WHAT TO WRITE

Spend 80% of your time listening Notes should be the highlights of

what the teacher says Listen for cues such as “you need

to remember this” or “ you’ll need to know this later”

 

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES

  Sit close to the front of the class Watch your teacher part of the time

and your notebook the rest of the time If you have trouble ask your teacher if

you can use a pocket tape recorder, have permission

Make sure you can read what you write

Include the date at the top of your notes

Don’t write in complete sentences 

ABBREVIATE YOUR NOTES

Common abbreviations -about + @ -at = @ -because = b/c -greater than = > -introduction = intro -and = + -less than = < -percent = % -times = X -with = w/ -without = w/o
