What is thestudent ambassador program?
A group of current veterinary students dedicated to the positive advancement of the college.
Ambassadors promote and participate in student and alumni events, recruiting activities, and assist faculty and staff with college events.
Student Ambassadors are the face of the college.
Required Qualifications& skills
Must maintain A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or Better
must be or become an OVMA member ($25 to join)
Skills
enthusiastic & must love to give tours of the VMC
strong interpersonal skills
a sense of school loyalty and pride
professional appearance & attitude
EXPECTATIONS
Complete a minimum of 20 hours each semester with the following guidelines:
Mandatory participation at Orientation during fall semester and Interview Weekend(s) during spring semester
Further details/expectations disseminated closer to each event
At least 3 tours per semester (3 hrs) & 1 MUST be a lunch tour & 1 MUST be an after hours/weekend tour
Participation in at least 1 community service event per year
Attendance at 1 alumni/outreach event per semester
Assistance with reading prospective Student Ambassador applications OR with conducting interviews
Attendance at 1 meeting a semester (not towards hours)
Regular, timely responses to emails
Officers and Student Affairs reserve the right to make changes to the above as necessary
Expectations
Be knowledgeable about the college
Serve as a positive role model
Must Maintain a 3.0 GPA
Be punctual and dependable
Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
Attend scheduled meetings once a semester
Maintain regular communication with the office of student affairs as well as organization officers via email or in person
Timeline
February 11 – application deadline (resume, application and essay)
February 19 – interview notifications
February 23-27 – student ambassador interviews (Group Interviews)
March 6 – student ambassadors will be selected and notified

Selection process
Application, RESUME AND ESSAY WILL BE REVIEWED BY Professional Programs Staff and current Student Ambassadors
Group interviews
Seven students will be selected
training (shadowing currentstudent ambassadors and attending various events)

• Admissions Interview Events (VMC tours, student panels, recruitment dinners and interviews)
• Advancement publications
• Campaign committee meeting
• Friends of the VMC Day
• Honors & Awards
• Midwest Veterinary Conference
• New student orientation, Oath & Hooding, OpenHouse, summer vet prep camp
• White Coat Ceremony
• Various recruiting events
• Tour of the veterinary medical center -prospective students, donors and alumni
Benefits of being a student ambassador
• $1000 Scholarship • $500 – Awarded 2nd year Spring Semester; • $500 – Awarded 3rd Year Spring Semember• Awarded February 1st
