The Production Furniture for the Contract Market Research class spent two days touring the facility and learning about the company. Students also presented on their market research findings to OFS representatives along with a presentation given by professor Hubbell on the IAPD design process.

Students visit OFS Brands headquarters

IAPD [Deadlines]

INSURANCE CARDSThe IAPD office will need a copy on file of your insurance card. You may bring your card into the IAPD officeand we will make a copy for you or you can email a copy of your card to Carissa Scott, [email protected]. We require an updated copy of your insurance each year. Please get this done ASAP!

APDesign [Updates/Events]

APDESIGN FABRICATION LABS UPDATE Thank you all for your patience waiting for the new Fab Labs to be fully operational. There is still some fine

tuning to do, but we are getting very close! The Large CNC router, and Plasma CNC are yet to beoperational. Univerisity plumbers are making final connections today and tomorrow. If you have questionsabout CNC operation, email Richard Thompson ([email protected]).

Fabrication Labs Orientation and Training for individual students will start later this week. Keep an eye out foran email with a link to the online signup and updated policies. This will cover a general overview ofthe spaces and equipment, as well as a hands-on training for basic woodworking machines.

The Spray Finish Lab is operational. This is where all spraying of paint, finishes, glue, and fixative mustoccur. Training is required for use of this space and will also be covered in the Fabrication labs Orientationand Training. If you have immediate needs for the spray booth, prior to training being scheduled, contact oneof the shop technicians.

If you have an entire class that needs training for either of the spaces, please email Richard Thompson([email protected]) to schedule a time.

If you need help with any fabrication project (designing or building) do not be afraid to come find a shoptechnician anytime from 8am-5:30pm M-F.

The 5th Annual IIDA Student Design Wars will challenge teams of students to imagine a creative design foran existing interior space in Kansas City. Each team will have 3 hours to complete hand-drawings andsketches, provide concept images, put together a presentation and then pitch their solutions to a panel oflocal design professionals. The winning team selected by the panel will split a $1,000 cash prize!

This event is open to all IAPD students. Students do NOT have to be IIDA student members to participate,and will sign up individually and assigned a team prior to the event.

IDEC FOUNDATION GRADUATE SCHOLAR AWARD Submit by November 18

This grant, distributed through the IDEC Foundation, provides travel funding to interior design graduatestudents, who desire to become interior design educators in the future, to participate in the IDEC AnnualConference.

Each grant is awarded in the amount of $1,000; the number awarded will be determined prior to announcingthe winners, pending availability of funding.
