Outreach MPC is actively engaged in early outreach activities, high school outreach, community outreach and campus in-reach activities. Examples are as follows:

• Early Outreach- Mentoring program with MPC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Program that brings youth from the Boys & Girls Club and Police Athletic League on campus for an engaging program

• High School Outreach-Counselors’ Breakfast (2/27); High School Assessment (4/11 & 4/18), application workshops at all in district high school as well as out of district high schools, pilot project with SHS- 11th grade math assessment

• Community Outreach- Six Cash for College and Dream Act application workshops

• CSUMB Collaboration- hosted CSUMB’s Admissions and Records Office for an annual retreat

• In-reach- EOPS/TRiO/CalWORKs/Veterans collaborated with the English and Study Skills Center (ESSC) to conduct a scholarship writing workshop during the Fall 2014

Student Center Grand Re-opening

• New Veterans Center

• The goal is to provide a one-stop center (single point of entry) for Veterans to receive services such as orientation, complete intake process, counseling/advising, community services, follow-up services and general information.

• TRiO Learning Center

• Permanent location for TRiO programs to deliver pre-college and college support services to low-income, first-generation college students.

Student Health Services

• MPC was awarded the Cal-MHSA mental health grant in Fall 2014. These funds are being used as follows: • Implemented Kognito, a research proven online avatar training

system designed to educate faculty, staff, and students about best practices in supporting students who struggle with the following:

• psychological distress including depression and suicidal ideation, • LGBTQ students struggling with harassment or exclusion, and • veterans who are facing challenges in adjusting to college life.

Admission & Records Update

• Laserfiche Project: Implementation Phase • 3SP funded project to take all microfiche/microfilm records from

1947-1995 and make them available in an electronic database

• Open CCCApply: Testing Phase

• Electronic application system; moving from CCCApply powered by the XAP Corporation to Open CCCApply powered by the Chancellor’s Office

• eTranscripts California: Planning Phase

• Additional electronic transcript program, allowing for electronic data transfer as part of our collaboration with CSUMB

• A&R Forms Now Online: Completed!

• Student forms have all been revamped and are available online; instructor forms are available on MyMPC

• PDF fillable versions will be available soon

Student Services Update

• Child Development Center

• The CDC is preparing for their transition to a lab school this coming fall. The maximum reimbursement contract increased from $170,565 to $224,706, (a gain of $54,141). This allows the CDC to take eight more subsidized children. (8 full time students can attend MPC with free child care!).

• First 5 Monterey County (F5MC)

• MPC is scheduled to receive a two-year extension for the F5MC contract. This contract provides additional counseling services directed toward Early Childhood Education majors. The number of ECE majors and graduates increased 3X’s over the life of the existing three-year grant.
