Teaching strategies are methods by which presenters provide content to participants. Teaching strategies for conference sessions should reflect adult learning principles. Strategies that reflect these principles include lecture/group discussion, small-group sessions, skill practice sessions, question-and-answer sessions, audiovisual aids, role-playing, games, clinical application, simulations, evaluations, and handouts. strategies you plan to utilize to make sure that each is congruent with the objectives and content covered.

Resources and Materials/Delivery Method

Participants will receive their session resources and materials in the Conference Program in which session’s content will be described and presenters identified. Although PowerPoint presentation will be used, copies will not be provided as handouts; PowerPoint presentations will, however be made available on the conference website. Each session will also use lecture/discussion, question-and-answer opportunities, and activity evaluation as part of the learning experience.

Examples of Learner Objectives:

At the conclusion of this workshop, the participant will be able to do the following:

Define the role of a federally mandated quality improvement organization in the implementation of Patient- Centered Medical Home Model Initiative.

Show awareness of the impact of combat related psychological trauma in veterans and the interplay between that trauma and problematic substance abuse.

Identify nutrients that can affect neurotransmitters including serotonin, dopamine, and brain opioids.

AATOD recognizes the importance of research and its impact on the future of the addiction field. To this end, should your submission be selected, we ask that you be prepared to participate in the MANDATORY poster sessions during the conference.

AATOD recognizes the importance of research and its impact on the future of the addiction field. To this end, should your submission be selected, we ask that you be prepared to participate in the MANDATORY poster Poster sessions Sessions during the conference.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING A POSTER PRESENTATIONUpon acceptance, use these guidelines for preparing your poster for presentation on-site at the conference. Your poster presentation should contain succinct headings that organize and logically display the information. Graphics should be explicit and brief. Elaboration is best done verbally, just as it were an oral presentation using slides.

The poster display should focus on:

The working area for displaying each poster presentation is four (4) feet high and eight (8) feet wide less a two (2) inch frame on all four sides. The surface is fiberboard contained within the frame and firmly supported on "A frame" legs.

Including the supporting legs, the display stands a total of six and a half (6 1/2) to seven (7) feet high.

All illustrations should be made up beforehand. Keep illustrative material simple. Illustrations must be read from distances of approximately three (3) feet or more. Charts, drawings, and illustrations should be similar to those that would be used in making slides.

Prepare and bring to the meeting all illustrations needed for your presentation - figures, tables, diagrams, equations, etc.

The Workshop Committee will notify you if your poster presentation has been accepted. Please be prepared to bring poster materials to incorporate the following format.

fee will be waived the day of my presentation. All poster sessions and workshop presenters must register for the conference by submitting the appropriate forms. All presenters will receive a speaker packet with complete registration materials upon acceptance of their presentation.

2. My co-presenter(s) and I are responsible for our own travel, lodging, and full costs related to the presentation, excluding audiovisual equipment.

3. As the primary author, I accept responsibility for coordinating my poster session or workshop with my co-presenter(s).

4. I will respond in a timely fashion to requests for additional information.

5. HANDOUTS AND REFERENCE LISTI will submit a handout for each workshop, NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2013. Each handout will be submitted to Talley Management Group either in camera ready format on disk or electronically to [email protected]. The handouts will be available via the AATOD website (www.aatod.org) for each specific session beginning onon Monday, November 4, 2013. Each attendee will receive information on how to gain access to the handouts.

6. I will be prepared to present my topic via workshop and/or poster during the published times in person at the conference.
