KIDS <happy laughter>

PUPCAKE (barks)

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Wheeeeee!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Yee heee!

CUSTARD <Ungh!>

PUPCAKE <2 HAPPY PANTS AND YIPS>

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (os) This has to be my most berry

favorite time of the year!

ORANGE BLOSSOM (sniffs) Yep, it’s that time

when Fall feels like Summer –

the last warm days before it

gets chilly.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (dreamily) The last warm

days... We should do

something special! A final

fun fling before it gets

cold!

PUPCAKE (barks)

ORANGE BLOSSOM (chime in) Yeah!

ANGEL CAKE (chime in) Great idea!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE (chime in) Super!

GINGER SNAP (chime in) Let’s do it!

ANGEL CAKE Like what?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Like ... (thinking) ... umm

...

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (cheerful determination)

Well, I dunno - but I'll

think of something!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (OS) Okay, Custard -- how about

this?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE We ride a graham cracker raft

down the Fudge River!

CUSTARD Bad idea for two reasons.

One, the raft would get

soggy. And two, I can't

swim.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE You could wear a marshmallow

life jacket.

CUSTARD Nah, I'd look like a s'more.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Picnic, did that - garden

party, did that twice - sack

race, had three.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (sighs) We've already done

all the fun summery stuff...

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE What's left?

PUPCAKE (yawns) Aaa-rooo!

CUSTARD He says what about chasing

squirrels?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE I think that's more of a dog

thing, Pupcake.

PUPCAKE <YAWNS>

CUSTARD You could have a sleepover.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Everybody's slept over at

everybody's house, 4 times.

There're no more houses to

sleep over in.

CUSTARD And it's not like you could

sleep outside.

PUPCAKE <ROWR?>

PUPCAKE <HAPPY AROOOO!> --- <HAPPY

PANTING>

CUSTARD Well, you could. But that

would be horrible.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Say that again Custard.

CUSTARD What'd I say?!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE You said we could have a

BERRY SPECIAL OVERNIGHT

OUTSIDE CAMP-OUT!

PUPCAKE (barks)

CUSTARD Who said that? I DIDN'T SAY

PUPCAKE <HAPPY>

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE First I have to make some

berry special invitations!

CUSTARD Awwwww.

CUSTARD Um ... Strawberry?

CUSTARD Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoooaa -

let's slow down. Who wants

to sleep outside? Couldn't

you make it somewhere warm

and dry... like somewhere...

inside?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE It'll be fun! You'll see!

CUSTARD (big sigh)

can't wait!

GINGER SNAP A camp-out?! What do you

think this is all about?

CHOCOLATE CHIPMUNK <CHIRPS: I DUNNO>

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Whoo Hoo – a camp out!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE (excitedly) Strawberry! A

camp out! Count me in!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Whoa... yeah.... cool!

ANGEL CAKE (greeting) Hey, Huck!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE See ya at the camp out!

ANGEL CAKE Strawberry, I looooooove

camp-outs! I cannot wait!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Great!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (reading) ...And they lived

happily ever after ...

ORANGE BLOSSOM Hi Strawberry...

ORANGE BLOSSOM (shyly) I'd be very pleased

to come to your camp-out.

APPLE DUMPLIN' Me go camp'n, too!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Looks like everybody's gonna

be goin'!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Hold on. We still haven't

heard from Ginger Snap...

GINGER SNAP (very phoney) An invitation?

Nooooooo, didn't get one-a

those.

CHOCOLATE CHIPMUNK <CHIPMUNKY: HUH?>

GINGER SNAP Are you having a party? A

nice middle-of-the-day party,

hmmm?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE I don't understand why you

didn't get the invitation.

(brightens, shrugs it off)

Tell you what! I'll send you

another one!

GINGER SNAP (awkward, caught off-guard)

Oh, um, no, no, you don't

have to do that...

GINGER SNAP (alone, concludes)

...really.

STRAWBERRY (softly to herself) All

done.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE There!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Hey Ginger! D'ja get it this

time?

GINGER SNAP Hmmmm? Oh. No. Not a thing

in my mailbox.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE This doesn't make any sense!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE I don’t understand what is

happening to the

invitations...

CUSTARD Why don't you just ask her?

Or just hand her the

invitation?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE It's too special for that!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE ...just checking.

GINGER SNAP (warily) Hello?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (VO) (filtered) Did you get this

one?

GINGER SNAP (awkward; then brightens to

usual 90 mph) Uh, er, um,

naw, nope, no. Can't say I

did 'cause I didn't, but,

hey, that's okay, these

things happen, guess it just

wasn't meant to be, huh!

CHOCOLATE CHIPMUNK <CHIPMUNK CHATTER: What's

goin' on here?!>

GINGER SNAP Hello?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE You gotta get that mailbox

fixed.

GINGER SNAP Ouch.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE My invitations!

GINGER SNAP Hey, how'd those get there?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Doesn't matter. Here ya go.

GINGER SNAP (forcing self) A camp-out?!

Overnight?! I'd loooove to

come!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE See you tomorrow! (calls)

It'll be great!

GINGER SNAP Yeah, great. Juuuuust great.

GINGER SNAP (OS) Oh no! It's almost dark.

GINGER SNAP (a sigh of relief) Whew!

GINGER SNAP That'll keep away the creepy

crawly night monsters.

CHOCOLATE CHIPMUNK <WILD CHITTER: What's the big

idea, what do you think

you're doing?!>

GINGER SNAP I can't go on that camp-out -

'cause they'll know... I'm

scared of the dark.

GINGER SNAP So I'm just gonna have to

find some way to get out of

it!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE (yells) Everybody ready?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE I’m ready.

ORANGE BLOSSOM Ready.

ANGEL CAKE I was ready yesterday.

HUCKLEBERRY PIE If everybody's ready - let's

get this show on the road!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Whooooooa! ... Ugh!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Uhh... guess I'm not quite

ready.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Hey! Where’s Ginger Snap?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Ginger Snap? Are you in

here?

CHOCOLATE CHIPMUNK <CHITTER>

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Where’s Ginger Snap,

Chocolate?

CHOCOLATE CHIPMUNK <CHITTER: Oh, yeahhhhh, I’ve

seen her.>

CHOCOLATE CHIPMUNK <EXCITED CHITTER>

GINGER SNAP UMPH!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE What're you doing, Ginger

Snap?

GINGER SNAP Just looking for... my warm

socks. Can't go camping

without warrrrm socks.

CHOCOLATE CHIPMUNK <EXCITED CHITTER>

GINGER SNAP Guess I shoulda checked my

sock drawer, huh? Well,

let's get--

GINGER SNAP (feigns sick) Whoa, hold on,

feelin' kinda oozy-woozy all

of a sudden.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE What's the matter?

GINGER SNAP Must be some kinda all-of-a-

sudden oozy-woozy flu...

CHOCOLATE CHIPMUNK <EXCITED CHITTER>

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Ninety-eight-point-normal,

that's good!

GINGER SNAP Yeah... it's great.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Ginger Snap... is it maybe

something else?

GINGER SNAP No! Why do you say that!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE I thought maybe you don't

wanna go camping.

GINGER SNAP (defensively) Well, sure I

do! Why wouldn't I?

HUCKLEBERRY PIE (OS) (calling) Hey, what’s going

on in there? Let's get this

show on the road!

GINGER SNAP You go on, I'll be right

there.

GINGER SNAP If I gotta go... I'm gonna be

prepared!

GINGER SNAP You can never have enough

flashlights.

PUPCAKE <EXCITED BARKING and PANTING>

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Do you think we'll see any

wild and wooly animals

tonight?

ORANGE BLOSSOM We just might!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Maybe we'll see some real

live creepy crawly night

monsters!

ANGEL CAKE I hope there's no moon so

it'll be good and dark and

scary!

APPLE DUMPLIN' Ha! Me no scare!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE How's it going, Ginger Snap?

GINGER SNAP Wonderful. Couldn’t be

better.

SQUIRREL (scared squeal)

PUPCAKE (barks)

ORANGE BLOSSOM This place is perfect!

ANGEL CAKE I love it here!,

HUCKLEBERRY PIE <grunts>

HUCKLEBERRY PIE (straining) Guess I shoulda

brought the instructions.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Not bad, Apple Dumplin'!

APPLE DUMPLIN' We do good!

STRAWBERRY/APPLE DUMPLIN' (muffled laughter)

CUSTARD There! Juuuust...

PUPCAKE <EXCITED BARKING: AROOOOOOF!>

CUSTARD <GASP> Oh no!

PUPCAKE <MUFFLED BARKING>

CUSTARD ...perfect.

PUPCAKE <HAPPY PANTING>

GINGER SNAP <GASP>

PUPCAKE <LOW GROWL OR MOAN>

PUPCAKE (pants)

GINGER SNAP Pupcake?!

GINGER SNAP <LITTLE MOAN>

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE <GIGGLES> Huh?

APPLE DUMPLIN’ (giggles) Fun ...This is fun!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (quietly) Is everything

okay, Ginger Snap?

GINGER SNAP It's gonna be night soon.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Yep.

GINGER SNAP We better get a fire going -

and light the candles and

turn on all the lanterns and

flashlights - before it

gets... (she can't say it)

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Dark?

GINGER SNAP Yeah.

GIRLS (laughs)

HUCKLEBERRY PIE I’ll never get this crummy

tent up!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Are you afraid? Of the dark?

GINGER SNAP (urgent whisper) You don't

have to tell everybody!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Ginger Snap, I'm berry sorry

I made you come along. We

can go back.

GINGER SNAP Then they’ll ALL know I'm

scared! Now that I'm here,

I've got to stay. (looks

determined) I'll be okay.

I've got my flashlights.

GINGER SNAP We’ll have a great time ...

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE (sotto) Don't worry Ginger.

We'll keep the fire going all

night.

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Hey, I got an idea! Let's

tell spoooooooooky stories!

About crawly night monsters!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Or... we could tell some not-

so-spooky stories!

ANGEL/ORANGE/HUCK Naaaaaaah!

HUCKLEBERRY C'mon, let's give ourselves a

good old itty-bitty scare!

(BEGIN SONG: “ITTY BITTY SCARE”)

STRAWBERRY/ORANGE/ANGEL/HUCK An itty-bitty scare, an itty-

bitty scare, that fright in

the night when there's

nothing really there. There's

fun in the sun but it never

can compare to a spooky-ooky,

itty-bitty scare!

STRAWBERRY Gather 'round the campfire,

look at the smoke. I think

that's a ghost, and this

isn't a joke.

HUCKLEBERRY (getting into it) No, wait!

it's a witch!

ANGEL CAKE It's a pumpkin!

ORANGE BLOSSOM It's a head!

GINGER SNAP (by now scared) It's time I

ran back home and got in bed!

STRAWBERRY/ORANGE/ANGEL/HUCK An itty-bitty scare, an itty-

bitty fright.

ORANGE The lump in your throat, at

that bump in the night.

STRAWBERRY (comforting Ginger) There's

nothing to fear. Just stay

near me and beware--

STRAWBERRY/ORANGE/ANGEL/HUCK Of the eerie-weary, spooky-

ooky, itty-bitty scare!

ANGEL CAKE Maybe if you're lucky, a cute

ghost or two, will sneak up

behind you and suddenly go

"boo!"

ORANGE BLOSSOM Or a beast in the woods

crawling closer, creep creep

creep.

STRAWBERRY/ORANGE/ANGEL/HUCK Creep creep creep creep.

GINGER Now I know I'll never get to

sleep!

STRAWBERRY (to Ginger directly) The

night is a place where we

store all our fears. But when

friends are with friends

there's no need for any

tears. 'Cause the point of

these stories is to have

ourselves a ball, but when

you clear away the smoke

there's nothing there at all!

STRAWBERRY/ORANGE/ANGEL/HUCK/GINGER) An itty-bitty scare!

A bitty-batty boo! When

friends stick together

there's no night they can't

get through. So let's whip up

some fun and a few surprises

too, with the creepy-leapy,

eerie-weary, spooky-ooky,

freaky-eeky... itty-bitty

scare!

ORANGE BLOSSOM In her tent, I guess.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Ginger Snap? The fire's

going -- (gasp)

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE She's gone!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Huh?

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE She's out there somewhere,

all by herself!

ORANGE BLOSSOM Don't worry, Strawberry,

we'll find her!

ANGEL CAKE Piece of cake!

PUPCAKE (barks)

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Leave it to me - the pie guy!

GINGER SNAP Lights, lights, those

flashlights have to be here

somewhere!

GINGER SNAP Is somebody there...?

GINGER SNAP He...Hello?

FROG (OS) <RIBBIIIIT!>

GINGER SNAP Aaaah!!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Ow! I think we lost the

trail.

ANGEL CAKE (fear creeps in) It sure is

dark out here...

APPLE DUMPLIN' Uh-huhhhhh.

ORANGE BLOSSOM Kinda creepy.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE Kinda crawly.

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Kinda... scary!

STRAWBERRY/APPLE DUMPLIN'/ANGEL/ORANGE Yeah! / Vewwwy! /

You said it! / It sure is!

GINGER SNAP (to herself) I shouldn't

have come out here, I

shouldn't have left the

others. Shouldn't've come,

shouldn't've left...

(BEGIN SONG “SCAREDY LITTLE ME”)

GINGER SNAP Frightened by the dark,

haunted by the night. Just

the thought of evening makes

my tummy not feel right. Wish

I knew how come I came to be

no more than shaky, quaky

scaredy little me.

GINGER SNAP Fearful of the trees,

shrinking from the moon,

startled at my shadow, even

scared to sing this tune.

There's no greater shame, I

guarantee, than being

flittish, skittish scaredy

little me.

GINGER SNAP Oh, why can't I be more like

Huck? He loves a scare the

most. And Angel Cake's not

horror-struck, she'd welcome

any ghost. And Orange Blossom

has no fear. Her brav'ry's

super-powered and Strawb’ry

never sheds a tear. So why am

I such a coward?

GINGER SNAP Silly fraidy cat, yellow-

bellied bird, a heebie-

jeebied chicken who could use

a friendly word. But who

would ever make friends

willingly with such a lily-

livered scaredy little me?

GINGER SNAP If only I could be more like

them, and less like scaredy

little me!

(END OF SONG)

GINGER SNAP Who's there!

OWL (OS) Hoooooo!

GINGER SNAP That's right, who!

OWL (OS) Hoooooooo!

GINGER SNAP (top of lungs!) I ASKED YOU

WHOOOOOOOO!

GINGER SNAP (to self; amazed) It sounds

like they’re running away...

GINGER SNAP (begins fearful; then, a

dawning realization) Well

whattya know! Maybe those

creepin' crawlin' night

monsters are as scared of

me... as I am of them!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE I hate to think of poor

Ginger Snap, out there alone

in the dark. I'll bet she's

awful scared.

HUCKLEBERRY PIE I know just how she feels.

GINGER SNAP Who's in there?

GINGER SNAP (frightened) Yikes! (then,

recovering:) Oh, my!

CRICKET <SCARED SOUND>

GINGER SNAP Wait! Don't go! I won’t

hurt you!

OWL Hoo?

GINGER SNAP Why... you're not creepy or

crawly night monsters... not

at all.

GINGER SNAP (smiles) I'm Ginger Snap!

Nice to meet you! You

haven't seen any flashlights

lying around, have you?

FROG <AFFIRMATIVE: Ribbut!>

GINGER SNAP Can you show me where!

GINGER SNAP (O.S.) Where is everybody?

GINGER SNAP Oh, they must've gone looking

for me!

APPLE DUMPLIN' Wh-- what that?!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE I-I d-don't know!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE Whatever it was, it sounded

big!

ANGEL CAKE And close!

KIDS <BIG SCREAM!>

GINGER SNAP Sounds like them!

ANGEL CAKE Why'd we ever come out here

in the middle of the night?!

HUCKLEBERRY PIE With all these night

monsters!

ANGEL CAKE Whose idea was this camp-out

anyway!?

PUPCAKE Aaa-roooo!

GINGER SNAP Wait! Maybe there’s nothing

HUCKLEBERRY PIE (points at OS ‘monster’)

What about THAT!?!

GINGER SNAP (with some fear) Well, l-

let’s check it out.

GINGER SNAP See! There’s nothing scary

there!

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE How embarrassing!

ANGEL CAKE We were scared of a tree!?

ALL kids <LAUGH>

CRICKET/FROG/OWL (OS) Ribbut!/ Hoo?!

KIDS (EXCEPT GINGER) <HUGE SCREAMS!>

ANGEL CAKE NIGHT MONSTERS!

GINGER SNAP They're not monsters.

They're my friends.

GINGER SNAP They helped me find you. And

they helped me see...

GINGER SNAP ...even though the forest can

be a spooky place at night,

once you know what you're

afraid of, sometimes it's not

so scary. You just gotta

take a good look at what’s

scarin’ you.
