special

events with material fees or specific participation number limits.

»FACILITY RENTALS

Stillpoint rooms, or the entire center, can be reserved for a day,

evening or weekend with advance reservations including a

facility fee. Our center includes a large program room,

WRITINGS FROM WITHIN: A

WRITINGS, READINGS &

REFLECTIONS CIRCLE

Has your journey compelled you

to write something — a book, a

poem or perhaps a reflection —

that evidences your spiritual

exploration, your journey toward

a deeper relationship with the

Divine, or the road to healing

and wholeness for you or

others?

Share one of your short writings

(or an excerpt of a longer

writing) with others and allow

them to quietly reflect on it. You

may also bring the work of

another author whose writing

has spoken to you.

This is a program of sharing and

participant reflection rather

than a workshop for critiquing or

brainstorming an author’s

writing or spiritual ideas.

Journaling with words or art is a

foundational practice at Stillpoint.

The practice of opening one’s self

up through pen and paper can

help us get out our “now” — our

preoccupations — so we can go

deeper in our contemplation,

conversations (and writings), and

communion with the Divine.

During our 15th Anniversary Year,

we will welcome best-selling

author Fr. Greg Boyle, and spend

time reading and retreating on

two of the most prophetic voices

— and prolific writers — of the

20th century: Thomas Merton and

Henri Nouwen. Decades after

passing, their words feel fresh and

ring true to spiritual seekers.
