Show up for early registration.
There where “unofficial” presentations the day before the conference started. These where some of the best presentations I saw during the whole con.

Code sprints are fun
Sprints are the best opportunity to get an aspect of Drupal explained to you, exhaustively if need be, until you've got it and are productive.
During the Q/A code sprint Matt, a local Drupal developer, went from not knowing unit testing in Drupal to having a patch accepted into core in 45 minutes
Also, all the cool kids hang out at the sprint.

What I got out of it:

What everyone else got out of it:
MSSQL will be supported by Drupal Core. What this means is:
It just got a lot easier to pitch Drupal to a Windows shop.
We're in the big leagues now.

Show and tell #2
Chaos Tools: It's not just that module you have to install to
use Panels It does just about anything you ever wanted to
do with AJAX, without writing javascript It makes modal/multipart forms or any other
complex UI way simpler It also does a bunch of other stuff nobody
really understands yet.
