It is with great pleasure I announce the 2020 Matinee Music program.

This year’s line-up brings some of Australia’s leading cabaret, musical theatre and opera performers to our local stage as well as a special guest direct from New York City. These variety style concerts provide for a morning of high quality professional entertainment at a reasonable price.

Bringing performers of this calibre to Glen Street Theatre highlights Council’s support of the arts for all members of our Northern Beaches community. The entertainment is always first class, but equally important is the chance to enjoy coming together on a regular basis, having a chat and sharing in the joy of live performance.

I hope you enjoy this great year of entertainment ahead.

Michael Regan Northern Beaches Council Mayor

We wish to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which Glen Street Theatre stands and show our respect to the Elders past, present and emerging.

DIRECTOR’S NOTEWelcome to another year of fabulous music and beautiful mornings to share with friends at Glen Street Theatre.

The weekday morning music program has entertained a loyal community of followers who have become a vital and ongoing part of the Glen Street Theatre family. Many of these concerts sold out in 2019 so make sure you get in early to avoid missing out. We have also worked hard to make sure more of our Theatre Season shows have weekday and weekend matinees. I encourage you to make full use of this wonderful venue in your community and enjoy the full range of shows on offer at Glen Street Theatre in 2020.

We look forward to seeing you at a show very soon.

Belinda Gibson Glen Street Theatre Director

They say nostalgia isn’t what it used to be. Well, now it is! Remember when your parents disapproved of Tom Lehrer’s disgraceful ditties heralding the end of civilization as we knew it? Then rejoice! Those catchy, subversive songs decried in Sydney and banned in Adelaide (phew!) are back with a wicked vengeance.

Mischievous and risqué Glenn Amer, brilliantly aided and abetted by engaging young Julian Kuo (Broadway Bard, American Psycho, Hair and Fame) will have you dancing to The Masochism Tango, The Weiner Schnitzel Waltz and The Vatican Rag as you celebrate Oedipus Rex, Bright College Days, Lobachevsky, National Brotherhood Week, Hanukkah in Santa Monica and Smut before finally learning who got what from Agnes as you sing along with The Elements. Sure, We’ll All Go Together When We Go, but not before laughing out loud at the satirical genius of Harvard’s bow-tied iconoclast and riotous rebel, Tom Lehrer.
