STUDIO IDENTS

A studio indent is the logo for a particular company, these are split into two categories which

are “majors” and “indents”. Studio indents can offer fascinating insights into the studio

themselves and are often laden with interesting trivia. Some idents have evolved over 100

years into all-singing, all-dancing variants you see before movies today.

“MAJORS”

Major studio idents are the world famous logos you will normally see before a movie starts e.g. Warner Bros

They are subsidiaries of a dominant company

“INDIES”

Indie studio idents are not as known as majors and are more likely to appear in less famous movies e.g. Wonderland.
