STUDIO GUEST- JOSH THOMAS (AND JOHN THE DOG) Amanda’s former Talking about Your Generation foe, comedian Josh Thomas joins the team on the couch and in the kitchen this week. With him is his trusty companion - Cavoodle, John. Josh seizes the moment to get some pet advice Dr Chris. Does John really know when he’s having a bad hair day? Plus, Josh chats about his Grandma Mona, his new comedy show ‘Douchebag’, and his new found love of Gazpacho Soup. BIOGRAPHY Josh is a comedian (hopefully.) He is surprisingly popular; if you take into account his face and personality. He has more then 115 000 twitter followers and 200 000 Facebook fans. His podcast Josh Thomas and Friend is the most popular independent Podcast in Australia (when be bothers to make it). In 2007, Josh picked up the gong for the Melbourne Airport Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for his first ever solo stand- up show, Please Like Me. He was also the curator of the Brisbane Comedy Festival for its first two years. In 2012, has written and starred in his first sitcom which will air in future on the ABC. In 2010, he was nominated for a TV Week Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent and won the GQ Comedian of the Year Award. He really enjoys cooking.

He has now sold out rather large solo seasons at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Comedy Festival and Sydney Opera House as well as performing at the invitation only festivals Smithwicks Cat Laughs Comedy Festival in Kilkenny, Ireland and the Geel Comedy Festival in Belgium. He was also the curator of the Brisbane Comedy Festival for its first two years.

Josh has appeared several times on The Project, was a regular favourite on Network Ten’s Good News Week, has performed stand up on Rove, made a clumsy but OK appearance on ABC's QandA, hosted the prestigious televised 2011 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Gala in was the Generation Y Team Captain on Network Ten’s Talkin’ ‘bout Your Generation. In 2012, has written and starred in his first sitcom which will air in future on the ABC.

In 2010, he was nominated for a TV Week Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent and won the GQ Comedian of the Year Award.

He really enjoys cooking. He was on Celebrity Masterchef but his Italian Meringue didn't work. Last year he was on Foxtel’s Celebrity Come Dine With Me.

An audio recording of Josh’s 2009 stand-up show, Things I’ve Said Before was in the Top 10 on Australian iTunes the week of its release and his 2010 stand-up show Surprise which was nominated for a Barry Award for Most Outstanding Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and since released on DVD, is nominated for Best Comedy Release in the 2011 ARIA Awards.

Josh has spent 2012 writing, producing and starring in his own much anticipated sitcom for the ABC Please Like Me which will air in 2013.

He has a dumb accent, he knows he has a dumb accent. There is probably no need to bring it up.

JOSH THOMAS - DOUCHEBAG Josh Thomas is fairly confident he is an OK guy…but sometimes he makes choices that he is pretty sure only bad people make. He's worried when he sees evil people they also used to think they were OK guys. They must have started out doing little evil things before they moved on to making pipe bombs or secret dungeons. This year he’s going to tell jokes about wanting to be a better person, mostly. He'll probably rant about his Cavoodle John for a bit as well. In 2012 Josh took a break from stand-up because he was busy creating his new six-part scripted series for the ABC, Please Like Me, written by and starring Josh, and directed by Matt Saville. Please Like Me will premiere in 2013. He was also a 'celebrity' on Australia’s Celebrity Come Dine With Me, letting Australia into his home and showing off his pistachio KitchenAid mixer. He lost because Kris Smith only gave him 6 out of 10, which has made Josh reconsider their future together. Also, he bought three one-day-old chickens and (at the time of writing) has kept them alive. 2013 is shaping up to be a big year - kicking off with him trying not to be a douchebag in the world premiere of Douchebag at the Adelaide Fringe. “Compellingly honest, relentlessly entertaining” - The Age “Brave, funny and thoroughly entertaining” - Sunday Telegraph ADELAIDE FRINGE FESTIVAL Venue: Arts Theatre, 53 Angas Street, Adelaide Dates: Tue 26 Feb – Sun 3 Mar Time: 8:30pm Ticket Prices: Preview (Tue 26, Wed 27 Feb) $28, Fringe Benefits $28, Conc $30, Full $35, Fri 1 & Sat 2 Mar, All Tix $40 Bookings: www.adelaidefringe.com.au or 1300 621 255 BRISBANE COMEDY FESTIVAL Venue: Brisbane Powerhouse – Powerhouse Theatre
