I understand that my portfolio is a collection of

my school work and related achievements. The contents exhibit my effort

and progress as these elements relate to the goals represented in my

instructional program.

I agree to accept the responsibility for creating and managing my portfolio

as I complete each year’s requirements. I will submit its content for periodic

review to my instructors and counselors. In doing so, I understand that the

contents of my portfolio, as well as the way in which I have presented the

contents, will be evaluated for the purpose of judging my performance in

school and my yearly promotion, graduation, employment and/or post-

secondary education.

Introduction to PortfoliosEvery student must complete portfolio requirements each year in order to be promoted to the next grade or to graduate. This information is also included the Student Handbook/Agenda. Detailed portfolio requirements are listed on pages 8-12 in this handbook as well as on the school website.

At Blackstone Valley Vocational Technical High School, students will be using three (3) ring binders to present paper portfolios.

Some classes may develop electronic portfolios using HTML that can be distributed by using CD-ROM.

Career planning and career goals will be stressed as components of the portfolios in the freshman and sophomore years. Required components by grade are provided. Students will be required to have entries in their portfolio for every vocational and every academic course they take with the exception of selectives.

Rubrics and guides for portfolio contents are included in this handbook and should be used to ensure a high quality portfolio.

http://www.valleytech.k12.ma.us/portfolio-resources.htm

The student portfolio will be evaluated using the scoring guides and rubrics contained in this handbook. The portfolio will be considered as part of each student’s annual performance and as a component of his/her graduation status. In addition, the student portfolio may be used for employment and/or the post-secondary education application process.

o Portfolios will be stored in the vocational shop and should not be removed without permission from the vocational instructor.

o Completed entries should be added to the student portfolio during related curriculum instruction in the shop week.

o The Student Portfolio Checklist should be maintained in the master notebook.
