Literacy

Work through the year will include reading a wide range of texts, including film clips. Children will develop spelling, handwriting and sentence structure skills, but the main focus will be on the content and structure of their written texts.

Spellings will be given weekly and will be tailored to your child’s needs. Words will be chosen not for their difficulty, but for their relevance to your child’s learning.

When Literacy homework is set, it will develop skills learnt in class that week.

Times tables facts with derived division:- 4 x 9 = 36 9 x 4 = 36

36 ÷ 4 = 9 36 ÷ 9 = 4

By practising tables in this way we can really increase the pace at which we complete our facts to 10 x 10.
