Good day Everyone

With the cooler temperatures and some

white stuff coming down it looks like our

riding season is coming to an end Itrsquos time

to trade in our riding jacket and gloves for

the traditional ski jacket and insulated

great rides we had beautiful country we

saw and the meeting of new and old

friends that we hadnrsquot seen since the last

Wing Ding etc

Before putting the cover on your bike it

might be a good time to do your fall mainte-

nance Howrsquos your tires Getting down

When was the last time that you checked

your brakes air filter etc Doing these

maintenance things now means when the

weather breaks in the spring yoursquore ready to

If you can do the maintenance yourself

thatrsquos great Most of the motorcycle shops

will be happy to pick up your ride and do

the maintenance over the winter months

many motorcycle shops will lower their pric-

es as that is their low season and they are

looking for work

With riding out for a few months now is a

good time to catch up on classroom train-

ing There are many seminars that can be

presented at the end of a chapter meeting

or even at the weekly coffee gathering

Many can be presented for as little as 10 ndash

15 minutes When was the last time you

took a First Aid Course amp CPR By taking a

ues etc The NW District is planning a rally for July 25 to 28 2019 at 100 Mile

House They are planning to do their rally on a bi-annual basis as ours will likely be

too

Stu was in Moose Jaw this summer and noted the tunnel tours are well worth it

Moose Jaw also has a world class spa and many accommodation choices with hotels

camping RV camping and mobile homes for rent

Roger was unable to attend but advised that due to instructor availability the Road

Captain course must be postponed until 2019

Stewart Dickson reported the following rides are planned Sept 15th Honor Ride in

opportunity to conduct a poker run with our chapter members that would involve a

visit or stay at the resort or perhaps providing our membership with a special offer

This will have to wait until next year but Stu was looking for the level of interest to

respond back to John

Veterans Food Bank is closing as noted at the previous meeting however a group

has stepped forward and is working on keeping it open They have incorporated un-

der the Alberta Societies Act and are trying to set up as a charitable organization

More information to follow as we hear more

Brian

route was good the starting hotel was good it was very hot in Mexico and

snowing in Alberta on the Monday finish

Deerfoot Casino bent over backwards to accommodate the group and did a great

job

Thanks to the Lammlersquos for all their work on the ride

Ride statsmdash221 riders no significant accidents (minor animal strikes reported)

rider nationalitiesmdash4 Mexican 119 USA 91 Canada 68 Alberta riders compared

to 54 riders from California which is surprising as it is a California group that

hosts 3 Flags there were 76 Hondas 55 Harleys 43 BMWs and 11 Yamahas

Other brands had less than 10 each

Good response from the surveys at the banquet 74 gave the finish a 9 or 10

rank with the majority 7 or higher The bar has been set high for future finish

line hosts

Bob

Most things that resulted in a lower than 10 rating at he finish were either minor

or out of our control

37 volunteers with 4 ladies that werenrsquot members everyone else from GWRRA-

AB Bob thanked all the volunteers for making the plan work

Bob Van Ness advised the May ride will be May 10 to 14 over Motherrsquos Day The ride

will be different this year and go into Oregon slightly Bob advises itrsquos a good route

Wing Ding will be on Labour Day again It may be moved back to the 4th of July after

BUNCO TOURNAMENT

SATURDAY OCTOBER 27 2018

Due to popular demand your Chapter Executive are planning on having a Fall Bunco

Night What a great way of bringing close to another fantastic year of riding donrsquot delay

in confirming your attendance as there is a limit on attendees

Itrsquos a great way of getting together with old friends meeting new friends sharing

stories itrsquos easy itrsquos fun itrsquos friendly non-intrusive and affordable

For those of you who didnrsquot attend the April 2018 Bunco Night or are new to GWRRA and

donrsquot know what Bunco is all about here is a Readerrsquos Digest version of the game The

game began in 18th century England as a gamed called Eight-Dice Cloth is enjoying a

surge of popularity According to the World Bunco Association this new interest stems

from a ldquoa return to traditional family values a sense of neighborhood and community

and the desire and need for social interactionrdquo Bunco is played with 4 players per table

each player has three dice players rotate from table to table a winner will be determined

at the completion of the tournament Enough about the rules suffice it to say the rules

are easy to follow and understand and you will catch on very quickly If not there are

three other people at your table that will help you

Good day Everyone

With the cooler temperatures and some

white stuff coming down it looks like our

riding season is coming to an end Itrsquos time

to trade in our riding jacket and gloves for

the traditional ski jacket and insulated

gloves reminisce with friends about the

great rides we had beautiful country we

saw and the meeting of new and old

friends that we hadnrsquot seen since the last

Wing Ding etc

Before putting the cover on your bike it

might be a good time to do your fall mainte-

nance Howrsquos your tires Getting down

When was the last time that you checked

your brakes air filter etc Doing these

maintenance things now means when the

weather breaks in the spring yoursquore ready to

go

If you can do the maintenance yourself

thatrsquos great Most of the motorcycle shops

will be happy to pick up your ride and do

the maintenance over the winter months

many motorcycle shops will lower their pric-

es as that is their low season and they are

looking for work

With riding out for a few months now is a

good time to catch up on classroom train-

ing There are many seminars that can be

presented at the end of a chapter meeting

or even at the weekly coffee gathering

Many can be presented for as little as 10 ndash

15 minutes When was the last time you

took a First Aid Course amp CPR By taking a

medical course you are helping to protect

your friends and family members Would

you know what to do in the event of a medi-

cal emergency Maybe at home watching

TV walking at the mall or out for a family

drive in the country

Talk to the other members in your chapter

and ask the Chapter Director to arrange for

an instructor A lot of chapters have MFA

Instructors as members

By taking the courses that are offered by

GWRRA you are not only helping yourself to

stay healthy but you are helping the Instruc-

tors keep their teaching certificates

What is that all about you ask The Instruc-

tors take time out of their personal lives to

get certified and then they must teach a

specified number of Courses in order to

keep their teaching certificates If these

numbers are not met then these instructors

will lose their certificates Letrsquos help our-

selves as well as our instructors

Have a great winter season we will see you

in the spring
