• Globally, 23 percent of mammals, 12 percent of birds and 32 percent of amphibians, alongside nearly 8,400 plant species, are on the World Conservation Union's 2006 Red List of species threatened with extinction. – www.Think.mtv.com
• NO Bottle recycling program
• NO awareness among students
CCNY Recycling Issues
Achieving our Goals
• Establish a recycling system for bottles
• CCNY’s Health and Safety Department will provide the recycling bins for the bottles
• Recycling bins will be placed in targeted areas where student life is most active
Gaining Awareness
• The targeting of high school, undergraduate and graduate students through distinct advertisements
• Then, we will form a club to gain awareness in CCNY
Timeline
• June 2007, Students Against Waste Club is established
• The S.A.W. project will actively work with the new paper recycling policies established by the Metropolitan Recycling Company
• S.A.W. will promote discipline, and motivation for students to become more active in the cause
• Setting up of recycling system for bottles
• July 2007, Club advertising for club (flyers, pamphlets, t-shirts, and so forth)
• Recycling bins will be provided by the Health and Safety Department and plans about the placing of new recycle bins will be discussed
• August 2007, new recycling bins will be dispersed
throughout the North Academic Center
• September 2007, CCNY Recycling System will be set in place and will be advertised all throughout the North Academic Center
• Club expansion will continue to improve by the conduction of surveys and organized events to promote student awareness in hopes of recruiting students for our club
