The latest Neato XV-25 automatic vacuum cleaner has been developed with the improved ability to pick up pet hair and dirt and reduce allergens on all floor types for cleaner, healthier homes.

Having tested their Neato XV-15 earlier this year I was keen to see how the improvements compared. We set the Neato XV-25 to start cleaning at 6pm every evening and put him to work in the bedroom. Yes we do call it a him! He has become part of the family and our little girl can be heard saying, “Neato’s cleaning the carpet again”.

We have two cats who have free reign of the house and the bedroom tends to get very dusty not only from the cats but also from the adjoining ensuite. Being a busy family we only get time to vacuum at weekends (if were lucky!) so the idea of a little robotic cleaner whirling around the bedroom each night is certainly worth the £429 price tag.

It may have a small dust compartment but it picks up hair and dust daily and is then easy to empty every couple of days.

We can all feel it turning very cold at the moment so it’s likely we’re all turning up the heating. But, before you do, perhaps listen to this valuable advice from Oliver Heath, and it maybe just a change of decor that can warm up your house.

According to a survey carried out by E.ON which revealed that three quarters of UK adults (75%) think that colour and furnishings can have an impact on the perceived temperature of a room1.

So E.ON has teamed up with interiors expert Oliver Heath to

show how maximising colour and light in your home can have a significant impact on its perceived warmth. Reds and browns (76%), and yellows and ambers (53%) ranked as the colours that made people feel the warmest. But Oliver points out that homeowners can do a lot more than reaching for a tin of earthy-coloured paint to help make a room feel warmer:

A bathroom doesn’t have to be blue. Many homes have ‘water coloured’ bathrooms, but in reality blues, turqoises and greens will not reflect well on skin tones and can you make you look pale. Choosing warmer tones, tans and stone colours for example, will not only make you feel warmer but look more radiant too.

In a country known for its diamonds, Great Plains Conservation opened another gem in August

– Selinda Explorers Camp – located in the Selinda Reserve in northern Botswana.

Private showers under the starts are attached to each tent.

The Selinda Explorers Camp has just four tents and is a new concept camp for Botswana; located on the banks of the Selinda Spillway to accommodate a maximum of eight people. A separate guide’s tent is available.

steP 3To create the sleeves/wings, repeat the scoring and folding process with a sheet of plain white paper. Find the centre of the pleated paper by folding it in half across the

pleats. Take a long length of transparent thread and knot one end securely around the pleats at the centre point. Trim off the short end close to the knot. The remaining long end will form a hanging loop for the finished angel.

steP 2Crease along the scored line first one way, then another to pleat the sheet of paper accordion fashion. For crisp creases, use the bone folder on its side to burnish along the pleated up

section. Repeat until the entire sheet is pleated, then place to one side.

steP 1To make one large angelIn order to create the body/dress section of the angel, lay a sheet of music print paper down on the cutting mat in landscape format. Use a steel ruler

and the bone folder in conjunction with the grid printed on the cutting mat to score vertical lines all the way across the paper, spacing them 2cm apart.

steP 4Set the pointed soldering tip into your Dremel® Versatip™ and ignite the tool, adjusting it to a hot setting. Lay the folded paper down on the scrap of thick corrugated cardboard. Holding

the tool upright, position the hot tip on the folded paper and push gently so that the tip burns through all the layers; you will feel it give slightly as it pierces through the lowest layer and into the thick cardboard. Repeat the process using the tool to pierce the paper and create a lacy pattern. Fan out the ends of the paper to represent the sleeves/wings.

steP 6To affix the ball to represent the head, thread the darning needle with the loose end of the transparent thread and push the needle right

through the centre of a 50mm polystyrene ball. Apply a dab of glue to the top of the sleeve/wing section and working fairly quickly, lower the ball down the thread onto the glue so that the ball sits centrally on top of the sleeves/wings and is glued firmly in place. Knot the loose end of the thread, forming a loop for suspending the angel.

steP 5To assemble the body/dress and sleeve/wing sections, fit the Dremel® Glue Gun 930 with a 7mm clear glue stick and set it to the cool setting. Pinch the pleats together at one

end of the body/dress section. Apply a dab of hot glue to the ends of the pleats and working on the Dremel Glue Mat, offer the body/dress section to the sleeve/wing section so that it fits snugly against the transparent thread knotted around the sleeve/wing section and within the folded sleeves/wings. Fan out the lower end of the dress.

To make a small angel cut a sheet of A4 paper in half to make two pieces that measure 210mm x 148mm. With the pieces laid down in landscape format as for the large angels, score vertical

lines right across each piece, spacing the lines 1cm apart. Pleat the sections accordion-style as before and use one of the pieces for the body/dress section and the other for the sleeve/

wing section, preparing them as described for the large angel. To keep the finished piece in scale, use a 30mm polystyrene ball for the head and a 23mm curtain ring for the halo.

steP 7To add a halo, apply a dab of glue on top of the head towards the back and press a large curtain ring to it, angling the ring as seen. Pass the hanging loop through the halo.

steP 8Finally, use tweezers to lift and apply two adhesive gems to the front of the head to represent eyes.

steP 4Allow the Dremel Glue Gun 930 time to cool down then fit it with a silver glitter glue stick. With your Glue Gun set to the cool temperature, apply silver glitter glue to further enhance and embellish the engraved and glittered motifs using the finished picture as a guide. Hang up the finished bauble.

steP 3Working quickly so that the glue remains sticky, lay your Dremel Glue Gun 930 safely on the Dremel Glue Mat and, holding the bauble over the glass bowl with the white glitter, use the spoon to sprinkle glitter onto the tacky glue. Ensure the entire motif is covered in glitter before very gently tapping the excess off back onto the plate.Repeat the process, using the Dremel Glue Gun 930 to apply

more snowflake designs in-between the engraved ones to build up the effect. Use the white and the crystal glitter on separate motifs to create a subtle effect.

steP 2Fit a 7 mm clear glue stick into the dual temperature Glue Gun 930 and place it in position on your Dremel Glue Mat. Switch the gun to the cool heat setting before leaving the gun to warm up. Then use your Dremel Glue Gun 930 to draw a delicate snowflake motif in-between the engraved snowflakes.

steP 1Fold your soft cloth or towel to create a cushioned surface and place the clear glass bauble down on top of it. Take your Dremel® 3000 with the Flexshaft attached and insert the Diamond Wheel Engraving Point 7105 and engrave a series of larger and smaller snowflake motifs randomly around the bauble, leaving gaps in-between the designs. You need to

be very delicate indeed and under no circumstances should you press on the surface or you will shatter the fragile glass bauble. Be sure to wear your Dremel eye safety goggles.

If you wish to create a number of these baubles to decorate a tree or table centrepiece, set up a mini production line and engrave all the baubles before moving

on to decorating them with snowflakes of glue and finally finishing them with glitter glue. This way you will avoid having to wait while the Dremel Glue

Gun 930 warms up and cools down, or having to swap between glue sticks for the different steps.
