What is stress?

What effect does stress have on you?

• May become irritable• May have physical

symptoms (headache, perspiration, fatigue, upset tummy, etc.)

• Difficulty concentrating

How can you manage stress?

• Prepare yourself to cope with stress that can’t be avoided.

• Manage your time by using a calendar, schedule, or timeline for completing tasks.

• Prioritize tasks; do first things first.• Break larger tasks into smaller ones so they

are more manageable.

Minimizing stress

The best way to keep stress at a minimum is to be prepared! Come to class prepared, use your time wisely,

don’t let due dates sneak up on you, and be sure to study when you need to.

What is anxiety?

• a state of uneasiness or tension caused by apprehension

• May be defined as an unreasonable fear

• May escalate to the point of debilitation

Symptoms of anxiety

• Feeling of dread• Heart palpitations• Sweating/perspiration• Racing thoughts• Feelings of nausea

How do I deal with feelings of anxiety?

• Identify triggers for these feelings

• Prepare for upcoming tests and assignments by taking notes, studying, and managing time wisely

• Speak with teachers or trusted adult about your concerns
