The project is a care-raising campaign designed to collect clean, gently used warm clothing for families in need. SaskEnergy is looking to collect 20,000 pieces of warm clothing – or “warm fuzzies” – before winter arrives. Accepted items include: gently used and clean jackets, mitts, gloves, toques, scarves, sweaters, boots, vests and ski pants. General warm clothing collection will take place from Thursday, November 6 th to Saturday, November 8 th , 2014 at three leisure centres around the city: The Sandra Schmirler, Sportplex (Fieldhouse & Lawson) and North West Leisure Centre. A number of Public and Catholic Schools are also participating from Monday, November 3 rd to Thursday, November 6 th , 2014. SaskEnergy first rolled out the Share the Warmth Campaign 20 years ago (1994), running it as a one day project in Regina to collect warm clothing to help those in need. “The SaskEnergy Share the Warmth Program has such strong roots in our community that it was easy to rally support to bring back the popular program,” said Leslie Gosselin, Manager of Advertising and Community Relations, SaskEnergy. “We are overwhelmed with support from our community partners. They are the key to making this project happen and ensuring Regina families in need of warm clothing are prepared for the upcoming winter.” SaskEnergy will be working closely with the United Way Regina, who will identify the organizations that will distribute the warm clothing to Regina families. "Over the years, the Share the Warmth Program has spread a great deal of warmth throughout the province,” said Kristin Wawro, Relationship Manager, United Way Regina. “We are excited to work alongside SaskEnergy on this community-building initiative that will help the social and economic conditions of Regina citizens.” To learn more about clothing drop-off locations and our many local community partners, please visit the Share the Warmth Facebook page at www.facebook.com/sharethewarmthprogram. - 30 – For more information, please contact:
