    Student Projects Showcase at BGM 2014

    Idea:

    To identify and showcase student projects at BGM 2014. BITSAA supported innovative and successful

    projects in the past like - Acyut, IFOR, Inspired Kraters among others. There might be many more student projects which require support & encouragement and BGM is the apt platform to showcase them.

    How to Apply:

    Students must send abstracts of their projects including details like what the stage of the project is and theapproximate funding which will be required and why. Also, the objective/ aim and the timeline of the projectmust be mentioned. Please mention details of the team members as well (Name, BITS ID, Phone Number and email ID ).

    Points to be noted when applying:

    1. The project should be done in a team, which must be under the guidance of one or more facultymembers(either same or cross campus).

    2. Project Deadline initially is 2 semesters after which the team can apply for an extension of one moresemester. It will be granted however, only after reviewing the progress of the project so far).

    3. Student must have spent atleast one year in BITS.

    4. Objective/ Aim of the project must be clearly defined..

    5. Clearly defined timeline of each stage of the project.

    Last Date to Apply - 25th November, 2013Project Shortlisting - 3rd December, 2013Shortlisted Students to finalize Posters/Confirmation for BGM - 7th December, 2013Present at BGM - 3rd to 5th January, 2014

    FAQs:

    1. Exact number of projects which will be shortlisted for showcase during BGM'14. A maximum of 4 or 5

    2. Student current course degree(Single/dual and/or higher,Ph.D.) Only Undergraduate students (both single & dual) can apply.

    3. Is this applicable for b-plans also? Not applicable for b-plans.

    4. How will the money be routed to the students? ( Is it through the campus, or will it be directly given to thestudents?). The money will be routed through the respective campuses after the funds have been granted.

    5. After the funding has been given and the project completed, whose property will it be? (Credit goes tostudents or institute or whom). Credit will be given to the students & the institute.

    6. Will the fund release be single step or multiple? Funds will be released as mentioned earlier through the respective campuses in multiple stages. This willhowever depend on the progress of project (such as if the actual project is in-line with the objectivementioned earlier at the time of application for funds, if the deadlines are being met according to the timelineetc.)

    7. Who will review the project from time to time? Every project should have faculty coordinator to track the progress and guide the students when needed.

    9. Infrastructure provision needed for the project? Institute infrastructure can be used and/or available funding can be used to buy infrastructure pieces. Inthis case, all the bills must be submitted to the faculty coordinator of the project for auditing purposes.

    10. Categories of projects which must be considered (Technology advancement, eco-friendly, smart system,innovati ve) Open to all categories - both theoretical (Eg: Biosci) & Applied (eg: Mech).

    11. Institute's role after funding. Technical support with the help of faculty members ( faculty members can be from any of thecampuses).

    12. Auditing the project expenditure. Faculty coordinator will be auditing the project every three months.
