"From the results obtained, it can be concluded that the most suitable protective
treatment for the limestone of the cathedral of Burgo de Osma is Tecnadis
PRS, due to its high contact angle, its slight modification of the original color of the
stone and its low reduction of water vapor permeability “
“ALMUDENA CATHEDRAL OF MADRID: Rehabilitation of the Crypt” 2013
Architectural and ornamental restoration of the Crypt of Nuestra Señora de
La Almudena Cathedral in Madrid:
The intervention recovered all vaulted elements, bases, columns, stone capitals
and, granite and marble floors.

Project: May 2013. Proyecto: Mayo 2013. Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport. Government of Principality of Asturias.
(Project extract) [...] Removal of black crusts accumulated over more than seventy years by
innocuous technologies, tacking into account the specific parameters of the application
previously established by petrologists: neutral solvent (white spirit) applied with hyssop after
softening the wax surface by hot air gun over marble pieces of the pre-romanesque
architecture; projection of dry air with pumice stone microparticles over the most neutral
stone surfaces, and laser beam over the most strong surfaces. Subsequently, the
disintegrated fillers behind the pedestals were reduced in order to define its Lastra dolomite
ashlars, afterwards, lost patinas were completed and final protective treatment was
applied, water repellent with ceramic oxide nanoparticles dispersed on acetone was
used. It is a treatment that allows the breathability of the stones without change the
aesthetic of the substrate, the brightness and texture and without modify its tone and colour.
These interventions preserved both the historical graffities of the pilgrims and observed
polychromies.

Restoration and protection of the cloisters of the Oviedo Cathedral with
Aquashield Ultimate superhydrophobic product.

“SEVILLE CATHEDRAL: Restoration of cover and outdoor elements Since 2015 until now
“…“ Central dome of Seville cathedral repair was involved in dismantling, recovery and
cleaning of existing mud brick pavement in order to use them in after works,
recuperation of intermediate fillers and following new pavement was performed with
the cleaned bricks of the dismantling works. Finally, hydrophobic protection and
water absorption reduction treatment from TECNAN was applied.
…[..] Mechanical cleaning and elimination of crusts and patinas created due to water
runoff on tube line areas, rain gutter, buttresses and selected areas which were highly
degraded. Subsequently, water repellent treatment.

“RESTORATION WORKS OF THE FRONTIS FACADE OF SANTANDER CATHEDRAL CRYPT” 2016
“… Façade of limestone of different qualities and ages due to the rebuilt of the
cathedral in different times. It is a façade that despite of being orientated to east is
located in the most dark area of the cathedral, being part of the crypt that is under this
emblematic building.
The treatment performed over all the elements has been:
1.- Cleaning of the facade by the application of cold pressure water on the surface for
the elimination of detritus.
2.- Removal of rusted metallic elements anchored to the stones, which are not working.
3.- Breaking by manual means of damaged, loose and with risk of detachment mortars
and plasters.
4.- Performance of mortar joints, in order to imitate the original stone masonry, applying
cement mortar, lime, additives and selected aggregates, permeable to water vapor.
5.- Application of innovative hydrophobic treatment protector based on
nanoparticles, TECNADIS PRS PERFORMANCE, treated by mechanical means
(electric turbine).

Application of nano-protection with hydrophobic and oleophobic properties, Tecnadis
PRS Performance on the facades of the Botin Centre Building and on the white concrete
prefabricates of the tunnel. Reduction of cleaning time and recourses of the prefabricated
pieces that were usually turned dark due to the automotive contamination. Before the application
of this treatment, the cleaning was made with abrasives chemical products, nowadays they are
cleaning only with pressured water.
Renzo Pianno Project:
The Centro Botín is a new space for art, culture and the diverse activities of the Fundación
Botín. It will be constructed in the Jardines de Pereda, on the seafront of the city of Santander in
north-western Spain. The project reclaims an area currently used as a car park, restoring it to the
city. The site, organized as an extension of the city grid through the existing park, will provide
direct access from the historic town centre to the sea and will enhance visual connections with
the water.
The exterior will be clad with small off-white ceramic tiles that easily adapt to the shape of the
building and that also have a shimmering, mother-of-pearl finish, which strengthens the
building's luminosity, under Santander’s often grey sky.
Successful applications – Modern ArchitectureART, ARCHITECTURE AND TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM (LISBOA-PORTUGAL) 2016
The building for the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology was designed by
British architecture studio Amanda Levete Architects (AL_A).
Boasting over seven thousand square metres of new public space, AL_A’s
building makes use of the area’s natural features, incorporating an architectural
narrative that is in keeping with both the cultural heritage and future of the city.
The vast south facade is the building’s most iconic feature and it works as a large
reflector interacting with the light coming from the river. The angle and position of
the tiles were planned in order to create specific luminous effects according to the
time of the day and year.
Application of hydrophobic and oleophobic solution on more than 18.000
ceramic tiles of this emblematic building. This treatment was carried out in the
ceramic plant of Ceramica Cumella Factory before the installation of the tiles on
the own building. The tiles are treated with a microcrack enamel that were darken
due to pollution and dirt. Thanks to the application of this nanotechnological
treatment the white colour of this building remains its aesthetic for long time.

HYDROPHILIC PROPERTY ANTI-DUST PROPERTY
This treatment for glass surfaces is an innovative superhydrophilic and anti-dust solution based on nanotechnology that provides self-cleaning
properties. The superhydrophilic property allows water to contact the surface creating a thin layer which dries homogeneously, avoiding the
appearance of water marks, and reducing dust adhesion.

This treatment for metallic surfaces has the properties to protect the treated surfaces against
corrosion. In this case, half of cast iron lamppost was treated and all the piece was submitted
to accelerated humidity test on a humidifier camera for 1h and 35 minutes.
As you can see in the picture after this test the not treated area is totally rusted, whereas, the
treated area with Tecnadis Metalcoat keeps its aesthetic and properties.
