The Romanian educational system comprises:
• pre-primary education: 3- 6 y.o age
• compulsory school = primary + lower secondary education– Primary secondary education provides general education: the 6 to 11 y.o.
age group– Lower secondary education covers the last four years of compulsory
education: the 11 to 15 y.o.age group
• post-compulsory general– High School Education: general/ vocational/ technological; covers the 15
to 19(20) y.o. age group

The Romanian Government has established five priorities concerning VET system:
• build a comprehensive legal and institutional framework for vocational education and training;
• decentralize the management of the system;
• increase financial resources through a participatory financing system;
• develop an information system and mechanisms for optimizing the demand and supply for vocational training at national, regional and local level;
• base the training system on vocational standards as benchmarks for quality.

Secondary Vocational TrainingGeneral rules + Levels
• 25-40% theory + 60-75 % practice
• Organized in groups of maximum 28 persons
• Only with authorized trainers (with pedagogy skills)
• Finalized with a National recognized Certificate
• Level 1: 360 hours
• Level 2: 720 hours
• Level 3: 1080 hours
