What is Study Abroad? • An academic program offered by XU
• All programs offered through XU are credit-bearing study abroad programs
• Take courses abroad and transfer credits back to your degree plan

Requirements• Good academic
standing – 2.0 GPA and above
• One semester completed at Xavier
• No second language is required on many programs!
• Conduct – not on University probation
Who Can Go Abroad?
• All Xavier students in good standing are eligible to study abroad.
• All majors can study abroad!
• International students are eligible to study abroad.
Xavier Sponsored Programs• These programs are
coordinated by another US institution or organization that provide extensive service and support during your study abroad experience. Many programs are offered through other Jesuit schools providing a great academic fit.

Direct Exchange Programs • These programs allow
students to study at a foreign university with which Xavier has a special agreement. Often times students from these universities will study at Xavier for a semester, while you study there!

Semester in Peru• This semester long experience will
broaden student’s perspective of language, culture, and societal structures through language immersion, integrated classes, homestays, visits to social NGOs, and cultural excursions. UARM, a fellow Jesuit university, is known as one of the most multi-culturally integrated universities in Peru. Its location in the country’s capital, Lima, provides students the opportunity to experience, reflect, and engage in cultural, economic, and social diversity.
Faculty-led Programs
• Faculty-led programs offer the opportunity to study abroad with a Xavier faculty member. Students typically earn 3 to 9 credit hours, and the programs run during summer, spring, and winter breaks. Program duration is anywhere between 10-days and six-weeks long. Programs are offered in a variety of disciplines.

Earning Credit • You will receive credit for study abroad at
Xavier • Major, minor, core, elective, or even “extra”
free electives
• Your academic advisor will work with you to determine how classes taken abroad count for your degree plan
• You must be full-time, which means you earn a full semester of credits for Fall or Spring programs
• Summer programs do not require full-time enrollment
Funding• All of Xavier University’s
semester programs are offered to students at the same rate as what they would pay for a semester at Xavier. This means that students are billed tuition and fees like any other semester at Xavier, and Xavier scholarships, Federal aid, and outside scholarships apply to semester-long abroad experience.
