Introduction

What does success mean to you?

Is it a million dollars in the bank? The perfect body? Is success thesatisfaction of knowing that you did your best today?

However you define success, the starting point for achieving it is in thedefinition itself. As Mike Brescia says, you cant reach success if you cantdefine it. You have to begin with the end in mind according to StephenCovey. In simple terms, you have to know where youre going and, moreimportantly, why youre going there in order to know when youve arrived.

This collection of successful thoughts will help you to define success on your

own terms. In reflecting on the words of other successful people you will gaininsight into yourself, and the what, why, and how of your journey to successwill become more clear.

For myself, in putting this compilation together for you, I experienced many ofthose ah ha! moments. You know, the ones where suddenly the light comeson and you think to yourself, Ah ha! Its all clear to me now!

How to Get the Most Out of This Book

This is an interactive ebook. You will get the most value out of it if you takesome action based on what you read.

The quotations are ordered in a sort of natural progression starting withdefinitions of success, and moving through the stages of using yourimagination, believing in yourself, setting goals... you get the idea.

You can read them in order or flip to a random quote. Either way,heres a couple of ideas on what to do with them beyond just reading:

1. Reflect or Meditate on a Quote

As you read each quote, take a moment or two to reflect on what meaning orinsights it brings to your life. Ask yourself questions like:

How does this fit into my definition ofsuccess? Can I use this on my path?Is there an action I can take to apply this in my life?

There are no right or wrong answers. Whatever the words mean toyou, is the right answer for you. And everyone will come up with

something different.

You can also use a quote as the starting point for a meditation. Sit quietly andrelax and just let the words tumble over in your mind and see what feelingsand images they bring to the surface.

2. Journal on a Quote

Pick a quote at random, and just start writing. See where the words lead youand what comes out of them. Its a really good way to get the creative juicesflowing, especially if you havent written in awhile, or are struggling with

writers block.

Use the same questions you asked yourself when reflecting on the quote, orjust write in free flow. Either way, youll be surprised and what ends up on thepage when youre done.
